We have half a dozen different diagnostic equipment at work as no one tool does every car/thing to them.Budget dependent but a bi directional diagnostic tool is most handy. Looks like a tidy little unit. As for dpf’s we remove them and clean them properly in our purpose build DPF cleaning machine we do cars to lorry’s , as said short journeys are a killer but also the reason for it blocking ie faulty sensor, faulty glow plug, blocked vaporiser , split hose/inlet manifold , vehicle depending , Some vehicles even need headlights to be coded to the car after a replacement. Another one of your great videos. I think i will be buying one. Just to add your DPF in your car will only regenerate roughly every 300 miles depending on how you drive. Not by just taking it for a drive.

@@Toby_the_Glen I disagree Toby. I have a 2003 volvo with a 1.9 f9q diesel engine, not many modern cars can beat it on mpg. We have small kia picanto at work and those things are thirsty as hell

@@Toby_the_Glen sorry toby,they may be safer,more economical,probably not.theres old cars that can easily achieve 40 or 50 miles to the gallon.thats not really the point anyway.modern cars are fine if you dont care about driving and then throwing them away when they break.old cars are mostley fixable at home and at reasonable cost.thats why theres plenty of cars 50,60 plus years old.i really dont think there be will be many if any of todays cars lasting that long.

@@Toby_the_Glen Just not true I had a mark 1 escort a few years back 1.3 it easily did 40mpg OK it was fully tuned but so are cars today yet my 2020 fiesta was lucky to get 30mpg. Tha same car was hit in the rear by a Nissan qusqui the Nissan was a total write off and my Escort needed some repair and is still around today.

I had a fault years ago , 2 different mechanics both told me the same thing, which would have cost over £100 to fix . I then went to another mechanic and asked him if he could do the work , and he told me without even looking at the car what it was. It turned out it was a split turbo hose causing the problem. He also said that whilst his diagnostic machine cost thousands of pounds, it also says on screen ,do not go by fault codes alone.

Martin. You need to check the boost control solenoid and boost pipes on the Z19DTH for that boost leak fault code . Also check the egr. I've got the same engine in my Astra.

No worries Martin. They are pretty good strong engines with some very common issues due to the emissions add ons. Also the glow plug low voltage is usually a faulty plug or the relay. (More commonly the plugs). The plugs on these can be a pig to get out and often break. I and many other owners usually spray them in wd40 every day for a week and warm the engine up before changing them. I can't wait to see you work on the Signum.

Great review Mart, watch the oil level in the Signum if the DPF fails a regen or its blocked the diesel can end up back in the sump if this happens a lot then the engine can end up running away. We had a couple of Zafiras at work that went run away because of this, not nice when the engine redlines and you cant turn it off. Take care buddy 👍👍

@@evieemaya88 Diesels don't use a spark to create combustion so if the oil level in the sump goes to high the piston will push the oil into the cylinder and use it as fuel. You cant stop the engine by turning the key off as the only way to stop a diesel engine is by stopping its fuel supply and as it has an internal fuel supply from the sump the engine runs at full revs until it runs out of oil or seizes up. Hence its a run away engine you literally have no control over it. You can try and stall it by putting it in 1st gear and foot full on the brakes then dumping the clutch or try blocking the air intake but it's a pretty scary situation to be in.

Very well explained... Have you looked at the Pro version... I am seriously thinking towards the Pro....if it can do motorcycles. I have a friend who has a BMW and has problems.. I was informed by her that even a BMW dealer was not able to find the problem... She is also connected to a BMW club....which could be a door opener... Anyway did enjoy your video... Just used mine today and tried it on 2 different cars. Its absolutely brilliant, I'm well impressed. Emailing the health report is a nice feature. I like the fact it will scan and tell you what modules the vehicle has so there's no guessing. Tried it on a 2005 Vectra C & 2006 Grande Punto, previously i used Op-com & MultiscanECU on the laptop, but this Topdon is brilliant, just 1 device to access all the modules.

Hello mate, I’m hoping you can help, I have the 800BT, but I noticed when I plug it into Vauxhall vehicles it does the auto vin search and find it, but then comes up with a list of engine codes, what one am I suppose to select without knowing what the engine code is.

I think you are referring to what engine you have. Do you know what engine you have? If not, try googling your year to find out or it might say in your Log book.

Yeah that’s the one mate, on other cars it’s fine, but when it comes to Vauxhall, I click on the auto vin it does that fine, but then asked me to select the engine code which I don’t know

I just bought this artidiag 800 BT After the first update there is only 1.5 gigs of memory left out of 16 gigs Is there any way to delete some brands to create more space for memory ?

I don't think you actually use the memory unless you store data on your unit like recordings. Mine works great with no lag at all so I don't think it matters. I didn't install all the profiles like Indian cars ect as I don't see the point if i'm never going to use them.

@@retrorestore the problem will occur in the future when you want to update newer models I got rid of all the ones I will never use and now have 3.7 gigs of memory left This way I can update all the special functions with no problem but also be able to download Certain cars in the future I only had 1.5 gigs left after the initial update That is not a lot of space if you wanted to keep all the different manufactures

You can do all that on the unit. I added the KZbin app and watch all my videos on the unit by turning on Hotspot on my phone and the unit pairs up.

I imagine if you're going to look at a car to buy and plugged this in it would point out any areas of concern which in turn could be a good tool for getting the cost down therefore paying for the tool itself :) So on that alone I have treated myself to one, I have a few Autel ones but you have to pay for each manufacturer download. You get what you pay for... It's identical with the Thinkcar Mini. I believe the Thinkcar Mini is a bit more advanced due to the fact that you can attach accessories on the back. This one looks a bit like the older version of the Thinkcar. I returned it for various reasons, mostly because it does not come and there is no way to pair one, adapters for BMW 20 pin and Mercedes Benz 38 pin. Also, if you want to access special functions you will have to spend $50/year per brand. The bi-directional functions are considered "special functions"... So, buyers beware. Spend a bit more and get a real tool! Cheers and Merry Christmas!
