Beautiful ships from KA. I particularly loved the heavy BoP with the extra guns in the wing joints. Also, the prologue that was released and packaged with gaming magazines of the time was a great tie in. Story wise it explained how the player earned his position at the academy, and game wise it was a great introduction to the game having you in a d7 fighting romualns. You even chased the last ship into the rings of a planet, only to get ambushed by romulan reinforcements. Best 10cd game i ever played!

I agree that a ship like the Khaless would NOT be in a battle without escorts of any kind. I think same goes for the Yamato. I also agree that the two ships balance each other out. In terms of looks for the Khaless...it's as oddly shaped ship that's for sure...

Good point about the big ship battles really wouldn't be one-on-one. You don't see 2 lone aircraft carriers squaring off against each other. It's always the carriers surrounded by their task force group.

For anyone who has yet to sample Quick Battle Plus' Extreme AI, once the opponent is sufficiently damaged, the AI will give chase, with forward/doesal n ventral shield boosts, in an attempt to get close to you (ramming can happen), and the buildup is no joke, as even if you are a good distance from such a blast, you can still loose a sizable chunk o health😅

The configuration of the worp core must be crazy unless the two ships have two worp cores because one can't handle more than three worp nasals a good example to look at is the worp core of the uss enterprise D.That ship was easy to figure out how the two worp nasales where supprted and is believable in star trek but not once have i seen a worp core that has more than two tubes with one on each side of the worp core that connect with the two worp nasales with one on each side.

Play this exact scenario in Klingon Academy and you'll see how quick the Yamato finishes the fight, mostly because it has two assault phasers instead of the one here. Great nostalgia vibes going though and I love the upgraded renders of Yamato in this game.

These are both ships that are "Heavy artillery". They sit at the rear while the agile starships do the frontline fighting. These ships fire their heaviest weapons into the thick of it, knocking out the most threatening targets. They're not meant to brawl.

I'd argue the balance is actually bad in this case. If I recall correctly (and someone correct me if I don't.) The B-10K battleship is equivalent to the Federation Yamato, problem is the Sword of Kahless was a B-11K, meant to be bigger and more powerful than either, and indeed it was in the Starfleet Command games that introduced the B-11K. It was not so so powerful that victory would be impossible in a Yamato, but enough that the B-11K should have a tangible advantage. Just a thought.

The variety of ship models for the Federation, Klingons and Romulans in the Starfleet Command games meant that we saw different models for dreadnoughts and battleships, to say nothing of the other vessels in the fleet. Sadly, the other races had a single model, and I really would've liked to see an even meaner Gorn battleship. The Klingons liked their battleships, so much so that they supposedly nearly bankrupted themselves.

As I recall, in KA the assault phaser often caused system failures on your ship when fired. I think the Yamoto in KA had the stronger shields, as if you hit with all five MIRV missiles from a Sha'kurian dreadnought you would destroy a Kahless but not a Yamoto.

For such a slow ship, you'd expect it to have better firing arcs. The Sword of Kahless barely turns fast enough to allow its super phaser to be actually useful.

I do like how the Sword of Khaless is the Klingon Yamato. The one thing I'd like to bring up is that in Star Trek fighters weren't a thing. Shields and phasers were directly proportional to a ships size and ability to generate power; the larger the ship, the more power it had available. I know in DS9 they were showing Starfleet using modified courier shuttles in battles but that was because the Dominion was able to out produce them in soldiers and ships as the Jem'Hadar fighter was easy to make, cheap and fast to make. The Jem'Hadar would be fighting age in 3 days containing all the knowledge needed to be a soldier, fight, operate their ships and repair them. Starfleet was desperate to field as many ships as they could especially since training a Starfleet crewman or officer took decades. The Federation, Klingon and Romulan alliance were on the back foot and the fighters were desperation. We know this because in every episode on TNG, DS9, Voyager, every time a starship confronted fighters, they destroyed them without any effort.

There is not a Proxima planned for the REv1.2UE, and there is only TOS and Post Dominion Proximas in Remastered, though there *are* some TMP ones in queue... Might be good for use against Flowrellik's Yamato HP....😎

Oh, it is possible in BC, and SFRD made a Kobayashi Maru (based on old concept schematics, which the JJ version is based on) thst can be featured. I attempted to do such a battle in BC against three Klingon Battlecruisers, using assorted TMP Refits and the JJprise and JJ Klingon ships... of about a dozen battles, I might have survived two or three times at most. The KM never did...

2:37 The USS Yamato is defending Earth in the Klingon Academy simulations. Naturally it is going to be impressive. I personally don't think that it fits in canon as a ship that was actually built by Starfleet but it'd make sense as Klingon propaganda. (The Galaxy-class would not be that big of an achievement as it is made out to be, otherwise. Starfleet would also be bringing out these ships to fight the Borg.)
