BTW I’ve had luck snipping off loose ends with sewing thread nippers. They’re long, pointed and very sharp, and the narrow tip lets me see what I’m doing up close. Just a suggestion.
@HarryHoudiniModels4 жыл бұрын
Good suggestion... since I made this video Bernard gave me some very sharp and pointy PE cutting scissors, which are much better than my old Xuron cutters.

The yardarms are raised and lowered from ropes and blocks attached at the centre of the yard arms called Jeers. Once the yards are raised they are held up by the slings The lifts you discribed are more for keeping the yard horizontal while lifting and once in place. If you only used the lifts the yard would sag in the centre and warp or snap. Just saying...
@HarryHoudiniModels4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that.. I have rigged the slings.. but never knew the lifts did not go all the way down.

We are still in fire season, which is part of the normal cycle, but good rains over the past month all down the eastern seaboard have put a stop to the explosive situation of New Year. Last night I even had to pull the doona over me, as it was much cooler than the previous month of hot sweaty nights. Slept like a wombat.

Happy Brexit Harry! another great video mate. I've always been reluctant to build ships due to rigging but now I feel confident enough to have a go. I hope you guys are now going to sell us your fantastic beef and wine!

great work on the rigging and the Bounty Harry love your channel my only gripe is there;s not enough content we need more wanks more builds more gooch or just plain more Harry
@HarryHoudiniModels4 жыл бұрын
If only I had more free time. To make a Bounty video took 2 hours of preparation, 3 hours to shoot, 2-3 hours editing with another hour to make graphics and upload. 9 hours work.

Now I know and it only took a scale modeling video to learn what all those nautical (sails and rigging) terms meant.
