graduate student studying applied statistics. I do a lot of work In machine learning and currently use a surface pro 7, and I love it but I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these to use as my home compute device instead of just plugging my SP7 into my external monitor. looks like a great bang for your buck!

For me it's pointless fun. I was born in 1981 and I started with Zx, then C64 for 5.25 floppy disks, Amiga 500 Psx... and I call them Retro Games. I don't need to run games from PS3, X360, etc., or fresh equipment - because these games no longer have that "something" that kept us in front of the TV for hours. Greetings, Krzysiek from Poland.

If a person is mainly interested in using this as an emulation machine, I think the SER6 Max with Ryzen 7 7735 HS and 16 GB of RAM is the real sweet spot for price to performance ratio. Everyone who has reviewed it and included emulation testing has demonstrated it does a great job of handling even PS3/Xbox 360 and teknoparrot. Although the 16 GB model seems to have become more difficult to find.

Considering upgrading to this from a SER5 MAX later this year. Maybe a newer model will come out by then but aside from the dumb button issue, it may be worth it. At the least I'll go up to a SER6 MAX.

Looking forward to your Beelink SER8 8845HS review - should be out soon and could quite possibly be my first Mini PC. Not keen on the UM790 BSOD issues and Minisforum's post-sales customer service. Aoostar GEM12 seems promising - I need to read more about it. I could get a sweet discount on the Geekom A7 directly from them but it has thermal throttling issues, poor WiFi and I suspect their shipping is really slow. Alleged spyware has also coloured my perception somewhat. I really cannot be bothered wiping the OS, I just want to plug and play. So well and truly, I'm looking at Beelink or Aoostar. Those are what I've whittled it down to. There should be more European companies developing these products well and truly. EDIT: Make that just the Beelink now. GEM12 apparently has fan whine problems. Will there ever be a problem free Mini PC? Or should I temper my expectations?

It's likely to be $230 higher for the higher performance CPU as top of the range processors are about $200 higher for a speed that's a fraction faster; therefore, the profit will be mainly for the chip manufacturer (AMD in this case).

Great review. Yes, the price point is too much for a Mini PC.The Ser 6 Max and this one look durable alike and are close in specs. I would go with the Ser 6 Max which still has great specs and is a beast from what a read and seen from your previous review. I have the Ser 7 (not max) 7840 HS which I bought in a good deal with great specs for high end stuff and so far I'm happy with it. I have played Fuel, Blur, SvR 07 and Forza Horizon for Xbox 360 and it plays good.

I got my SER 7 and I got a 8TB batocera drive. All booting up ok. I’ve my game sir controller mapped out perfectly. I’ve noticed any racing games I try like Daytona, crazy taxi, Sega rally etc - I cannot get the acceleration to work. Not sure why, as all the other functions for breaking, reversing, camera change etc all work. Has anyone any ideas?

I don’t want to spend an absolute fortune - but I am basically looking at a machine that can run Sega model 2/3 - Naomi 1/2. Game cube, ps2, Dreamcast, maybe ps3 (though I know emulators are perfect). It’s basically all the late 90’s / early 2000’s arcade games I could never own. Light gun games etc. what do you recommend?
@OfficialChaseBrogan10 ай бұрын
If you could do without ps3 then you'd be able to get a great option for prob $250 -$300 max if you have to have ps3 then your price point is going to be closer to $500. Definitely a big jump for 1 collection. Something like this would be great for you. amzn.to/3OJtv8k

Yeah at the time when I ordered the listing said Max as did the images on the listing but in the last few days everything has been changed to just ser7. I bought direct from Beelink to just through their Amazon listing so not sure why there's that disconnect initially. Specs are exactly the same though so just the title that was changed.

@wanasiaw305510 ай бұрын
they cost too much, it's madness. At that price you get a desktop PC with parts that can easily be replaced in case of breakage. No one talks about the reliability over time with these little boxes. in case of breakage, whoever knows how to fix it, will find the spare parts and at what price, given that every 2 days there is a continuous evolution. too afraid of spending crazy amounts of money and then having to throw it all away in the short term. disproportionate costs, no one gives you the money. then from the reviews on Amazon, I see fast breakages, various problems, performance that is decreasing,... Never talk about this. You spend too much on a product that doesn't give you security over time. That s not a bargain.
