Thankyou for this video. I was 17 when this car was piloted by Andretti and Super Swede. I was utterly devastated by Ronnie's death. I cried. I think this is the most beautiful F1 car of all. There is only one livery for this car that should be allowed - the JPS/Olympus one (interestingly, I bought the revolutionary Olympus OM-2 SLR camera for myself that very same year). I race in simracing, using the Sony PS5 console and VR2 virtual reality headset. There is only one other F1 car - a 1965 Honda RA272 - that is in the 'game'. Driving these old bangers in virtual reality is the most immersive, exhilarating experience. My big hope is that Polyphony Digital bring this car and some of its contemporaries into the game. I'd be in Heaven. EDIT: For those F1/Lotus 79 fans out there, Chris Harris drove the 79 for Top Gear, and was even allowed to do ONE lap with the skirts down. Amazing.

Great video! That's how F1 cars are supposed to sound, ... nasty. And I'm amazed at some of the negative comments. Dayton is doing what is essentially an exhibition run, and not a "real" race, and he's on a set of Avons, made especially for vintage formula cars, and far from the ideal, original tires. Anyone who saw these cars back in the day knows that they were far from the ultra-precise slot-cars we have today. They were much more on a "point-and-shoot" deal.

I don't want to reignite the hands debate, but my immediate assumption was that his left hand was higher while shifting because it gives him more anti-clockwise travel on the wheel to correct oversteer in right turns. Smith Hawkins I’m a trained racing instructor and personally I would pull this guy over after one lap. The correct technique for proper and safe control of the car is to hold your hands in one place at all times, preferably quarter to three.
@RobManser774 жыл бұрын
Smith Hawkins When changing gear you should do so and then immediately put your right hand back on the wheel. You shouldn’t change gear in a corner, and therefore be driving through every corner with both hands on the wheel. Hands should stay in one place for balanced control. In any single seater lock to lock is possible without changing hand position to enable this safe and fast driving technique. This guy is dangerous, and not in full control.
