If the Christians in the catacombs of ancient Rome worked that way, Constantine would've converted to Mithraism! ^ Best line

A reviewer who makes reference to topics I have to look up to understand and laugh at the second viewing? I think I'm in love.
@cthulhupthagn57719 жыл бұрын
Love this review (going through your catalog). The plot only makes sense if you are a believer. Basically modern end times fans tap into a fear of loss of identity as a nation (originally American but in recent years, EU fears have surfaced) as well as fear on the intrusiveness of modern technology. Then take several old testament books, reinterpret their prophecies to mean stuff in our time, and say filling those lead to Revelations - a publication identical to A Modest Proposal in concept - to predict an end. This gives those unhappy in life a comforting lie that eventually they will be rewarded, and encourages them to do whatever their pastor tells them (such as send money) because it will all ve irrelevant soon.

@22:32 Whatever this man thought he was trying to do, Kevin Smith as Ares he is most certainly NOT. His "evil cackling" sounds like sobbing.

Is it just me, or does the antichrist here remind me of several South Park villains?

I saw this when I was younger and have always thought that heel turn when the two get the mark was them losing their souls. That they change so much afterwards including shooting his own dog, and saying it's irreversible, that what they were implying is that once they put on the helmets their only choices were how they wished to die just that one alternative had their bodies continuing on afterwards but without what made them well...THEM, though it wasn't presented that way to make the victims more likely to accept. hence why they seemed to change and become so evil all of a sudden and why the dog wouldn't stop barking at him. Perhaps I was overthinking it. also the reviews of this and left behind that I been bingeing made me realize that the makers of both seem to think the monitor is the important part of the computer for some reason.

Maybe this movie can finally kill that brain worm that infected my mother when she watched Lawnmower man for 3 days straight and convinced herself that Jeff Fahey was a good actor

These guys really don't understand how computer monitors work, do they?

Maybe one of One Nation Earth wanted to keep the school bus drivers employed, so they had them drive busses full of child-sized mannequins around?

These Rapture movies have trouble convincing me NOT to take the anti-Christ's side, because 7 years of peace and harmony seems like a pretty sweet deal.

It's like the filmmakers realized this was so silly they just gave up on making any sense and made a techno film

Damn...I remember watching this long ago... ...It's definitely worse then I remember. The people who made this have no idea what they're doing filmmaking or story wise.

I have always wondered about why Satan and demons were linked to the upside down cross. I think it might be to convey unworthiness or something.

Peter was crucified upside down.

@VexVirus Yeah I learned that later. I think it's the whole "Unworthy of Christ" angle or something to that effect.

Here's what I don't understand about this kinda thing. If the rapture happens and the only way to survive it is to convert to that religion...why not just do that. I mean I get that people have their beliefs and whatnot but if the literal Christian rapture came to be, I'd have guessed that would be pretty decent proof that they were right.

I'm kinda confused... if Mr. Antichrist is saying he's the Messiah, why is he killing Christians? That's like Xerxes saying he was Athena before he burnt Athens!
@Tareltonlives9 жыл бұрын
+Cybermat47 Maybe it's an antisemitic slur?
@Cybermat479 жыл бұрын
+Tareltonlives well, it is based on a book written by Christians who can't even tolerate Catholics, so I doubt they'd be able to tolerate a different religion.

If he said he was Christ reborn, then maybe. Odds are he is trying to say that Jesus was a false messiah and thus was wrong.
@scitechian6 жыл бұрын
My understanding is that the Antichrist is so charismatic that he will be able to convince the majority of Christians that he is the Second Coming, and somehow engineer things to result in their deaths after converting to his particular brand, thereby dooming as many souls to Hell as possible.
@Victorblud6 жыл бұрын
Okay we're making sense of a movie that clearly gave up trying to make sense on day 1. The logic is that he's removing those who would become the future army of Jesus when the 7 years of strife were over and the final battle commenced. I think.

It's been a long time since I read any apocalypse theology, but if I remember correctly the anti-Christ is supposed to be born in the same area as Jesus was born, so why do they always make him European when he's supposed to be born in Bethlehem? Also, the idea is you only need faith while you have a physical body. Seeing proof that God exists is part of your reward for having faith once you're dead.
@dylanchouinard61414 жыл бұрын
Technically speaking, there isn’t much evidence of a singular anti-Christ in the Bible. It’s just a title given to people who persecuted Christians.

Here's what's always been my answer to the argument posed at 14:53. God does love us, he/she/it truly does, but the problem is, if he answered prayers and helped people even once, then they would ask for more and more. If God continued to help eventually it would just be God leading humanity by the hand which in turn completely defeats the purpose of free will.

god that smug "amateurs built the ark" line is so infuriating. ah yes, christianity's greatest achievement. a FICTIONAL boat. that'll teach him
@michaeliv2842 жыл бұрын
My argument against that would be that dwarves made a boat that can fit into you pocket (norse mythology, the boat was skithblathnir... I think). Disproves her point on amateurs being better than professionals and that the power of God pales in comparison to a Tolkien character

These movies actually make A LOT of logical sense, however they are like marvel movies, you need christian knowledge to understand all the references and cameos. Even the plot devices make a lot of sense if you are up to date with Christian end times dogma. If you just accept this is all fantasy BS and forget the harm these movies to, because they think it's real, then the movies are good ol B movie fun.
