I am not a woods man. But I do enjoy the forest. I love a good camp fire. When I was a kid, I built several tree houses on my parents 10 acres of woods in Massachusetts. I have gone "camping" when I was in my twenties. I have slept in tents with a river of water flowing under my sleeping bag. I have slept in the bed of a truck in a torrential rain storm with just a plywood roof. Got soaked to the bone. Went camping In a 72 Matador 4 dr sedan, (that was my "tent").. and in an actual camper, slept on the floor. My friends and I were HEAVY drinkers. Way too many years wasted, being wasted. My generation, my gang of friends were all into partying. We had parties every weekend all year round, and went clubbing during the work week. I still love the outdoors, but to watch you Joe...is incredible. You can be comfortable in freezing weather, sleeping in a lean to.! I don't think I could do that. I need a tent or truck bed or something with walls to feel safe enough to sleep ! I don't know how you do it !. Be safe man ! Peace ! matt.

Joe, one of the most enjoyable aspects or your video is the ease and comfort with which you communicate through the lens. So many vloggers are stiff automotons, or just reading a script. You talk as if we're right there with you. If you have that presence in public speaking engagements, you'll go far.

Joe, if you get a tree stuck like that try sticking your axe in the end of the tree so that you can use it as a lever to rotate/twist the tree as you shake it free. Joe, a good material choice for char cloth is oil lamp wicking because it's far more durable than denim or cotton T-shirts. Also, it's good to carry a candle when using char cloth. Try to get the candle lit with, or even before, the bird's nest. The candle then becomes a steady match to relight the bird's nest.

Hey Joe, Love your channel. I was living in Thunder Bay for 15 years and could find sanctuary in the bush. Unfortunately I moved back to Ottawa for work. I miss the peace I could find in the bush in northern Ontario Watching your videos brings me back to those days. We miss Scout. He was a great partner.

Matt Squad What a nice offer but someone as nice as you deserves the love this dog has to give. You and your dog need to do Joe and Scout stuff together.

The beginning of this video I think was awesome in how you explain the differences in charred cloth and the different uses of flint, steel, etc., For people like me that don't get to do this type of stuff as often as others knowing these things helps tremendously for when we do get a chance to get to the outdoors. Thanks, @JoeRobinet!!
