Titanic: Honor and Glory

Titanic: Honor and Glory

5 жыл бұрын

With the first class lounge almost completed for the game, it's time to look back...
Tom and Matt made a trip to the White Swan Hotel in Alnwick back in 2015, home to the Olympic Lounge paneling.
Three years later, Chris and Matt make a stop again, and find out the room is still full of discoveries!
We apologize for the poor audio at some points- this was an impromptu trip and an even more impromptu video!

When you see most of the first class areas, and even some second class areas, you know the Olympic Class in general, was not just a trio of, huge potent machines with the capacity to cross the Atlantic in a week; You realize they were true, delicate art masterpieces, and the future of modern ships dedicated to the passenger transport.

Class? Really? I honestly thought that 'cosplay' was some sort of mental disorder, or at least an alarming sign of extreme insecurity and overcompensation of a total lack of self-esteem. It's like hiding behind a mask all the time. I actually feel sorry for him, especially now, after losing his leading role in the THG project.
@destinationunknown8373
@destinationunknown8373 3 жыл бұрын
@@j.vonhogen9650 I can understand what you mean about the hiding sort of idea. But, for me, I'm happy to say is untrue. Most of the time, I'll wear things that I enjoy, not what society would persist exactly for me to wear, but things that express my own personality my own way. It's pretty often I come home now in a casual button up shirt and my hands are covered in dirt from working. I wouldn't quite know for Tom though. Though I do enjoy the project, I didn't really follow close enough to know the crew personally. Whatever the case, I can just certainly say I appreciate people who Dress to look classy like this.
@j.vonhogen9650
@j.vonhogen9650 3 жыл бұрын
@@destinationunknown8373 - Thanks for your kind reply! I realize that I should have emphasized in my comment that I was talking specifically about 'cosplay', not about dressing for the occasion in a classy, distinguished or even sophisticated way, which is just a way to show respect for the occasion and for the people who invited the guests. I wear classic fit suits myself (the traditional cut/custom-tailored/gentleman style) whenever the occasion calls for it, and I don't mind it at all. I thought you were talking about Tom's habit of role-playing in unusual costumes (like wearing a captain's uniform, 19th century style formal evening clothes, traditional local outfits, historical clothes, etcetera). I have been concerned about that for quite a while, since I thought it was a distraction from the project and its progress, and to me it always felt like he was hiding something. Although I no longer think that 'cosplaying'/roleplaying is a symptom or even an indication of mental issues, I have seen people that I cared about dressing up like very successful people just to escape their personal feelings of failure and their lack of self-confidence and self-esteem. Whenever I see someone who is obviously going through a tough time dressing in exuberant clothes, period costumes and expensive over-the-top business suits that scream "look at me, I'm successful", it breaks my heart. Nobody should feel forced to hide their problems or failures behind a mask by pretending to be someone else through clothing or by keeping up appearances in any other ostentatious way. To be honest, I don't know Tom's actual motivations, but I do know about the problems he has had trying to turn the already wonderful THG project into a super-ambitious, high-profile tripple-A game development project, while being under attack by fans and having serious conflicts with colleagues and team members. To me, it looked as if he had been in denial about the obvious problems with THG for way too long. Watching him 'dress for success' all the time, and seeing him do all this weird roleplaying/cosplaying despite the failure to deliver on his many promises, looked rather tragic and painful to me. His departure from the project seemed inevitable, and I hope both the THG team and Tom will eventually benefit from it. FWIW, the THG team looks more dedicated and motivated than ever.

I'd once heard that James Cameron's Titanic movie would have been impossible because mixing between First and Third class patrons was forbidden for sanitary/health reasons. Jack could have been imprisoned and shipped back to Europe had he tried meeting with Rose in person. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?
@rarevhsuploads4995
@rarevhsuploads4995 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is the real reason the classes were separated. It was American immigration law. At Ellis island the 3rd Class passengers went through health checks. Those that failed were deported back to Europe at the shipping companies expense.

I have a Question.. it's more about the movie Titanic though... Remember when they were announcing dinner like a damn cavalry charge? and that Molly gave that suit to Jack... Well, afterwards we see Jack entering the Grand Staircase from Boat Deck... wasn't Molly's Cabin supposed to be on E-Deck or sumthin'? What the h3ll was he doing upstairs, and did he have enough time to get dressed for dinner and then go all the way up and still get in time for dinner? Also the same thing applies to Rose, Cal and Ruth since they were on B-Deck right? but they all entered the Grand Staircase from Boat-Deck .... Like.. why?.. how?! Women are not supposed to get dressed that fast... right? And they still arrived in time for dinner although the sun was dying already... hmmmmm
@andrewsbestship

yes, it is an illogical entry. This was a directorial choice of Cameron to show the grand staircase and the dome in the movie before showing the first-class dining room
@thomasandrewsjr6520
@thomasandrewsjr6520 5 жыл бұрын
Danielito 1 an steward with an bugel reported when it was time to dress before dinner since most first class passengers had dinner clothes. 2 many historians and even James Cameron tought that Margaret slept in an cabin on B-deck but with some research historians found out that it was on E-deck (in the “Ghost of the Abyss” expedition in 2001 they tried to look for it since she said she slept in an brass bed). 3 The fact that “Jack” is walking down from the boat deck landing is the make an real life reacreation of an painting of Ken Marshall and is played for dramatic effects. 4 fun fact: the suite B-52, B-54 and B-56 was in real life occupied by Mr. Joseph Bruce Ismay the chairman of the White Stat Line and the sitting room is in the wrong style and is even made bigger, just like the grand staircase.
@theproplady
@theproplady 5 жыл бұрын
There are tons of inaccuracies in the Titanic movie. For instance, E Decks and B Decks looked nothing like they did in the movie. The Master At Arms shack where Jack is imprisoned was actually located in the E Deck interior, not in a room with a porthole. These changes were made for dramatic purposes.
