I'm surprised the battery's still good after nearly a decade. Probably helped it was brand new. I grabbed yellow and red on the eshop a while ago to add to my collection. Even if I don't really plan to play them since I still have my leafgreen cart from when I got it in the ds era, it's nice to have a bit of history.

Those little batteries can last a surprisingly long time! I was trying out a few of my old cartridges on my Analogue Pocket recently, and the original batteries still worked on a few of them! So this one being replaced should be good for quite a few years yet :)

Great memories no doubt! I was starting to get out of Pokémon as Gen 3 came out because I was entering my teens and stating to feel like the series was "for kids", but I eventually came back to it and played Emerald and FireRed and loved them!

What a coincidence! I just finished a Blue playthrough (not on the original cartridge, sadly) after discovering my old N64 and original copy of Stadium and transfer pak at my Grandparents. It even had my old Mewtwo VEGETA in the Hall of Fame, complete with trainer ID TRUNKS (dbz fan, ofc). Unfortunately, I was 9 years old at the time and had no idea what I was doing, so I never actually stored him on the n64; all that remains is the record, I can't actually retrieve or use him, but still... Truly a blast from the past! I've had my eye on one of those Analogue Pockets, but they're soooo prohibitively expensive. Ugh. I don't have the cartridges anymore, but I would love to be able to play through the Golden Sun series someday!

Yoo that's awesome, so fun that you rediscovered your old stuff! Did you still have your original Pokémon in Stadium? And yeah, the Pocket is quite pricey, but it's a lovely piece of hardware and I've been enjoying it a lot! Definitely a splurge, though. It would be awesome for Golden Sun, I bet the summons would look beautiful on that screen. I never hard those carts, but I played through the first one via emulator, and I'd like to track down the cart if I can find it for a decent price.

@@theASMRnerd Unfortunately no, none of my other main mons were there. Just Mewtwo. But even that was a bit like walking into Erebor and finding the Arkenstone right where you left it, even though all the rest of the treasure was gone. I will say, though, that I had a team registered for the Pika Cup that, upon reflection, shouldn't be possible and I have no idea how I managed such a thing at that age. It's got some regular early-game pokes that everyone would have: a level 18 Rattata and a level 19 Jigglypuff, but then it gets weird... The rest of the team consists of a level 15 Fearow, a level 15 Charmeleon, a 15 Nidoking, and a level 20 Kabuto, all of which are impossible at those levels. I'm pretty sure you can't combine cartridge pokemon with rentals, so I have no earthly clue how/where this team came from. It has my original Pokemon Blue Trainer ID attached to it, so they must've come from the cart, but how?? Very mysterious. As to Golden Sun, that's actually a great point; there's a neat local game shop near here that I should check next time I'm headed downtown. As convenient as ROMs are, it's so easy to forget that going and getting a physical copy is still a cool experience all its own.
