Back in the late 80s I had a friend with a Kona. Was pretty special at the time and the group of MTB friends were all jealous as hell. This was in U.K and I remember Kona making quite an impact on the MTB scene. Muddy Fox were widely seen as the premium bikes along with Specialized, a Stumpjumer gave you special kudos back then. I had a Marin. There were no trail parks so we just rode around forests and got shouted at by walkers and farmers etc. Good memories.

Nice… I had a Trek 830 single track & my mate had a Marin Bear Valley. I actually have this exact Cindercone set up as my single speed for buzzing around the village / taking camping bike. 👍

Found a pair of Project 2 Joe Murray forks nearby a few dumpsters …well it was attached to a 1992 Diamondback ascent EX with a snapped chainstay tube and a California bicycle registration plate that expired in 1995… I’m way up north in Canada , man imagine if bikes could tell stories oh my.

I had a yellow one. I paid for it 90 euros and was in good conditions... i used to borrow it to my father who ruined its paint then i sold it for 80 euros... i hated that bike, heavy as hell..

That P2 steer is not long enough. There's not even two threads of engagement with the headset. The Impact headset clamp bolt doesn't tighten anything with that little thread engagement, and the clamp is susceptible to cracking there now.

Thanks for watching. You are not quite right though. The steerer comes almost to the top of the adjustment ring. It may look short but remember that the fork was only resting before being preloaded. Bear in mind also that this is the original unmodified fork that was on this frame and is as it left the factory.

Nice clean bike but why not a cartridge BB? Was that music so fangled AI Smashing Pumpkins /Nirvana elevator music.

I tried to keep it as factory spec as possible, which is why we used the original Suntour XC Expert BB with grease port. I thought given that it was a 90s bike I would try and find some music that sounded from the era. so not AI, but yes that was my intent. Hope you liked the video. Thanks for watching.

Nice video, beautiful restoration. You have inspired me to do a similar job on my Cindercone which looks almost identical but in Black. If only I could manage it in the 7 minutes shown here 😀 It is shown in this video at 1 minute kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKKQloN-p7Cff5Y I just need to work out how to peel my Velocity sticker off the stem so I can repaint it, I think the frame is fine without a repaint. Still has the original front tyre! They are beautiful bikes, I love the Suntour group set and the old style headset.

This is an ideal ultimate bicycle concept. The only thing I am not sure is 3X system, because 1X is obviously better. Or maybe am I missing something here?
