I like the idea of just retro Chanel and not just games. Hope these happen at least monthly

I'm glad you liked it :) I certainly have enough relevant stuff lying around to make it semi-regular

Just found my grandads old watch... it’s this one only it’s the blue faced one and the model number is m929 4000. I’ve put it into the shop for cleaning and a new battery. If a new battery doesn’t work I will attempt to replace the circuit block as you have done. Great informative video

What causes the Seiko M929 5020 to blink on the timed display? Help me

Low battery warning.

Hey mate. Great video. I owned that same watch when I was a kid. I was awesome in school. I'm 45 now. Just some more info as I'm sure you'd appreciate. Seiko is pronounced Say ko. After this watch I had the super cool calculator watch with buttons so small you need to use a lead pencil to press them. Absolutely useless because having a real calculator was better.

Nice! The same one I show at 1:37?

Nah. In my mind it was this one. The Seiko C153-5007. I mean, look at those buttons. It was a gimmick really. I tried using it in class. Total waste of time.

Retro Game On buying a new board though? I reckon we could fix the old one.

AngryMarkFPV, are you familiar with fixing this type of watch module?
@AngryMarkFPV6 жыл бұрын
segagenesis1989 no but I do a lot of hard core electronics repairs. I'd have suggested once he cleaned it so heavily. Apply liberal flux to the board and reflow it. What was there to loose? But save 70aud haha.

I actually did reflow the SMD's and performed as many basic continuity tests I could, and each individual component seemed to be doing it's own thing correctly. I assume this is a logic level problem - as I said in the video, after cleaning the circuit was again complete but nothing but nonsensical numbers flashed in randomised patterns. If you look at the photo at 17:00, you can see that whatever is in the centre (some sort of IC, I guess?) is missing chunks, presumably because of the battery corrosion. That thing was fried!
