@@theskidfactory Nice. I've had many dogs in my life, but never a Ridgeback. However, they are a beautiful, loyal and protective dog. And Rumbles looks awesome. My best mate Jack is 16 now. He's a Cattle dog with a bunch of other stuff in him. He's near deaf and his back legs aren't what they used to be, but he's lived an adventurous life. Dunno what I'll do when he goes. He was the son of one of my other dogs and his mother was my soulmate's girl. He's more a son than a pet.

The Holden Trimatic gearbox was chosen by Rolls Royce for their cars so they bought the rights from Australia. When they tried to put it in their cars, it did not work. Rolls Royce contacted the Australian manufacturers to find out why. The response was to ask what RR had done, they were told that RR had built the box exactly to specifications which they were told was the problem. RR was told to get rough & work on the basis that near enough is good enough which they proceeded to do. The result was that the box worked perfectly. During WW11 RR sent aircraft engines to the US to be used in aircraft there. The engines were assembled & didn't work so the Septics contacted RR to complain. When RR asked what the Americans had done, they were told the engines were removed from their packaging & assembled. RR told the Yanks that was their problem- the components needed to be polished before assembly!

If both the oil pressure and temp gauges are in one binnacle that's a Production Option UD1, quite rare and most commonly found as part of the 'Police special build'. If the temp and oil gauges are in seperate binnacles that'd be a Statesman deVille dash. Some production numbers HQ (late 70-74) 485,000 ish units. HJ (late 74 - mid 76) 176,000 ish units, massive numbers for Australia when our population at the time was only around 13 million.
