Awesome! I love that test bench too. That's a great idea having a Peltier plate on the back and a complete active cooling system in your bench. And I'm amazed at the performance of the old girl and 680. That is a monster cooler for sure!!!
@jakegarrett81095 жыл бұрын
That’s a heater not a peltier plate (although without cooling on the other side a peltier would become a heater too), it’s to prevent water buildup and can also help with memory instability because (according to the Inferno Backplate heater, the memory traces start making things unstable if the board gets too cold). It’s only about a 5w heater, but with more insulation it will let you run 24/7 without moisture buildup (keeping the outside of the insulation roughly room temp to prevent condensation, there should be a heater in the coolers plastic mount for the same reason, also about 5w).

interesting to note that the TDP achieved will probably pass the +304 W mark, i used CPUCalc 1.9.6 to have a rough estimation on the TDP that broke the compressor, so you literally had to dissipate the heat that an average nuclear reactor facility does daily (average is 100W/cm2) given that the chip has a die area of 214mm2 or 2,14 cm2 and about 304W estimated TDP for that OC. So the power density is given by (EnergyXtime/Surface) so it gives you at least 142 W/cm2. The comparison reached my mind when i remembered various articles estimating the power that will be dissipated over the next chips that intel will launch (post pentium 4) and couted the power density achieved on nuclear reactors.

Those are nice, with FX-8350 at 1.7 Vcore (350w since the temp is so low) the max block temp after a while of is -35c under stress testing. My LCD finally went out recently (like most did with the flaky controller), so now I’ll have to get a new thermal display system but at least I know if it’s doing great with FX that any Ryzen will be totally fine and run colder. You’ll find that it’s very easy to zip tie one of the larger clam shells to AM4 if you do use Ryzen (same with AM2/3/3+). Unfortunately it’s not big enough for Threadripper, so I’m designing a new evap block for TR4 right now to CNC and then make a monster multi-stage cascade for when TR-64 core comes out (I’m wanting that at -100c as my next daily upgrade). I do hope they surprise lunch those chips soon!

I love seeing vids like these. Cause when you think about the costs of these parts nowadays, you can actually create a pretty decent super low budget gaming build. I know this setup is the the "creme de le creme" with massive OC and water cooling, but if you went with an aio water cooler for the cpu and find a waterblock for the GPU, then oc'd them to safe specs i think it'd still make for an awesome low budget system. I work in a thrift store and we have both new ( like 4th gen i series ) and old pc's. I always tell people on a budget to go with a quad core 2 and then a decent ( say an rx 480 or rx 570 ) GPU.

Along with an X5470 and you could try to bench over 5GHz :) And also some very high frequency capable cas 4 stick for ddr2 (like 550 at least) and some elpida hyper for benching DDR3 775
@arwlyx5 жыл бұрын
I have a EP45-Extreme and its great, the only issues I have with it is the finicky bios booting (guess that's a thing with 775 boards) and the fact that its DDR2, finding proper RAM for it is a pain. I need to get myself an unlocked CPU to play with it, my E5450 I bought to mess around with, as much as it is a better bin, caps out at 4.3Ghz at 520-530 on FSB, the clock skew messes up after that and Cinebench just doesn't run at all and Windows 10 says its corrupted.
@TheQuentincc5 жыл бұрын
@@arwlyx It depend if you want to use it for bench or h24, it's hard to find good clocking 2GB stick, as for the CPU you probably don't need an unlocked one, a good Q9550/Q9650 or X5460/X5470 should be fine, with my EP45s I'm getting over 4.6GHz stable with an Q9550 :) Hgh FSB is very important on these quad core chip, the architecture is very limited by memory bandwidth which is limited by the FSB speed, it is less true on DDR2 stick but on DDR3 it's the case, although finding an EP45T which can handle both 550+ FSB and 2GHz DDR3 on dual channel is nearly impossible

So fact check please! It still benefits modern CPUs.
