For 25 years, our youth has seen grown ups showing more and more violence towards each other and the governments: Seattle WTO riots, Rodney King riots of 94, Arab Spring of 2011, mass shootings in Virginia Tech, Parkland, Las Vegas, El Paso, Buffalo, Pittsburgh: Occupy Wall Street and the police actions towards them; Charlottesville, Summer of 2020 George Floyd protests and looting: Black Lives Matter protests: January 6, 2021 insurrection in Washington D.C. This is the direct result of watching how grown ups act and then emulating them once they decide to show how they feel about a subject. Our young people have learned that only shows of violence or threats of violence can get what they want.

Setting up these encampments is not productive. Protest peacefully and go about your day. Be a contributor to society, not an inhibitor. People protesting where we live come out on the weekends, stand at the side of rhe roads with signs. They don't scream their beliefs, they hold up their signs in silence and the community walks up to them and have decent conversations a out their cause and then they go home at the end of the day and continue their day jobs during the week. Thats a proper way to protest.

⁠@@YTPartyTonight as someone who has participated processed and help organize them going back almost 30 years, I will flat out that encampments and occupied movements that shut down sections of cities or block, major arteries LOSE PUBLIC SUPPORT. When organizing protest, it’s important to do so in a manner and in the location that gets maximum attention, but maintains legitimacy. It is a balance and if that balance is lost with more emphasis going on maximizing attention there is a serious risk of not losing support, but building support for the opposing view. I bet you also believe that massive disruptive protests are the only way to make change? I can also tell you that I have accomplished far more with lobby and actively engaging with the organizations and politicians. That’s how real change happens. Protests are helpful because they draw attention to the movement and the demonstrate to those in power (political or business) the cares and is paying attention. But when protests go too far and not only draw attention to the movement, but swinging public opinion away from those protesting, it has the exact opposite effect from what protesters want. In the day and age of social media these types of protests are even less important and less effective at spreading a message and building support. Even worse they are more likely to backfire because of misinformation and disinformation that is spread via social media.

This is what's really going on: The UN's leaders prefer to maintain the Palestinians' refugees status because they get tons of money and power in behalf of the "Palestinian cause". The UN have 2 refugees agencies - UNHCR for around 100mil refugees around the world, and UNRWA only for the Palestinians. It's just absurd that the Palestinians still see themselves as refugees for 75 years. They could already have their own country but their leaders have refused any attempt for peace during the history (including the Oslo and Camp David talks in the 90s and 00s) and have never offered an alternative. Their "refugees camps" (prior to Oct-7th) are actually proper cities. Their leaders are corrupted, they prefer to get the money coming from donations, keep the people poor, and always blame Israel for all their problem. They teach their ppl about war and revenge (over events from the last century in which both sides weren't flawless) instead of peace and compromise. They never really try to SOLVE the problem but they rather USE the problem for their own good.
