I consumed a lot of @GVS content, improved my effort and BOOM, started my noobie phase transition. Started around 25% body fat (inbody770) I am doing a cut/maingain, with boostcamp Rampage program - I see fantastic results and the mirror looks fantastic at 3 months in. The thing I had misinterpreted, or I had not understood correctly is the following: I just need to do the program with best effort, and that is it. For next week, I do not have to "work harder" to lift more weights. I have to work similarly hard, and the mucle growth is what allows me to add weight. Somehow I had a mindset that I would need to constantly up the effort to lift more. No, i just need to do the same, eat well, sleep well, stay healthy, rinse and repeat. The effort (for noobie) stays the same from week to week, and the weights increase.

I completely agree! When I was younger, playing all types of sports, mainly ice hockey throughout my youth and rugby in high school, I loved to run! People thought I was nuts when I would go out and run because it was fun. In my mid-40s, I haven't done cardio other than walking in about 10-15 years, due to some injuries. When I was lifting in my 20s, like you said feeling burned, it never happened much, unless I was going above 20 reps. I would get the wobbly legs and feel like I've just received new limbs and almost falling over sometimes, but never the burn. Fast forward to now and I can barely get 15 reps done and my legs are burning like mad! I knew it was because of cardio, but just never put enough care into it like I did when I was younger thinking if I just keep my reps a bit on the higher count I could forgo the extra time needed for cardio. Once I started doing more than just walking though as I was able to start jogging again without pain in my left ankle, the burning started to subside and actual muscle fatigue was hitting again. The reason I would rather go out and jog is, I spend too much time inside and still find it enjoyable.

Honestly, start by tracking your daily steps and getting that to 6k per day... I was doing LISS twice per week for 30-45 minutes at a time a few months ago and it definitely made a difference but when I started tracking my steps like a month ago that is when things got a little crazy with my work capacity, don't overthink it just avoid being a couch potato and actually track your heart rate while doing cardio if you can to make sure it is actually cardio (50%-70% MHR for LISS but you want to be at least around 55% for aerobic endurance gains because walking at 90 beats per minute is just slacking off/waste of a treadmill and then 70%-95% of MHR for high intensity portions of HIIT)... LISS and HIIT will get you to the same place assuming you apply the same principles of volume, intensity, and frequency you apply to lifting to cardio (so like 50 minutes at 50%, 30 minutes at 55%-65%, and 10 minutes at 80% provide roughly the same vein gains)

Training ultra runner here and this year I have focused more on building muscle & getting stronger. Cardio has definitely made my work capacity insane. so Balancing heavy weight or more reps and speed runs or long runs recovery is important. Running before or after lifting days or on the same day seems to speed recovery from heaving lifting. Thanks for great laughs and reminder that cardio is a great option for gains.

Then give guide to cardio just like you have for muscle building. I need to get idea to include them in workout.

This is really interesting, I do single leg cycling for recovery from an injury so I try to give my left leg a bit more work by hitting some pre and post training unilateral cycling. Nice to know I'm on the right track.

I do cardio quite regularly. At one point I was alternating between 3 and 6 mile runs, but then started doing 1 mile runs solely for a specific reason. Now I run a mile before leg day, and despite what some people say, I am better warmed up and do much better squats and other movements than simply relying on dynamic stretching. NOW as a caveat, I don't run a mile and then start doing squats 5 minutes later. It takes me about 10 minutes to drive to the gym and another 5-10 minutes to find an open rack and start doing dynamic stretches and warm-up sets. On average, by the time I end my run to my first working set, it's probably 20-30 minutes. I don't run before upper day only because those days are long and I don't have the time. On my rest days I usually do 2-3 mile runs with the ocassional 6.

That intro was fun. At first you had me thinking you were going to talk about cheat reps, but then somewhere after the second half I realized you were hinting at cardio.

Amazing how you compare cardio’s benefits with steroids in the beginning Because cardio is healthy and steroids are harmful. Complete opposites in terms of toxicity but very similiar in terms of health benefits💪🏽

I loved this video. I already suspected this, I recover faster when I use bike for commuting, even on leg day. The intro was top notch, I loved it.

When doing hammer curls try holding the weight at the end of the bar( bottom with hand resting on lower plate ). Just this small hand adjustment increases the weight on your biceps and forearms

so how do you fit it to your current program, do I just add 30 mins cardio after weight training?
@epicgamer46817 ай бұрын
How would you add cardio to your program? I remember you said that you should schedule your Caruso around your leg workouts. Can I go hard the day before my leg workout and then after go hard after my leg workout?

Yup. I am always cycling as a European city-dweller, so I have half an hour of cardio MINIMUM, most days more close to 1 hour, on weekends often 2-3h. I don't gas out in training, I see tremendous growth in my legs, so even this "much" cardio does not seem to interfere too badly with training.

Epic video Totally agree with all points, iv been doing cardio since my competitive judo days and it never stops muscle growth and like you said and if anything naturals will grow more when they implement cardio (after the shock period) than if they just do weight lifting. Cardio 3-4 days a week bulking or cutting 👌💪
