Learn how to identify the different spaces of the retroperitoneum. I show you how to divide the retroperitoneum into the anterior pararenal space, the perirenal space and the posterior pararenal space.
We will identify the parietal peritoneum, anterior renal fascia (Gerota's fascia), posterior renal fascia (Zuckerkandl fascia) and the transversalis fascia. These fascial planes will allow us create the three divisions of the retroperitoneum. We will also identify the lateroconal fascia and the combined interfascial plane.
Confidently label the retroperitoneal spaces as well as the retroperitoneal organs (adrenal glands, kidneys, pancreas, duodenum, ascending colon and the descending colon.

Not sure if the question banks are for you?
If you're here, you're likely studying for a radiology physics exam. I've spent the last few months collating past papers from multiple different countries selecting the most commonly asked questions. You'll be surprised how often questions repeat themselves!
The types of questions asked in FRCR, RANZCR AIT, ARRT, FC Rad Diag (SA), ABR qualifying Core Physics and MICR part 1 are surprisingly similar and the key concepts remain the same throughout. I've taken the most high-yield questions and answered them in video format so that I can take you through why certain answers are correct and others are not.
Happy studying,
Michael

Would appreciate an explanation of how fluid sequentially fills the different retroperitoneal and peritoneal spaces in acute pancreatitis or ascites from cirrhosis. I agree with other commenters. Excellent work.

Dr. Nel: did you notice on this CT you showed, patients partially air-filled appendix is in the RUQ sitting between the base of liver and right kidney. It is best seen between 3:10-3:15 on video! Pretty high up. Is this appendix in the peritoneal or retro-P space? And I assume appendicitis would cause RUQ pain in this patient, maybe back or flank pain? Good video!
