I built one back in high school in the late 70s. I was lucky enough to find the same vintage kit. Fortunately, I still have the original kit minus some small parts after all these years.

Wow, that is cool! Most models from my youth ended up in the bin over time. Thankfully, all my adult builds (starting in the 1990s) reside in display cabinets. It's a good reminder to see how my skills have progressed over time. It's always fun to revisit a kit I built as a kid and try to do justice to it in a way I couldn't back then. Cheers!

I built one of these kits a few years back. It was a fun, and easy kit. I threw that pilot figure away.

Right on, Paul! I'm glad your experience with it was a good one. Cheers!

Good morning 🌞, from gloomy Northwest Ohio………… It’s SATURDAY, sitting at the kitchen table with my coffee…. I’ve really enjoyed these vintage kit reviews… Brings back a LOT of memories… Started building Models in 1970, and SATURDAYS my Friends and I went to the HOBBY CENTER ( local chain ) And bought our MODELS… The early release REVELL 1/32 scale kits did have a lot of details, the second generation kits from the early / mid 1970 were a little less… But REVELL did release quite a few choices… I had a good friend who built pretty much all of them… We ate up the REVELL kits Did some GROUP BUILDS with them… This kit is SCREAMING for Details… This is the kind of kit you would find in FINE SCALE MODELER And a professional model builder went crazy with aftermarket products to dress it up… Another enjoyable review, I would build this kit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gloomy here in Southern Illinois, too. Looks like Max sent all of us his hurricane weather. These older Revell kits are a good starting point. Monogram really raised the bar with the 1/48 bombers in the '70s.

Good gloomy morning Chris! I love hearing the stories! The vintage kits also bring me back to when I had fun building models. This is a kit that I would have completed in an afternoon. I would have applied the decals directly on the kit plastic - who had time or money for paint? Then it would have been flown around my room until a younger brother "accidentally" broke off a wing. My completed kits didn't last long with three younger brothers! I love the modern kits, but the vintage ones take me back in time. Cheers!

@@scale_model_apprentice Right on! Monogram was a great company that produced some world-class kits. Speaking of big monogram kits, I'll be reviewing their 1:48 PBY soon on this channel. Cheers!

Good morning from Az!! Thanks Jon! Oh, yes I remember the old Revell 1/32 kits. I have built the Corsair and the Me-262-a. Great kits for the day. Nice big kit, low part count and popular subjects. Yea, the kits had some "issue's" Looking forward to the Spirit of St. Louie video. The first video, the kits looks like it will be a fine finish by a fine modeler. Jon, ya make it look easy! And yea, the kit Jon has, is bent. Not so bad but enough that it would cause some beginners mental distress! Thanks Jon. Great videos with great info!! Take care to all and ................................... MODEL ON!! Jeff

I appreciate the feedback and the review kit, Jeff! Somehow, I missed the 1/32 scale kits as a kid. I built lots of 1/72 jet kits and WWII bombers. I also built some 1/48 WWII fighters. It's really cool to see how the 1/32 scale vintage kits compare to the ones I built back in the day. Cheers!

The three Revell 1/32 scale kits that were tooled in Japan (Tony, Jack, and George) are collectable as apparently those molds were lost at sea! I built the Corsair, the Stuka, and the Mosquito back in the 1970's. I had the Typhoon and the afore mentioned Tony and Jack...I sold those in the 1980's....

Very cool! Thanks for the Revell kit history, Alan!

When you’re building these larger scales, do you find it harder to fix, or rather hide, those obvious fit issues compared to 1/48? I have built only 2 1/32 aircraft (F4u Corsair, and a zero)Both revell both from the 70’s and both had issues with fit…especially fuselage to wing. No matter what I did it always stood out to me and drove me nuts though most didn’t even notice. Thanks Jon! Another great call back to the 70’s!

Agreed. I tend to build 72nd scale with some 48th. I can see the difference in hiding flaws easier in the smaller scale.

That's a great question! I usually try to achieve filler-free seams on the upper surfaces of a kit. I will glue the upper wings to the fuselage first, dry fitting until I get a good fit. Same goes for the tail surfaces and fuselage seam. I then deal with any resulting seams on the underside of the aircraft. They may not turn out perfectly, but at least this way they don't drive me crazy on the shelf. Cheers!

Another great review,Jon. That's definitely a kit that looks good when finally completed, but is disappointing piece by piece.. Have a great weekend!

Hey Jon, I've always wanted to build a 1/32 kit, but they've always been above my price range even back when this came out. The new kits are " price heavy " but great detail, the vintage kit just didn't have the appeal or added value to scaling up as the moulding technique were in the embryonic phase. However the unique aspect of these vintage kits were moving parts, they don't seem do make them that way anymore. I was surprised at the radar antenna detail a bit delicate , with my big paws they'd have to go on last. Sprue Brothers is having a 20% sale this weekend on Eduard . They have a 1/32 Me 109, but I'm concerned about the quality at even their regular price. Based on your reviews I've been having great luck on eBay, like the Spirit of St. Louis and He 111. Ill get ya some photos One if these days :-) Amusing Hobby has some advanced Me 262 experimental kits - three variants The Me 262 HG 'll I believe . They are quite unique and reasonably priced with some unique molding you might find interesting. As always great video I learn something on every one, See ya next Saturday, Cheers Bob.

Hi Bob, thanks for the tip on the Amusing Hobby kits. I'll have to check them out. Eduard can be hit or miss with ease of construction so I research them before I purchase. I don't have any experience with their 1/32 Bf 109 so I would need to research it. Sometimes Eduard re-boxes other manufacturers kits. If It is the Hasegawa 1/32 Bf109 with Eduard details, it will be a gem. Cheers!

When this kit first appeared, I thought this was one of Revell's more half-hearted efforts, compared to some of their other 1/32 releases. Accuracy of detail is an almost non-relevant term here. I was disappointed in '71, and the Hasegawa Me-262B kit of that era is leaps & bounds better, by comparison. Of course, neither kit can compare to the decades later Trumpeter & Revell offerings. So as not to put off an enthusiastic, new modeller, I would rather start him/her on the vintage Hasegawa kit. In conclusion, I believe this 1971 Revell kit of the Me-262B is best left to the realm of kit collectors, and not kit builders.🫤

You bring up some good points, Joseph. I wouldn't necessarily seek this one out for reasons other than nostalgia or low cost. However, this one is in the stash so I may end up building this one with a nephew. It should be a fun time. Cheers!
