When I was 7, Resident Evil 4 was released. I had saved my money to buy it for months. My grandpa finally took me to the store to get it, but it was sold out. I decided to get RE outbreak, file 2 instead; I really wanted a new game. I played it, but it wasn’t very fun. I had seen RE 4 in magazines and it looked so fun, and I was upset. I came home from school a week later and there was a bag on my bed. My grandpa had called stores to find out who had RE 4, and drove an hour away to get it for me. That game holds a special place for me even today.

You’ve inspired me Retro, I’ve decided to attempt the self-sustaining game collection as of yesterday. On my first day looking I managed to find in my own small town on FB market a snes collection (SNES with all cords, one controller, 22 games) with a ps1 plus controller for $220. All the games came with manuals and will easily recoup the cost with just 5-6 games sold. The biggest win in that collection was Skyblazer with manual on SNES. You rock!

This is one of my favorite series on KZbin right now. I’ve been passively into collecting retro games for about a year or so now but really got super into it over these past few months. This series inspired me to go out and find local video game stores and secondhand stores that I never knew existed before, and even ask my neighbors about games they might want to get rid of. My disappointing game is Steeldiver. I was always fascinated by it bc of how unique it was + it was a 3DS launch title but when I got around to buying and playing it a many years after, I was super disappointed. Not a very fun game

I fully understand wanting to do other things creatively and not type cast yourself doing just this, but this series has been the most entertaining thing to watch for me on KZbin. Hands down. I've started doing this myself and have taken what I've learned from you doing it and I'm addicted to it now. I can't get enough of these videos and I'm sure I speak for a lot of us when I say that. Christmas of 1989, my grandad bought me one. I remember that he came over at night, it must've been around Christmas Eve, and everyone wanted me to open his gift....I had no idea what was going on, but my mind melted when I ripped open the package to read "Action Set." Honestly, the $10 game collection challenge is so awesome. I would hate for the series to be killed. This series gave me a lot of hope in my own collection since I've never had a huge fund to do this. Not only that, I've learned so much from the series too. This summer had some huge growth in the game collection funds because of those oddball items you point out are worth money. It's been especially hard lately finding good game hunting shows that have consistent upload schedules and that I like. Pat the NES Punk basically stopped making them and the Game Chasers only have an episode every couple of months (which is understandable since the production value is so high). I've found this and Collector's Luck to be the only two game hunting shows I not only like, but upload regularly.

I just recently had a game I was pumped to play that turned out to be a let down. Paper Mario and the origami king was a major let down. It’s my 1st paper Mario and I was expecting a good RPG but it is no where near the level of the Mario and Luigi games
@retrorick4 жыл бұрын
You are the second person that has said that about that game!
@Mycreeperwii4 жыл бұрын
Personally, I think that the origami king is great. It wasn’t a let down for me, because Paper Mario is much less of an RPG today. If you go in with the mindset that you really want an RPG, it’s not gonna be great, but if you go in with the mindset that you want a new mario game with the paper style, it’ll be fine. Paper Mario the origami king is trying to be much more of an “exploration” game, and much less of an RPG, so for anyone else thinking about getting it, make sure to take that into consideration.
@Matt926854 жыл бұрын
Mycreeperwii I would agree with everything you said here. I would enjoy the game a lot more if they got rid of the battles all together and made it an exploratory game. The battles take so long and because coins and confetti are so abundant in the game you basically gain nothing from the battles. I can tell it was a well made game and I am still trying to give it a chance.( on the 3rd streamer) As of right now the game dose not pull make back in and make me want to keep playing.

Some of the other Bond games I liked, The World is not enough on the N64 and later Everything or Nothing. Really have liked the series, hate to hear about the event in October was cancelled. I'd suggest still plan to end about when you did, think about ways to sell those you don't want. I'm sure a lot of the series followers wouldn't mind to take some off your hands for a price, a lot of great items in there. Start a new series possibly, probably not on a strict weekly schedule as that is a lot.

I just found your channel and am really enjoying it! Glad I’m not the only one who hunts at thrift stores. And that was a good question. I remember being so excited to get yoshis story for my birthday (I think I was like 10 or 11). But man I was disappointed it was just way too simple and kiddy for me even though I’ve always enjoyed Nintendo games and I usually like games like Kirby that are easy but man I remember my friends and I being all excited about it and then I told them it was lame haha.

You allready more than proved your point on the concept. Now I just love the finds and watching the collection grow 😍 My biggest regret as far as games go, was Rise of the Robots on the snes....it looked so cool....but deffinitely wasn't 😶

I love this series, but also equally enjoy your other videos. My suggestion is to keep going but maybe make it an every other week or once a month video. Keep up the good work Rick. 😀

I really wanted to get Astyanax for NES when I was very young. The box art screamed ADVENTURE!! Though I think this a good game now, I was not expecting what inexperienced that first play through. I still played the crap out of it. As for the series, bi-weekly would be fine with me. We don’t want to stifle your creativity sir. Keep up the great work!

I only found you a few days ago and this is the series I prefer to watch, I encourage you to continue with it if not on a bi weekly basis until next retrocon. That being said continue to expand your creativity and try new things ! Dont limit yourself or be a one trick pony.

Rick, I've noticed that your channel has been growing a lot lately. I think it's pretty obvious, if you look at the views compared to some of your other content, that the $10 game collection series is great for your channel! I hope you don't decide to quit any time soon, but I could understand going to a bi-weekly format

I enjoyed this series a lot. Even follow some of your tips. Today I found my neighbor Totoro for ten cent. Once it sell I will used it to buy your list of DVD. The game I excited to play as a kid and ended up hating is the Simpson wrestling and skateboard.

I know this is 2 years old but to this day , I have not been able to play the 1st game. Metal kombat for the super nintendo needed a super scope to play it. im 34, and I have not played the 1st game of my childhood, seeing your videos made me want to purchase a CIB metal Kombat and scope if I can find it ;) keep up the great videos, you got me going to goodwill and checking for wii sports resort.

I scored big the other week, had a video store in my town still believe it or not but Covid took it out for good. They were getting rid of everything for a sale of 50 items for $10, got 4K ultra hd movies along with some blu rays but the best part were all the old movies I found.

I love this series--it's a fantastic idea and really encourages people to keep at it when collecting. Always full of great tips and things to watch out for. That being said, it could scale back to less than weekly. That would encourage a good variety to continue on the channel to keep looking at all things retro and nostalgic and maybe help to ensure you wouldn't get burnt out on the same project. Oh man, growing up I was such a sucker for anything Simpsons and Bart's Nightmare looked incredible! I saved and saved and saved and when I finally had the dough I took the leap...and wow... I don't know so much if it's a terrible game...but wow, it let me down on so many levels. That was the game that kept me away from anything licensed for a long, long time. BTW--same tip we often encourage when looking for PS1 games within CD stacks at flea markets.

Awesome scores like always on games Retro.. 👍 Id like to see how many would agree on this game. But id have to say as a kid my all time disappointment game 🎮 would have to be NES Double Dragon 🐉. I save up and my mother took me to Hills Dept store...i so wanted a home version of the arcade.. Soon as i got it home and played it I asked my mom if we could take it back and get another game. 😥 Now on your $10 game 🎮 collection You should so keep it going... Even if you have to only say 1 video every 2 wks So you can spend more family time and other personal and work related issues. See just how far you can go with your $10 game 🎮 collection.. 👍👍

I got Hydlide for the NES for Christmas. Never heard of it, but going off the back of the box, it looked interesting. Then I opened it and played it...Oh the horror. Funny thing is, I still have it.

Well like many other super hero fans, I was so excited to get Superman for the N64. I had to convince myself that i liked It and kept playing, but I think that experience has left a scar for life.
