In this video, I play two games against the same International Master in a highly critical and crazy variation of the Stafford Gambit (inspired by @JonathanSchrantz). The games were played in the 2020 lichess.org Winter Marathon tournament, part of my 10-hour stream. After the first game, I reveal some of my extensive preparation in ChessBase and show how I use both the Stockfish 12 and Leela Chess engines to analyze the complex and entertaining positions. @@philipferreira4701 Sometimes you need to further set up an attack, which gives your opponent time to evade it. Immediately going for the discovered check isn't always the strongest move.

@@LFSPharaoh 700 rated players usually don't know traps past 5 or so move traps like scholars mate. Knowing how to open effectively outside of fundamental principles isn't important until somewhere around 1300-1600. Of course the earlier you learn traps the easier it is to cheese rating, but you'll be perfectly fine playing regular chess and avoiding simple stuff like Fried Liver and Scholars

At 11:00 when you played Be6, for some reason I was looking at Rh1 to sac, white takes with g rook, pawn g2 discovered check with queen, Qd2, then pawn takes rook on h1 to trade and be up a queen.

problem is when black plays g2 your queen is attacked by the now white rook on h1. If you take the rook before playing g2, king escapes to d2 and your attack has vanished.

I really like pawn structures: a grandmaster guide for the general idea of your important plans and breaks. If you know a handful of structures well it'll cover most variation in most openings.

@@ADavidJohnson every single bullet game I’ve watched is solely based on opening prep and then someone blundering because they didn’t prepare far enough and end up in a position that takes more than 30 seconds to understand properly. Imo it’s the complete opposite of what you said. Opening prep matters more in bullet than in any other gamemode

too damaging to white position. knight takes e3, pawn takes back and there is no double attack so the bishop on c5 can escape. stockfish gives position +0.9

Try looking for Ytb channels that post puzzles, such as Suren. These will help you noticing mating patterns, seeing tactical discoveries and several other stuff way more easily in several different positions.
