Rather than using a contact adhesive, you can use construction adhesive. Get the kind that is in a tube, and is dispensed using a caulk gun. The dry time is long enough for you to be able to position, and if necessary, reposition your pieces before it dries. You can also wipe on a very thin bead of paintable caulk along the exposed seams or edges to make it even more weather resistant.

We purchased our property from an old friend who restores old vehicles. He built a storefront of an old gas station ( ca 1940’s ) complete with a rusted out old vehicle. I’ve been looking for a guideline to make a gas pump similar to what you’ve built. Another one of your videos came up on my feed and I’m so glad I delved into this a bit further. Thank You!!!!

@@DIYGene Sadly, I lost everything in the 2008 crash, living in a small apartment since then so no hands-on projects anymore except a huge cat "tree" (little forest?, lol) for the cats made out of several real tree trunks, natural teak perches, soft natural baskets to lay in, leather and goat fur and more. So, basic tools, some muscles and real sweat to put it together... Will be moving back to US to be with my son in near future and do the steam punk projects with him, he'll LOVE it. Hugs from Belgium.

Sir you did something special! I always take a lot out of your videos and this time even more. One addition to your project to give it even more functionality could be to use the pump as the gas feeder for the bbq. What do you think? Would it be feasible and safe? Asking for a friend 😂
@DIYGene3 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure, but that’s a good idea. I also thought it might be fun to use a small keg and make the pump handle to poor spout.
@DIYGene3 жыл бұрын
Now that I think about it. You could add an extension hose to the gas tank run it out of the cabinet lo the pump handle and let it clip at the bass of the handle. So the handle would stay but the hose connecter would unclip and go to the grill. Because the hose is smaller in diameter you could put insulation foam around it to make it bigger.
