Check out Paul O'D's grip on the handles.... he is working on an inboard of about 85cm with that 3cm of handle protruding. Such a hard man. Serious business indeed, speaking serious truths after the warm-up at the Olympics.

What fantastic fellas they are....done us proud🇨🇮🇨🇮....will u explain that " grip on handles" bizz please??
@matthewhackett17103 жыл бұрын
@@charlescampbell1319 If you pause the video, and see where P O'D holds his handles, his hands are way from the end, the normal grip with thumbs over the end of the grip. His thumbs are under the handle (not an easy place) to get a 'less moving' position, like a heavier weight. (shorter inboard = more rigid / longer inboard = more easy moving-easier loading). If he cut the ends of the handle off to be able to put his thumbs on the end, that would be seen as a very hard rig.

@@matthewhackett1710 ahhh!!I understand now....and I looked at the vid.... great explanation from u👌.... on the face of it POD seems to be making his job more difficult...he must have some power💪💪
@matthewhackett17103 жыл бұрын
@@charlescampbell1319 Indeed, he must thrive on taking on very heavy tasks! Rowing is simply energy in = progress, where the gearing on the blades should not matter massively, but considerations of "comfort" usually dictate a 88cm inboard for this boat class/speed.
