The D'kyr is definitely a battleship, at 600m it's only 40m shorter than a Galaxy Class with likely comparable hull volume. That thing was a beast in the 22nd century.

Vulcan Warp Rings have some interesting properties. Accordng to Sulu iirc the warp ring offered a more stable warp field than the Dual Nacelle design but was unable to turn as much as the Dual Nacelle designs. Making a sudden course correction at warp would leave a Vulcan ship unable to to keep up. This maybe why the Future Dorsal Carrier we saw in Daniels Database had 3 ring nacelles. The date 3125 instead of years could be Stardate 3125 which would be roughly the TOS Era and would be a good time for this design to be planned.

The Connie was essentially the integration of the best systems from each of the founding members of the Federation, especially the big 4. Also why the system interfaces are super simple so each race could learn quickly. Enterprise Refit is from lessons learned during the Earth-Romulan War. I wish we go a miniseries or movie with that.

It's the other way around for the warp ring. It stows away horizontally to help protect it from damage. As an assault cruiser, protecting things are vital.

It showed the NX Refit at the Fleet Museum more than just once. It was doing a pan around and showed it first, then the Klingon BOP, the Kronos One, the E-A and the Titan-A. I too am glad they made the refit cannon. I also wished we had gotten that 5th season of Enterprise. We would have seen it in season 5 as Doug Drexler confirmed that one. I need to get me another model of the Round 2 NX-01 Refit model. You can build it as the regular NX-01 or the Refit. I wish Round 2 would release an add on kit for their 1/350th NX-01 so you can build it as the Refit. There's an aftermarket version but it's expensive as hell. Yeah the Vulcans are the clear winner. It is weird that the computer didn't fire its weapons properly when you were in the NX Refit.

The AI is barely tolerable. I set it to the highest difficulty and gave myself a type II shuttle and went against a Romulan Warbird and won.

I liked the D'Kyr class battlecruiser vessel, but usually found more impressive for the Vulcan Suurok class science/combat cruiser with the more cylindrical-based vessel, with the pointed ends, & the one 'sail' part on the vessel's lower-side connecting the main fuselage section to the warp ring section, as it was seen in numerous episodes of the series.

So yes there would be a reason to remove the polarized plating, primarily due to the energy requirements... It wasn't actually armor, but polarized as I'm sure you're aware. Back in the day I heard "polarizing the hull plating" explained as imbuing the plating with an opposing electromagnetic charge that would partially nullify the effects of most energy weapons. However I've also heard that polarizing the plating exponentially increases the density of the plating making it more durable and resistant to damage. These days this seems to be the accepted explanation behind the technology. That being said, this system is also an immense drain on power so once the NX class upgraded to energy shield technology, the polarized plating was abandoned to conserve the energy. However that being said, I would imagine that the plating was upgraded throughout the years with better and stronger materials even after the installation of the shield grid, because once the shields are depleted you'd still want tough and durable plating. I am curious However whether or not polarized hull plating was ever adopted as standard technology for later Starfleet vessels once they developed far more powerful and efficient energy and power distribution systems. I mean it would make sense to incorporate it for situations when shields are drained or rendered otherwise inoperable or useless. If I were designing starships, I know I would include it. It certainly doesn't hurt and in the grand scheme of things the power requirements would become rather irrelevant within the context of far more advanced vessels like the Galaxy class or Intrepid class. Afterall the Sovereign class even had advanced ablative armor. Imagine a vessel equipped with both ablative armor AND polarized hull plating... Speaking of, I wonder if it's possible to polarize the ablative armor as well. Although I suppose that might kind of defeat the purpose? Idk just spitballing here lol 😅

3:19 We couldn't even get a Daedalus-class or a DY-500 in Enterprise. Doug Drexler suggested to make a DY-100 the hero ship for that series. What are your thoughts on that?

I saw that Enterprise episode a few weeks ago. I forget if it was the Suliban or the Tholians who disabled the Vulcan ship. Either way, it was fun watching them fight each other. 😄

The only reason the NX-01 refit looks good is because the original NX-01 design was all wrong to start off with. Well...that's my opinion, anyway...

Ummmmmmmm Vulcans have tractor beams .They could lock on at close range and pepper the hell out of the NX. Probably blast a huge hole or two through their hull. Porthos in space would suck. NX could eject the warp core right next to warp ring and start a chain reaction . If the killed MY dog I would ram that thing.........
