Mold is probably deep in the heating and cooling ducts for the cabin too. First step before you start on the seats is to take the air-intake filters out (usually engine compartment up by windshield wipers), run the heater fan on hot and high speed with the car running for an hour and spray TWO cans of disinfectant (like Lysol in the USA) into the air intake. The disenfectant will come shooting out of all the vents, disenfecting them, and land on your seats which is fine in this case, but you will want to make sure it's non-bleach based first.

Thank you. I almost cried when I got into my Mini and there was mold. I was medically unable to drive for a bit, and it was neglected. Here in Seattle it’s damp and yuck. Vinegar is the key. It leaves a anti-microbial layer to prevent further mold/mildew for a while, so I’m told by my PHD Pharm candidate daughter. Thank you. Great video! Hey!!! Your steering wheel is on the wrong side ;)

Here in Canada we have gallon jugs of cleaning vinegar , strong white vinegar for pickling, regular for salad dressings and baking etc and malt vinegar. Thankfully I haven't any problem here with my car, I only drive it once a week in winter. I had no idea something like this could happen.

Hello Martin. I'm so glad to see that you are wearing a respirator, instead of a particle mask. A lot of people out there claim that a particle mask is a respirator. I know you know the difference, and I'm glad. I'm also glad you pointed out safety glasses. Nothing worse than getting some kind of cleaner in your eyes. You know what, I think that car is as clean as it ever has been, even when it was brand new. Your work ethic is beyond what I can do for sure. Takes a lot of work to do what you did to the inside of that car. Now you just need to hang a little tree from the mirror.

The results compared to what it was like before are amazing! We have one of those Vax-wet vacuums as well and have been thinking of giving my Mother’s car a good going over. Gave my Vectra a clean with it last year because I had just bought it and despite the previous owner having had it pre-sale valeted, the water still came out brown like yours did. Great piece of kit these vacuums. Plus they can be used in the house for cleaning your carpets and rugs, too! 👍🏽

This is a constant battle for me with my Ford F250. It's parked at our yard in Oregon most the time I'm on the road, I'm a CDL trucker. We haven't had as much freight volume as we used to routed through our yard. So I finally got in it today and had a fair bit of mold to deal with. It's not as bad in the summers, but during our rainy season in autumn/winter/spring it tends to flare up. I need to just get me some of them bag things you can put in the vehicle. Forget what they're called, but just looks like a cloth sack with some sort of mineral mixture inside, and it absorbs moisture. Once it's "full" you can just put it in an oven to cook/evaporate the moisture out of it. Kinda like a dehumidifier but no electricity required and specifically for cars or other small enclosed spaces like garden sheds, pantries, closets, ect..

Great advice mate! Just few things to add. I gathered some info around the net. 1. How to stop vauxhall from excess humidity? I tried everything. Had 3 of them and all seems to have the same problem. Even with full heat during driving all windows becoming so foggy it's almost impossible to drive. I heard duct tape over the gap where you take out the pollen filter. Obviously you need a good clean of the surrounding area first. Apparently water gets in there. So I'll try this now. Also will change the pollen filter. 2. I seems to find massive amount of water under the spare wheel. That will be my first place to start to dry that up. And will be looking for holes, shouldn't be any TBH. Bear in mind my car just started to get small patches because I'm using it just not often enough. 3. And if you are not using your car for long periods cat litter can help a lot according to some. It's probably will cost a bit of a money, but if it's working and saves time I don't care. 4. On ebay you can find 20l of white vinegar for £18 or 10l for £15 that should be enough 😅

I kept it in the garage to protect from clear coat faluire seeing as I can’t wash the car and put protectants on it. It’s a dark not well ventilated garage so I didn’t realize it was there till after 2 months of it sitting because I turned my flash on to try and find the goodies left from the previous owner. I’ve been in a panic cause I’ve already not been able to drive and worry it’ll die or my engine will flood on me so when I realized it was covered top to bottom with mold I panicked. My fiesta is heading this way during the ongoing corona lockdowns, under the kids seats is the worst. Turned into a complete mould garden.. I'm not certain if there is a water leak or it's just from 6 months worth on condensation from being parked in the shade and frost. Lot of water on the rear floor though. We are getting another car once we can go somewhere again so it's not a big concern other than the safety aspect if we need to drive it.

@@Emiliapocalypse Nope I can't find the leak, I've looked at the door I expected to be leaking and I can't see any water coming in during heavy rain. As a detailer I charge quite a pretty penny for jobs like these. Before I even take job like this I need to assess what the source of the moisture is, if there was pooled water in the seats or carpet and in most heavy mold jobs the seats and carpet need to be removed and cleaned a minimum of 2 times and throughly dried and inspected and any carpet sound deadening that was wet gets replaced. It can take multiple days to do these jobs. Another tip is to always replace the cabin air filter if the vehicle has one.

@dustin3700 2 жыл бұрын
I personally would be around 1000-1200 depending on size if the customer wanted it to be back to the best condition it could be without replacing anything. Seems vary high until you figure removing all seats and possibly the carpet and removing the mold and sanitizing every surface and inspecting the vents and treating them if necessary and replacing the cabin filter. Looking at nearly 12+ hrs of labor. All of this depends on what the customer wants and expects, if they want it wiped down with vinegar and steamed I'll do that but I wouldn't make any promises to the results.

I use carpet extractor fluid, 5L , varies wildly in cost, about 7£ to £16, and dilutes 1:10 or 1:50. Cost per interior about or less than a £1. I wet in down first with Vulflora , about 25 pence diluted, then the carpet extractor fluid over, let them dwell 15 mins. Only used steamer one car this year, on dog saliva brown soil seats......... that was in Dec too I struggle with mould once got to black dots. Mask a solid idea. Turning bad interiors around easy and theraputic On the doors I use another type of Carpet Extractor fluid and use it to wet them out, I use an APC on the grubby bits 1:10 ish then rinse down more 1:50 carpet extractor, then wipe down microfibres. The Vulflora keeps the smell neutral for weeks , think it seeps into the base and foam in the sit. Only for budget cars sell under £2999 one off cleans

Hi Martin I’d said in the last video about fabric softener 50/50 mix but just this week I’ve discovered dettol now do a tin spray called dettol all in one and it’s suitable for soft furnishings and obviously being dettol has the old (kills 99.9%) on the tin bud👍🏼 and more to the point it’s only 3quid in Tesco’s 👍🏼👍🏼 and it’s grand I’ve done the car seats, settee, kids car seat and nothing has any doggy marks on it so it’s good stuff in my opinion and an antibacterial spray for £3 👌🏼

I wonder what it looks like UNDER the seats. I would have pulled the seats out and cleaned the underside of them as they may be full of mold and mildew. It would also have made cleaning the carpet easier too. Other than that, I think this gentleman did an excellent job. Thank you for posting this video as I have some similar mold and mildew cleaning on one of my cars.

It will be water leaking down the windscreen and strait past pollen filter intake duct gasket where in seals on to bulkhead. Common on all gm cars.Whilst your in there, grease up wiper linkages and remove drain boots.

Had the same thing happen with an old Landy she sat for a while with broken back window cleaned it up with steam cleaner and fixed back window and it was fine i did put a few damp pots in her and ran her with heaters on for while. I have tried the vax to clean car before but they say it does a great job.
