Do you really need to buy this? I’m a noob at this stuff but I’ve seen my friend simply put an SD Card on Tablet/Laptop or do you need this as a way to connect it to your pc to add games?? Sorry I’m lost.

@@williss1192 no problem. You only need it when you don't have the sd card reader. Check if your laptop has a sd card reader. Your friend's laptop probably has this sd card reader so that's why he didn't have to get the SD card to USB adapter.

Aside: A Macbook has a built in SD card reader for those who are curious. As long as you have the adapter that comes with the microSD it should work the same.

So I loaded my roms into the same directory as in the video and it worked for about 1 time and now the system doesn't detect my SD card whatsoever. I can get into SD0 but not SD01 anymore. I''m thinking I might've hit a setting somewhere for this to happen? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have the pre installed ROMs that look like gibberish, but the console does not recognize them or find them at all. Do you know why? The ROMs I put on myself are working and play fine.

Oh the pre-installed roms are encrypted. They can only be used by RetroidOS app. You would have to download from scratch on the Android side

@@SpinRetro I used the toolbox to reinstall the pocket retroid app and it still shows up with absolutely no games what so ever. I reckon it's a complete delete of everything and a fresh new install from scratch is needed as you said. I just need to find a reliable source.

Yes, you can definitely do that if you want to access the ROMs both from the Retroid pocket app AND from the Android side. That's interesting... I haven't thought of that. The only thing I haven't tried though is making separate folders inside games/downloads folder. I'll have to try that later.

Does the SD card that comes with the Retroid Pocket 2 full? like for example would I have to buy a 2nd SD card to put my own roms on it because the SD that comes with the Retroid Pocket 2 is full because of pre installed roms?

Its almost full, but not entirely full. It has like a few GB of space left. But I suggest buying a second card (64gb or 128gb)

The roms you have in your pc are they already zipped or unzipped

Can you change the speed of games using this? For example on the older pokemon games, can you set the speed higher to move around faster?

Yeah ,you definitely can do that via Retroarch or stand-alone GBA or GBC emulators. The stand-alone emulator I recommend is myBoy! (there is a free one and paid premium version).

It depends on the emulators. Some roms can stay zipped. For example, gba roms for GBA.emu emulator. When in doubt, just unzip them.

Your question is little unclear. I would have to guess what you mean. If you are asking if you can delete the roms on your PC after you put the rom into RP2, the answer is yes...

@@liluzivert9934 that game doesn't have controller support. You can however download octopus controller mapping for Android to accommodate that but it is a hassle. There is already a video on how to do this by another KZbinr. Hope this helps.

Yes but the one that comes with the device is 32gb which is pretty small.

Unzipping it always makes sure that the emulator will pickup, but some emulators even detect zipped files like GBA.emu series. If you get "no core", then means you didn't set cores for the emulator you are trying to emulate. Which system are you trying to play?

Continuing on this topic, I got the same issue. I’m trying to emulate N64, Pokemon stadium. Download core “mupen64 plus - next” and “mupen64 plus - next GLES3”. But none work, Retroarch crashes and sends me back to the home screen. What could I be doing wrong?

Some emulators can take the ROMs as zipped files like GBA.emu, MD.emu. Some emulators need to be extracted (like RetroArch/SNES9X EX+).

Unfortunately no. If you want to play on Android emulators, you have to download all the ROMs yourself. You can't use the preloaded the ROMs from Android emulators.

Yeah make sure your padttpe is set to standard and not dualshock. Some gsmes won't work if it is set to dualshock.

For a short answer, it will support both 512gb and 1tb microSD cards. According to the wiki, "Theoretically, the RP2 should be able to accept any microSD card up to 2 TB in size. However, for cost and performance reasons, it is recommended to use a 512 GB or smaller card. Our communities recommend the Samsung Evo Plus or Samsung Evo Select microSD cards for the RP2. For a detailed breakdown on why these specific cards are recommended, see this post on our subreddit. If you purchase a Samsung card, you may be able to increase the speed of the card by reformatting your card and increasing the cluster size (allocation unit size). For exFAT, you should see improvements from cluster sizes as large as 1024KB (1MB). Windows will normally force any removable storage larger than 32GB (64GB+) to be formatted as exFAT." Just got this today! Tried to load Fire Emblem on RetroArch and says no cores. It will work on the Retroid app but saving there is a pain. How can I get this to play on RetroArch? Do I have to move the files from the Games folder to the ROMs folder? I've never used an emulator before, please be gentle :p and thanks in advance!

Fire Emblem for GBA? There is actually a lot to say about GBA on Retroid Pocket 2. I do have a part 2 guide about what emulators to use on Android system. If you have time, do watch that video. To make the long story short, there should be a GBA icon that's also named RetroArch. This is an older version of RetroArch that runs older GBA core (gpSP). You have to use that to run GBA.

If the RetroArch emulator seems too complicated, using a stand-alone emulator is a good idea too. For free, myBoy! (free) the emulator is recommended. If you don't mind a paid app, I recommend GBA.emu

Which malfunctions on RetroArch are you experiencing? While I agree with what Wiki entry says, I personally didn't have any problems with RetroArch. As for that Megadrive link, I took a peek inside and found no core backup files. Here is my internal storage back up file: drive.google.com/file/d/1wkzEj_ll9FkN-NpltVCNZYkEtGwefDPg/view?usp=sharing Go look under /Android/data/com.retroarch/files You'll find retroarch.cfg in there. You can also just copy paste the whole/Android/data/com.retroarch/ folder to your internal storage.

PSP games run horrible, just like Dream Cast ones… and PS1 games don't recognize memory card… Retroid OS sucks… I spent 3 days trying to solve these problems… and on an Anbernic it took me 5 minutes to start playing …. I took a dropout with this thing

@@SpinRetro No bro I meant you can download roms onto the the retroid app using nothing, you can use apps like ZArchiver to decompress them and the just play them it's what I do since I emulate games on my phone.
