I have a lot of respect for Tara. She never played into the "quirky Internet personality", the "lol I'm a gamer look at my Zelda poster", or the "cute g4mer g1rl" attitudes that many youtubers (both male and female) use. She always seemed like a real person with a real interest and real opinions on games. I always held her opinions and views on a much higher level than most other game journalists and she was my favorite person on Rev3. I hope to see her in future projects!

I can't help but wishfully envision a parallel universe where people aren't needlessly shitty to one another on the internet. A parallel universe where Adam wasn't inundated by shitheads and never left the industry. In that universe, maybe Rev3 would still be around. Or maybe I'm naive to assume this would have changed the fate of the channel at all, but as I said... It's wishful. Good luck on your journeys, guys. JOn DHo I think the word in my comment that should be stressed is "inundated." Adam was no simpleton, he knew how the internet worked. But it was the sheer volume of awfulness, along with his wife being targeted, that forced him out. And I won't blame him for that. I can't even imagine the kind of bullshit prominent personalities on the web have to put up with.

They should of done a shot at the end where it's just a zoom out of the office. And Tara is just sitting at her desk alone in the office. And as the camera pans out she starts to pack her things and gets up from her desk. And before she leaves the door she turns around and just gives a faint wave to the office and all the great memories she had. Then the camera just sits there for about 20 seconds of just sitting there looking at the once filled office. Then the lights turn off and the camera does a slow transition into darkness but you can still hear the faint sound of the air conditioner humming. Then that too turns off. Would have been pretty sweet

I will definitely miss you Tara. Like many Sessler drew me into the channel but I quickly learned that Tara was even greater star then Adam. She brought professionalism, hard work, and charisma to anything she worked on. I know Adam's reviews got a lot of attention but for me, what I truly looked forward to a hand made Tara review. Honestly I don't watch reviews because I am interested in the game. More so its like a mental feat of cataloging a game into all these points. Its something I do privately and I love watching others do it publicly. And for me Tara crafted some of the most enjoyable reviews for me. The perfect juggling of objective and subjective perspective and bundling it in such a perfect way. I am sorry that reviews became unpleasant with the increasing toxicity of the channel comments but I loved and appreciate every review you ever did on this channel. Best of luck to you and hope to see you soon in greater and more awesome opportunities.

So...about Adam: personally (and I know I can't be alone on this), I always thought this channel stood on its own merits long before Adam was a part of it. Unfortunately, a good portion of your viewers constantly try to make it all about him even after he was gone, openly disregarding the rest of you and your contributions. I subbed to this channel early on because of Tara, Max, Anthony, and later Nick. Adam was a nice bonus for a while, but he wasn't the main reason I watched this channel for so long. All in all, I don't think you guys at Rev3 give yourselves enough credit.

Not to down anyone else in Rev3 but Adam was the reason I subbed and without Adam I just lost all interest. What happened in his situation was a damn shame but I think Rev3 and his fans deserved better than a silent disappearance. He shouldve kept on keeping on and if not at the very LEAST given us a proper goodbye like this vid. Thank you for all your hard work, I enjoyed Rev 3 and commend you on a job well done!
@robinhooduk825510 жыл бұрын
to be honest, rev3games grew so fast with sessler onboard that when he left, there was a gaping hole that cannot be filled. its a good lesson in how not to grow a channel and following. i think if sessler was never at rev3 then they would have grown in a more settled measure, slowly growing and finding a voice for themselves.

God damn it! Are you kidding me? Where are you Adam? Where are you Great Pumpkin? This actually makes me feel depressed. There is a total lack of good, honest, smart people in the realm of game journalism, and Adam, Tara and co. were some of the few in that league. I hope Scoville isn't next. Someone with a large bankroll, do something about this!

I discovered Rev3Games early last year back when Adam Sessler was still around and I have to admit, even after he left, this channel has been my favourite on KZbin by a wide margin. There are so few legitimately good and journalistic gaming KZbin channels and Rev3Games represents a shining example of how to put journalistic principles to use when covering video games. It's deeply saddens me to see this channel go but I will continue to support the people who made it so special in any way I can. I hope your reading this Tara, because I want to thank you for all the hours of entertainment, insight and thought provoking discussion you and this channel have provided. I had a seriously hard time keeping it together during that slideshow and I shed many tears when game over showed up at the end. Thank you so much for everything.

I'm so sorry, but I'm done. I subbed to Rev3 because of Adam, but since he left, I was having doubts. But when I saw that Nick and Tara were staying, I had hope. I sticked with it, and felt rewarded in the end. They were fitting replacements. But now that they are BOTH gone, I have no reason to be subbed anymore. I have no connection and no liking of ANY of the other newbies, and now that Rev3 is being headed by very inexperienced journalists, I can tell it won't do well. Also, Discovery is leaving them, so I don't even know if they're going to exist anymore. So I guess this is goodbye Rev3Games, it was a great ride.

Did you even bother to watch before commenting? Rev3 is shutting down. So saying "oh they're gone I'm unsubbing" is pointless because there isn't anything to be subbed to anymore. Jesus, it's like everyone here just immediately leaps to the comments to say something without bothering to actually watch or listen to the videos.

Serious question - what other good youtube channels are out there in this vein of gaming journalism? I liked Rev3 because they were genuine and didn't feel like they were way up their own asses about anything. They were fun and had good opinions... are there any other channels I could watch that fill this niche? Thanks in advance.

I used to "hate" Angry Joe thinking he was just another "character" in the "angry reviewer" fad. After checking his videos out though, I 100% love the guy, he clearly loves and cares about videogames and I'm so happy when he gives tough love to games, he is the most honest reviewer you can get. GiantBomb is always super fun too and I think gamespot has gotten better too.
@TheGamingDandy10 жыл бұрын
Tara and Nick were the only 2 people I ever saw in videos anyway, so the channel has pretty much been dead for awhile. I think it's a bad idea that Discovery shut down the channel though. If they had just dedicated more resources to putting out more content that people wanted to see, and hired a few more fresh faces then this channel would still been a success, even when Sessler left. I mean come on, video game channels pretty much rule KZbin right now. Seems like a silly decision to me.
@TheGamingDandy10 жыл бұрын
Then again, maybe Sessler left because Discovery was dicking them around so much and he wanted more autonomy. There was a time when there was like 7 new shows coming out, and then they made a few episodes of those shows and then dropped them. Like the Internet wormhole, or whatever that was called.

***** Which is exactly why I think the channel (and it's active members/employees) has lost it's honesty and innocence essentially several years ago. I wasn't able to take them seriously for a very long time now. Dodgy reviews, strange opinions, generally being very apologetic about when a developer fails. I'm also not sure what Adam's reputation really was based upon when he started to pop up in this show, because in earlier days he wasn't quite the honest type when it came to games. It's difficult to really prove, so do not take my word for it, but I'm fairly sure he's had his days of being way more positive about a game than he should (or even wanted) to be, because of clicks, views and ad revenues to a channel and website. I can't believe for a second they were somehow as independent as they seem to claim. I know how opinions tend to be very subjective, but they rarely were critical about specific things. Things seemingly ignored.

i felt bad, unti i saw that tweet claiming gamergate is about a war on women. Lying about your fans and acusing them of things that are jsut flat out UNTRUE is what got you people in this possition. Are your heads really that far up your asses that you can't see that when your professionalism is questioned, calling your accusers misogynists woman haters that are all straight white men on a crusade to hate women and push them out of the industry rather then just addressing the actual issues and pretending it's something it clearly isn't might make people not want to support you? I've been a big fan of you folks, but just seeing you jump on the hate wagon and LYING about what's really happening in the gamergate movement is just disgusting. Good riddance.
@Envy98700110 жыл бұрын
Misnomer W Gamergate is a consumer revolt, the entire hashtag can't be attributed by the actions of some people, when the core principles are the most pushed topic, which are the corruption in games journalism. Why didn't Tara do any research (if she did make a tweet against Gamergate) about Zoe Quinn sabotaging the "Fine Young Capitalist", and then thank gamergate for donating over $25 000 dollars to assist them in their endeavor? Why does no one talk about the hate and harassment David Pakman is getting for being neutral and providing a floor for everyone to speak equally, which by the way the harassment is from anti-GG. There are so many things wrong going on on the anti side that holds far more power than anyone pro-GG. Rev3 had no part in these controversies, and to be honest i'm not that sad to see them go, but if I had a hand in the matter I would still stick up for them.
@stratisfire10 жыл бұрын
Dewster Hobnobbington I'm sorry that i don't feel that people who basically asked to lose their jobs don't deserve any sympathy. I honestly couldn't care less what happens to her after that tweet, and i feel my fellow viewers deserve to know what she said imediately after making this "hearfelt" video to her "misogynist woman hating gamer scum" fans that are supposedly "raging a war on women" rather then asking for journalistic integrity.
@Draftgon10 жыл бұрын
Misnomer W Well what should people do? A new hashtag wont stop trolls to follow. But I can see that twitter is probably the worst place to discuss something like gamergate, yet (both sides) are stupid enough to engage most of the debate there.
@SladeX200010 жыл бұрын
Dewster Hobnobbington It's their own fault, as Stratifire pointed out. If you think you can insult your audience and keep your job(and you're not a comedian), you're an idiot. Sessler especially after approving of a black man that started #notyourshield being fired after these "journalists"(who if you haven't noticed are a VAST majority white, while saying their for diversity and inclusiveness) said they were speaking for women and minorities. Simply put, fuck them. PS: and let's not forget Sessler's little tirade about "misogyny" after he misinterpreted the "Bros before Hoes" Trophy in God of War(an achievement created and named by a women btw).

I rarely did art contest, and the few i did, i never got anywhere with. It just discouraged me. Now i have the guts to actually give it my all, im the style im comfortable with (with influence from jim lee, to streetfighter, to saints row... LOL).
