I was stationed at Homestead AirForce Base from 1977-80,I can remember the city had alot of Senior Mobile Home Parks then,I'm sure that changed after Hurricsne Andrew and the more strict building codes.

My grandparents moved to Homestead in the 1920’s. They built their final home on 5 acres at 28701 SW 182 Ave. in 58. Right down the road from Fuchs Orchids in the Redlands. My mom said it was an awesome place to grow up. We moved ( my mom and grandma) to Franklin, NC in 81. I’m your age, Robert. I haven’t been through Homestead since 2011 and the old house still looks good. Mitchell Lumber owner is an old family friend. You are some of a celebrity it seems! Great job singing. Jim Well it’s easy to find, on the corner of Biscayne and Roberts Road! Colonial brick ranch ( not the typical Florida house). The fancy pool on back I see on Google Earth was added way after we left. The place is very special to me. I would climb up in the Avocado trees in the grove when I was little. Funny but true story, we were on vacation staying in Homestead and decided to buy a key lime pie at a local bakery advertised along the road. We get back to where we were staying and cut the pie only to see it was yellow not green! We were so disappointed and figured it was a mistake they gave us a lemon instead of key lime. We drive back to bakery with pie only to be told no mistake key lime pie is yellow not green! These were pre internet days so no way to research it, at least on vacation. We still have family laughs about that from time to time!

Mr. Koivisto, per the DJ, please make sure he knows about this and also the videos on Robert's personal youtube channel that features him. Great guy. Per Southern Comfort Campground, it is the people, close to everything, yet not over priced like you get along the Coast North of Miami and in the Keys. A lot of improvements have been made the past few years. Has the old style feel too, not all concrete or stone like so many are now.

@@forry100 I ran into a couple in another state and during conversation it was brought up that I live in Homestead. They were raving about the RV park and how it's one of the best ones they've ever stayed at. Like I said, I live here, so to me it doesn't seem that big a deal.

@@mr.koivisto6975 not sure it would be considered one of the best, but compared to what you pay in most of FL and how you get treated it is very good, but you must accept an older park too. But as you know it sure beats the RV park that is near Krome. Another fan of Robert's stayed at the one North off of US1 that has house trailers too and while it looked nice, they were not too happy. If we are allowed back this winter and we can do another meetup for Robert, hope you can make it.

So cool seeing Alabama Jacks. Incredible conch fritters! I would recommend to anyone who is coming to the Keys for the first time to take the Card Sound road off US 1. If nothing else, the view of the sound and the extensive mangrove hammock from the top of the bridge is worth the trip. Definitely less traffic, too. Thanks for showcasing South Florida!

Visited the Keys in August 1992 and stopped in Homestead on Sunday, Aug. 16. A week later I watched TV coverage in horror as Hurricane Andrew devastated the city. Good to see how well the area has recovered, which must have been a long and painful process. Thanks for the tour.

Randy, Robert is Here has a book about their story and they mention Andrew. The main fruit stand actually held up while most did not. The RIH family home took a hit and it was a very sad time for them, as they had family from out of state with them as they had just had the funeral of Robert's (fruit stand Robert) mom, who had been murdered a week before. The stand was the first to have restored power because they were taking care of all the electric company workers and others working the clean, making sure they had meals when all others had been closed and/or destroyed. I can tell you they are a family that truly cares about others.

Robert Is Here. They have a great book about their story, something else. Robert and his parents moved from Chicago area to Homestead back when he was a small child, thinking around 4. Little Robert (Robert Jr) is a great friend too. We always have a good time, but it goes by way too fast. IF we only had known what laid ahead, think Robert and his wife might have extended their weekend, but who would have known. Oh if meetups can be done when he gets back to Ohio it will be done, maybe more than one. If not a large group, maybe a few of us still can get together.

They were and we will return after this virus is not a concern and Robert will mount his camera to the front of the kart for an even better view. The video does not really show how much you feel the speed of the public carts, especially compared to the pros that can go almost twice the speed. The public races are only 8 minutes but you will be glad to take a break between races at the 8 minute point, it gives you a work out.

We went to the Keys last year. It was paradise. Next time we will add a couple of days in Homestead. Not bad for a town most people just pass through to get to the Keys. We are not RVers. You always give us great travel ideas. You also have me thinking of becoming an RVer. Recent gas prices are a killer though. Thinking of a used B class Van. @Jim Agent 182, Southern Comfort does have RV's and cabins you can rent by the week. We have also tent camped there too when in town without our 5th wheel. We have also stayed at Fairway Inn on US 1, right before you get to the blue wall. Older, but very nice, nice pool and great breakfast. Their entrance is also the Visitors office location, Florida City address.

It usually is sunny, but I must say our time in FL from mid Jan to end of March, the time from mid Jan to mid Feb had more cool and cloudy days than ever in the past, then it seemed to clear out and go back to normal.

If I am correct they have met before, the cool part was this was unplanned. Robert may want to delete this, but I personally was disappointed that Robert did a shout out to them on his other platforms within a day of that day and of course in this video, but they did not do the same, in there video of Biscayne, NOT one word about Robert. I have since found out, that they just do not promote others, it is not personal towards Robert, it's just not there thing. That is what makes Traveling Robert so special, he promotes others, has given a platform for the unknowns to become known and grow there channel.

Robert, I love your videos. My wife and I look forward to watching them each week. It pains me to do this, but I’m going to offer a small criticism. I felt that you could have done a little better job interviewing Robert and his son, especially the son; you borderline shut him down. They have a fascinating story I would have liked to hear more of it. Like I said, we love your channel. Like the previous comment states, remember, Florida and many of the attractions are old hat to you, but for many of the rest of us , it’s the best part. Thank you for working hard to crank out these great videos.

@Slim Vtwin, I do not think it was on purpose, but to keep things moving as many people want things fast and on to the next clip. But I hope to get Traveling Robert back to Robert is Here and do more, I know there is even more to their story and more fruit to learn about and that part of this video has been more popular than I thought it would be. I do know that Robert is Here would LOVE to have Traveling Robert back after this virus mess if over, in fact Little Robert is willing to take Traveling Robert up in a small plane to give him a special view of South FL that can only be done that way. I think most of the viewers would love to see that view too. I continue to learn each winter how much there is to do and see, just in Traveling Robert's home area.
