Revealing SECRETS of the EARTHS EQUATOR and other must see sights in QUITO ECUADOR!
In this video we explore some top sights in the Ecuadorian capital city Quito, this is our first time visiting the country of Ecuador and after just one day exploring we have fallen for all of its charm. Quito has a lot to offer travellers and we didn’t even get to all the places we planned on this day because we had so much fun along the way.
We start off by visiting the most visited tourist destination in Ecuador, the famous Mitad Del Mundo or the equator line and monument to mark the middle of the earth. We rally enjoyed exploring and getting involved with some of the dancing and activities going on in the park. We then head over to the teleferico which is a gondola that goes from the city center up the east slope of the Pichincha Volcano to the Cruz Loma viewpoint.
It was so worth the one hour wait to get to the top, we made some new friends in line and got to practice our Spanish along the way and then got to see the sunset from the top which as you can see in the video was absolutely incredible, but then very cold too! Apparently it’s around 4100 metres above sea level at the top so breathing is not easy but the gift shop area is pumped with extra oxygen so for anyone struggling head inside to fill up your lungs!
We would say that both of these sights were well worth the money and effort to go to, and are a must visit for travellers coming to Quito. We hope you enjoyed seeing it through our experience and that it helps you with your own travel plans!

My first Airbnb in Quito was located just south of la plaza de toros. I was absolutely blown away that I could see it clearly from the mirador after riding el teleferico up. I was very impressed with the level of sophistication in the modern architecture and luxury malls that I observed just north and west of La Carolina.

You’re right, the views across Quito are incredible and clear from the mirador. We have been so impressed with the mixture of history and modern life in Quito, the airport hub amazed us as soon as we arrived. More airports need the set up they have.

We’re home now, just 4 months for us but what an amazing continent it is. Quito was one of my favourite places! Thanks for the tips before we went and I’m definitely going to keep up with your adventures. We did Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil but Colombia was definitely my favourite country… the landscape! Have fun you two! 😄

Balancing the egg on the equator was neat. The view point was amazing looking down on the city below - and that altitude would probably get me because I am not used to that. I bet the heat gets pretty intense there. I'd be all about the iced lattes.

I don’t think I’ll ever be comfortable at high altitudes, Craig does better with it but I get headaches and all sorts! Worth it to see cool places though!

I was very impressed with the La mitad del mundo grounds. There is a lot to see and do and the grounds are well designed and kept impeccably clean. I was there in late January 2024. When did you visit?
