@Pete Mason I'm a Ford guy but I will say these are a sweet little motor. 351 not a fair comparison, it has more cubes and there's no substitute for cubic inches, except maybe a turbo lol. Compare it to a 302 that doesn't split the block at 500 - 600 up. They can be made to scream, well over 1000hp on factory block.

Agree with Allan on making things look like they were meant to be. It's more of a pain, but a clean factory appearing install is worth it. Also loved the grey hair joke at Woody's expense, hahaha

im starting to realise that the skid factory builds cars with engines that are not the obvious choice. and its very refreshing.
@MattyFielding6
@MattyFielding6 4 жыл бұрын
This engine was a fairly common swap in the pre LS era. Even more retained the original bottom end and just used the heads from the EFI 304 "iron lion" with cam, headers and intake manifold to suit carb.
@DragoserakerIT
@DragoserakerIT 4 жыл бұрын
@@MattyFielding6 I get that. It's more that in the days of ls/SR20/2jz/coyote being the go to options for almost every swap it's refreshing to see older swaps still being done. This could have easily become an ls swap but it didn't and I appreciate that.

Little known fact - Chevrolet (GMC) Started producing the Kingswood in america in the 1950's (56?) and produced it all the way into the early 70's. All though less popular due to completion with the Suburban (america's longest running production car) There are still many good examples of Chevrolet Kingswood wagon's floating around the USA if someone wanted to replicate this build in america ;)

Learn from my mistakes using a cutting disc as a grinding disc mate. I would hate for you or anyone to go through what I did with a cutting disc shattering and hitting two blokes in the throat and face. I'm a boilermaker so I have plenty of experience and it was a costly and impatient mistake that I have to live with. Could never afford to find WB radiators on my budget back when I thought I could afford to play around on older Holdens so used to use Ford XC radiators as they were crossflow & had the inlet/outlet on the appropriate corners for the Holden V8s... I used to try & steer clear of auto's myself & for same reasons above never had anything to do with Turbo 700's (They were still new here in Oz at the time!) so have no first-hand knowledge on the matter, but from a fairly reliable source I was told the Turbo400 crossmember was a zero modification/bolt-in job for the Turbo700 boxes... Pickle me Grandmother, next time Woodrigos starts up with that "Iron Lion" malarkey, please drown him in Bullpit references & quotes! ;) Thanks again fella's, very much enjoying this series!

Hey guys, great content as always. Had a quick question - not a criticism, just wondering: Any reason why you extended the bottom of the fan shroud instead of the top? It looked like the bottom was already longer, so extending the bottom puts the fans further away from the center of the radiator. Thanks!
