FYI: We've confirmed with our own review team and some other external reviewers that the 34XX can be plugged into higher-voltage chargers, including usb-c to usb-c chargers. We'll test this out further in the long-form reviews.

I'm pretty speechless. My childhood GBA was Arctic White and it served me well for years and years. I still have it and my carts too. Anbernic knew their assignment with the 34-XX and they executed it flawlessly.

What a KILLER release. A near perfect GBA classic. I love my 35xx SP, but who can argue with perfect 3:2 and 3x resolution scale?

I mean, if your main thing is GBA, then it's perfect. If you want versatility on the screen then 4:3 is the way to go (specially if it's 720p)

@@gustavo9758 Ah no, 3:2 and 5:3 are the most versatile resolutions for Emulation. 3:2 is good for 4:3 and great for 16:9 Gaming.

Anbernic did a great job on this one. They copied the form factor exactly and kept the look for nostalgia sake. 3X pixel perfect 3:2 IPS screen. The buttons are supposed to be conductive rubber. If the hardware comes out without flaws then this will be a knockout.

The only reason I might not get it day 1 is because I suspect they're going to drop a second round of color options later like they did with the 35XX SP, and I would love a Glacier-like model.

Dude can’t wait for this RG34XX GBA!! Anbernic did it! A big congrats to the company. This renders the older Anbernic RG351P somewhat obsolete now; it was still innovative back then years ago though and was the best option for the perfect 3:2, pocketability, style, and controls. However this GBA clone takes it to another level! Day one buy haha 😁

I've seen in another video that the battery isn't a pop n' go situation, it's held in by a cord. That itself isn't a big deal, but I'm wondering how easy it'll be to find battery replacements that'll fit inside properly, years down the line.

I'm going to do a teardown in the in-depth review, which will include the battery removal. It's in there super snug, and I didn't want to fiddle around with it for 15 minutes while I was trying to film a quick first impressions, but I'll cover it and see what sort of matching options are available online.

I wouldn't really anticipate something like this reliably lasting multiple years. And I think that's okay because the pricing is reasonable enough for something semi-disposable, and by the time it stops working there will likely be something even better available.

Neat. I was sold with the Game Boy DMG design, but I'm glad they're continuing to put out new ones that emulate (ha) the old Nintendo handheld styles. At this point I'm waiting for them to put out a proper DS design and various two-screen devices near a moderate budget range. Not really to buy personally, I already have a softmodded 3DS if I want to play DS titles without carrying cartridges everywhere, but just as a sort of "oh that's neat" sort of thing to look at and see how it works. I'm glad you have a healthy outlook on how many systems they put out. I see a lot of tech KZbinrs complain about it because they feel obligated to buy them and forget that the rest of us don't really need more than one of these devices and benefit from having the various options. If anything, they're moving too slowly (not really, they're pushing them out at an astronomical rate). The only thing to watch out for is the quality of the d-pads they implement, which is sometimes shaky and not up to my personal standards, and button quality (how firm/loose they feel, how clicky the buttons are, whether the shoulder buttons feel right or if they feel awkward, press too easily, etc. etc.). But since they all use the same chipsets, generally, they're usually pretty comparable to each other and have easier support for things like MuOS and other operating systems/custom firmware from the community without too much effort, meaning you can jump right in with a great operating system and get all of the benefits without waiting months on end for someone to support it.

Same. If the 34-XX proves as popular as the XX-SP I expect we'll get a mid-cycle refresh like the SP received with some new colors. I can't imagine that white wouldn't be a part of that group.

the XX line gives a lot of choice but it's too much choice I don't think anyone would be like "this specific handheld is better than the rest" because they all have flaws, but they're all different flaws, there is not a perfect one among them. So instead of me seeing one as the perfect one for me I instead have a handful I can't pick between so I just wait for the next one hoping that is the perfect one... but it never is. We'll see with this one though, this is tempting. Need to watch the rest of the review before I fully decide as well as watch some others in the coming days.

none of the custom firmwares work at the moment, but muOS, MinUI, or Knulli will be your best bet. I'd stick to muOS or minUI on this one because without sticks, you're not going to need the extra boost you'd get for N64/PSP/DC/etc... with Knulli

I specifically ask because I cover a ton of Tactics Ogre, and specifically grew up with the GBA one, Knight of Lodis. If it's possible to play and record the PSP version, it would theoretically be possible to run the HD patch and the amazing One Version overhaul. If it can do that, it replaces my Vita. If not, it just looks pretty.

Retroid is way better at least quality and performance. Not sure about the costumer service since I didn't have any problems yet with my retroid pocket 4 pro. But I heard lots of people complaining about anbernic when it comes to that which is a shame.

I'd absoltuely love if they made a clone of the original DS but with larger higher res screens. It's the most comfortable form factor and dpad imo. Anyways this device looks really cool even if I've got more than enough ways to play GBA games already.
