I am not a woods man. But I do enjoy the forest. I love a good camp fire. When I was a kid, I built several tree houses on my parents 10 acres of woods in Massachusetts. I have gone "camping" when I was in my twenties. I have slept in tents with a river of water flowing under my sleeping bag. I have slept in the bed of a truck in a torrential rain storm with just a plywood roof. Got soaked to the bone. Went camping In a 72 Matador 4 dr sedan, (that was my "tent").. and in an actual camper, slept on the floor. My friends and I were HEAVY drinkers. Way too many years wasted, being wasted. My generation, my gang of friends were all into partying. We had parties every weekend all year round, and went clubbing during the work week. I still love the outdoors, but to watch you Joe...is incredible. You can be comfortable in freezing weather, sleeping in a lean to.! I don't think I could do that. I need a tent or truck bed or something with walls to feel safe enough to sleep ! I don't know how you do it !. Be safe man ! Peace ! matt.

Joe, one of the most enjoyable aspects or your video is the ease and comfort with which you communicate through the lens. So many vloggers are stiff automotons, or just reading a script. Joe, if you get a tree stuck like that try sticking your axe in the end of the tree so that you can use it as a lever to rotate/twist the tree as you shake it free. Sometimes it isn't possible, but on that one it looked like it would have worked wonders. "Turn the key to get you free!" if you get stuck in branches again.

Joe, a good material choice for char cloth is oil lamp wicking because it's far more durable than denim or cotton T-shirts. Also, it's good to carry a candle when using char cloth. Try to get the candle lit with, or even before, the bird's nest. The candle then becomes a steady match to relight the bird's nest.
