Yes, beejls. And did you notice, only 3 min commercial breaks? Plus, no bombardment of day-glow or zooming lights enveloping the set, interjecting bars of synthetic “music” with every pause or camera shift and almost no shouting (barring Lynn Redgrave not being respectfully allowed to know completion of the question is required before signaling).

@@peaceshepherding529 1966 Star Trek was 51 to 9, 1987 TNG was 46 to 14, 1993 Babylon 5 was 42.5 to 17.5 When the Simpsons started it was 4-5 minutes of commercials now it's over 10 for HALF an hour. Now I don't even care because it's all 💩 but last I knew most hour long shows these days are usually under 40 for the show and over 20 for commercials.

Man, I used to have such a thing for Duchovny, and I grew up reading Stephen King. I watched this episode live when it came out. I used to watch every day with my mother when that was still an option. Seeing this again, with the commercials intact was a surreal and delightful experience. Specifically, the Newsradio spot with the briefest clip of Phil Hartman. I was just a kid then, I wasn't prepared for the losses to come, and this brings me a lot of feelings of the quietness of my youth that I treasured. Anyway, what are frogs?

I'm really glad this brought back some happy memories for you! It's funny because there have been a few people that left comments complaining about the commercials being left in, but they clearly don't understand the purpose of my channel. It's the full experience of commercials along with old TV that dredges up those memories that can take you back to those happy times in your past.

I've always liked the Sushi Bar set, myself, but I was born just in the last few months of the Grid set, in which I can still remember seeing just a little bit of blue, surrounding the contestants and Alex, too. She showed up because the Jeopardy people asked her and she thought it would be a fun way to earn some money for her charity while informing other people that her charity exists. Have you never seen a celebrity jeopardy episode before? This was actually pretty tame in terms of "one contestant seems to be insane and has never heard of anything before" compared to other episodes.

I never wondered where the SNL parodies of Jeopardy found their inspiration - like a lot of other SNL comedy skits, they were directly lifted from the original SCTV parodies of Jeopardy with Eugene Levy playing the Alex Trebek character.
@retrovancouver

Those weren't Jeopardy parodies specifically. Jeopardy started in 1984, SCTV ended in 1982.

@@retrovancouver In 1981, SCTV was picked up by NBC in the US when Martin Short joined the cast. After a short run on NBC, the final season of the show was renamed "SCTV Channel" and broadcast in the US by Cinemax from 1983-84. Short appeared in the skit I'm referring to, which Alex Trebek said was his favorite parody of the show.
