DA Inquisition was always kind of a vibe for me. I like the leadership choice stuff like in the Pathfinder games. You hold a court and you make choices that impact the realm or keep.

@@threestars2164 True, the game world is incredibly static aside from a few visual changes in the maps as you progress. It doesn't matter who you pick to rule Orlais, nothing changes in the Exalted Plains as both sides remain there forever. You can choose a judgment option to have Mistress Poulin supposedly rebuild Sahrnia but that never happens in game.

I genuinely loved Dragon Age Inquisition, even as a fan of Origins. I didn't mind the open world and found the combat incredible. But the highlight were the companions. I loved Cassandra. Also i completely agree with you on Solas. My first playthrough, i thought absolutely nothing of him. Even the ending teaser of him had me scratch my head as to what was going on. But Trespasser dlc really added alot of depth and made me pay attention to him on my replays of the game.

Regarding Jaws of Hakkon, I do think that the side content is an improvement over the base game. I really liked how a lot of it tied to the central story of the zone as well. The story of the first inquisitor and how it was kept quiet by the Chantry was amazing lore.

9:51 Something I don’t like about Trespasser is that the big reveal that he’s Fen Harel is not a reveal at all because you already know that thanks to the Solas/Flemeth scene, it would have been such a cool reveal if in that scene Flemeth simply hadn’t called him “Dreadwolf” but only “old friend” because that way you would have learned that he might be someone very powerful without knowing exactly who he his and then the big reveal at the end of Trespasser

You have to remember tho at the time DA:I was finished (not shipped and sold but just done with development) trespasser hadn’t even been developed or written yet. It was the last DLC dropped so they hadn’t thought that far ahead just yet. But yes it was a bit of an early reveal. I think however the big surprise isn’t that he’s fen’harel but the lore for the veil and what he plans to do to bring back the golden age of the elves.

I replayed DAI for the third time and did pretty much a completionist playthrough of the game earlier this month. It was better than I remembered it. It also made me think that there hasn't been a decent RPG release in terms of storytelling outside of Japan except Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 in the last 10 years since DAI. At least not as great as Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk. Outside of indie games like Disco Elysium of course. The main story, companion interactions and quests (i'm talking quest and interaction not characters, outside of couple of exceptions Origins and DA2 still had better companions imo) were genuinely some of the best Bioware has done. The main quest sections in DAI was genuinely some of the best Bioware has ever done. The sad thing all the good stuff was brought down by some terrible quest design in the open world. That is not to say there weren't bad areas. Exalted Plains, Emerald Graves, Emprise Du Lions and Crestwood were some of the better done zones where the main conflict in those areas actually had some impact in the world and fit the role of the inquisitor. The main negative is the lack of cutscenes which we have been so accustomed to in Bioware games. The lack of cutscenes in dialogue was a major let down. Also the random collectibles that this game had. Why did they think this was a good idea? I also felt that this was the best iteration of Bioware's dialogue wheel. Honestly if not for the open world fluff I think it would have thoroughly deserved the GOTY award that it got. 2014 was an awful year for gaming though. The other game I remember being nominated was Shadow of Mordor. A good game making innovations with the nemesis system, but should be nowhere near GOTY. They really needed to cut down a lot of the fluff, the quests in the Hinterlands and the Hissing Wastes was horrible. 90% of it was a complete waste of time. HInterlands was a pretty looking area but that was about it. All the DLCs were great, though Jaws of Hakkon had some of the open world issues the base game had. It was a bit better but not really that much better. DAI was always a good game, not Bioware's best, not the best DA game but it was always good. It just had to live up to extremely high standards because of DAO and is constantly compared to that. But it was never a bad game. I am personally very critical of DAI but I still liked it. Also as a lore nut and especially going into it hoping for some lore into the Dreadwolf going it it back in the day during launch, this game is great. Lorewise DAI adds a ton to the franchise and probably the most important game.

Nightmare mode is not that hard if you have the right builds. There are mage class combos that synergizes with specific party members that makes all enemies very easy to defeat even on the hardest difficulty. But you need to build all characters perfectly to get there. Not just your own character but also micro manage the leveling of all the other characters as well. I have not played the game sense maybe 2016 so don't remember all the details but it was something with lightning and stunning that was so OP.
@enrique6335
@enrique6335 2 ай бұрын
Ability combos is really how this game is meant to be played, especially in higher difficulties. Bioware, in-game, does very little to explain this, leaving it to the player to discover the mechanics by themselves. Enemies are all just damage sponges and not using combos just makes combat a chore.

I do agree with anyone that says Inquisition has a lot of horrible fetch quests and collect-athons that cheapen it to the point it can seem low effort in places. But at the same time, for a general 50-60 hour playthrough, all the garbage you don't want to do absolutely can be skipped. It seems people let their desire to want to "do everything" completely take over their mindset in certain games, and this is one of them. You want some extra coin or exp points? Go do the meaningless side quests. The side quests like "find a ring" are only there if you want to do them, they aren't required to progress anywhere so just move on with your day. What I do dislike is how many side quests are left out of this conversation that are actually amazing. The temple you can find in the desert area which has tonnes of interesting lore, as well as a really cool fight at the end to return a time warp to normal and get a cool necromancer staff...Where's the mention of that? There are loads of quests like this all over the open areas. The Mayor flooding his people? Fixing pathways in the desert and gaining entry to the darkspawn infested keep? The demon that's taken over the keep in the snowy area that you can bargain with? This is all really great stuff, but it's side content that is never touched upon because people like to focus on the fetch quest rubbish that can be skipped over completely.

Rift mage you can spam power almost unlimited. However, Artificer, Tempest, Templar, and Reaver are also busted as hell in Inquisition. In the middle of nightmare with trials run in the descent dlc as a necromancer. Necromancer is not as shinny as Knight-Enchanter or as flashy as Rift mage but with fire and ice mines, energy barrage, and Walking Bomb masterwork those Walking Bomb denotation chains are glorious. Simulacrum with low health makes a Necromancer with barrier almost unkillable.

I hopped back on this weekend to one of my characters that was still in act 1, a female Qunari Mage (I completed the main game and DLCs with a few characters - including of course my first Inquisitor from 2014 and she'll be my Veilguard imported Inquisitor - A Sera romancing Rogue who disbanded the inquisition and vowed to redeem Solas). Just one short re-visit to Inquisition's world (I'm certainly not finishing this character's story this coming week!) before I'm taken to the story 10 years later. I genuinely love Inquisition (and Origins), and enjoy 2. I have hope for Veilguard, I do suspect it'll be more like 2 for me than the lofty heights of Origins and Inquisition. There's some elements I like returning from 2 too (the purple Hawke dialogue choices, and the friendship/rivalry system!)

I'm going to put all of my trust in you to give a 100% honest review on Dragon Age The Veilguard before I decided to purchase or not. You seem to know Dragon Age games, and you're not afraid to call out studios like Bethesda, even with your (a little bit worrisome) industry access. I will not trust a single mainstream source on this games review. I don't even know if I can trust SkillUp anymore Just.... please. If the game sucks, just say so. I really don't want to support Bioware anymore. But if some content creators I watch give me an honest review and say it's good, I will give it a chance I just have a feeling this game is going to be peak "modern audience" shit

I loved the channel and have watched every video you have put out; even the back catalog. So the following critique I give in good faith. I think this channel has lost a little of its original motif. The earlier videos focused on older games that you love, with some sort of personal experience attached to it. Or you diving into older games that you missed out on and giving a shot. As of late, this channel has been more geared toward the lasted releases. The history of newer games, or the previous release of a new installment, movie game etc. I would like to see you go back to the channel’s roots and try some “new” older games or talk about a game from your childhood with new eyes. Still love the channel but I’ve noticed this trend in the last few months. Keep loving games.

Loved Origins back in the day, like the second one quite a bit actually although it was a watered-down version of the original but never got around to playing this back at launch. Decided to also install and play it now before The Veilguard releases and I honestly could not get into it at all. It felt like playing an ancient relic from the past and having just come off The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for Elden Ring, Inquisition was a dull bore. Dropped it a few hours in.

If the gameplay is a struggle i'd suggest trying another combat style (you can do this by controlling a companion instead even). For example, i find 2H insufferable to play but I quite enjoy sword and board feel. It's really drastic difference in feel depending on weapon/class for basically every friend I have that played it.

Only Dragon Age 1, Mass Effect 2, or older Bioware games are worth playing. Inquisition is designed like an MMO to waste your time. Tell your friend to play something like Hogwarts Legacy instead.

I just finished the main quest after 120 hours with 10 years between Playthroughs. I still think the graphics are still good and on series X 60fps. I love the characters/story and ended up romancing Cassandra. Should have skipped all those damn shards!

Origins is very dated on some aspects (like combat), DA2 felt more like a prelude DLC rather than standalone game. Inquisition have its hickups but is IMO worthy of the title "Game of the year" and if you are a fan of the RPG genre its a must play

I came in blind to DA:I last year having never played the previous games. It was pretty good, but not captivating enough to make me want to replay. The only gripe is the DLC was TOO seamless and I accidentally finished the dreadwolf and completelt skipped the deep roads portion without realizing.

It's an okay to good game imo. Has a lot of things that really frustrate me and the overall cast isn't as good as either of the prior games to me but I did ultimately enjoy my playthrough. Trespasser both the story and gameplay changes it brought are the best parts of DAI *but* putting the real ending behind what is essentially a paywall pisses me off especially when the base game ended on blatant sequel bait.

I think this is one of those cases where if you don't mind MMOs, you're fine with the world. Kind of like Kingdoms of Amalur, but more polished. Beyond that, I really enjoyed the cast in it and it has all that DA worldbuilding goodness. Trespasser is also the best dlc that the trilogy has, imo - I even like it more than Awakening. I will say, I always disliked playing melee in DA games, and this is no exception. Clunky as always, except maybe sword and board.. Really fun as an archer or spellcaster, though.

Having just finished a complete playthrough of Inquisition, it's a game I've decided I have to skip most of the content to enjoy. First time around I wasted so much time doing the fetch quests that only gave you power, influence and a minimum of Xp as reward (same as War table missions) and not enough on more meaty sidequests. My next playthrough (whenever that is) I'll make sure to only focus on the main plot of each area and make a list of the war table missions that actually give you meaningful rewards. The areas are pretty but very empty and a completionist like myself has a hard time just stopping himself from attempting 100% runs. Even so I feel the game isn't amazing. The main story is very short and by the time I was done with it I didn't feel like any of the choices I did really changed anything about the world or the way the plot unfolded. Not helped at all by the fact the zones are extremely static and there's only a handful of cosmetic changes to show for all your effort.
