Hey, her college application was really crazy! But to kind if encourage you, let me tell you why Kate didn't get into Yale. Her appllication was too diverse. Doing CS, Graphic Design, Sports, Music, Geography, literature etc. sounds super impressive but there's no real theme. Most of the times, Colleges also reject people cuz they simply don't have space for them. Say there's this one guy applying to stanford and he does a lot of debate, but stanfords debate team is already full, then even if he is a strong applicant, there isn't really a space for him unless he is debating at an intl. level. At the of the day, it's immensely based on luck🤞🍀

Hey so just some info about the AP program- It leaves a lot more to the school program on how rigorous the classes are. Because AP scores are graded only on a 3 hour paper, most colleges prioritize the grade you get in the class, which of course, differs from the course design from school to school. Also, in general, most HL subject tests are more rigorous than AP tests, but there are a select few that pair up pretty well.
@fallout85416 жыл бұрын
Wow amazing and stellar achievements but you did too many things that didn’t angle towards your interests. You’re amazingly well rounded and extremely smart which means you can be anything and be great at it. The problem is, elite schools are looking for angular applicants. But you’re going to one of the best schools I presume.

Now I look back at all the pressure, tears, and stress during college applications and that constant and sometimes uncomfortable push you get from people who you know are expecting so much from you. It feels inspring to have someone talk about the same things you have been through and to be able to see the growth they have accomplished throughout the journey. And also, I volunteered for Operation Smile here in Cebu just months ago for my CAS, and I haven't been the same person since. The organization is amazing and it is so heartwarming to see all of those kids glimmer with hope from the opportunity offered to them. Aloha!! I'm going into my senior year in the fall and super stressed about college apps and whether I did enough to get into the University of Texas at Austin, as it is a highly competitive school for business majors. Since applications are due in December, do you have any advice on how to improve my chances this late in the game? Also, congrats on all your success! You're literally so inspiring!
@KatieTracy6 жыл бұрын
Aloha Aneesha!! How exciting! Senior year can be quite busy with college apps and I'm not sure you could do anything huge at this point (though if you are ambitious and incredibly productive, go for it!). I'd say continue with activities you were already engaged in and try building upon them to develop clear interests in them. I see colleges nowadays are more interested in seeing you excel at a few specialized things than be a jack of all trades. Also, someone once said, "It's not about what you sell, but how you sell it!" Colleges like seeing clear interests and what you will bring to their community. Your extracurriculars and the initiative you've taken to explore in them are one aspect of that. I hope that makes sense! I'll also be doing more college videos where I can explain these more thoroughly :) Best of luck - I'm rooting for you!

Do you have to do extracirriculars in order to be considered in Any Ivy League School? Or is it not neccesary?

Hey Katie!! I hope I can be as successful as you in my IB endeavors!!! 🙈 just a quick question. Did you have your parents look over your common app/supplement essays?
