Mmm... that super tight, flat sound reminiscent of the 70's... I love it.

Would be cool in future videos to hear what the snares tuning sounds like before all the layers of muffling!

May be a challenge because I believe it’s a double kick setup, but how about “Jerry Was a Race Car Driver” by Primus?

I've heard the song a million times and I feel like you're asking for a drum cover because the playing is great. I've never once thought about how great the drum drum production was on that track. Tommy The Cat--oozes drum character.

@@lordhammerwind You’re partially right. The drum sound on Seas of Cheese is interesting in itself, but for interests sake maybe the drum sound on Pork Soda. I read in Primus’ book that for that album they recorded in giant shipping bins so it would be be cool to see that recreated without said bins.

Great sound! Thanks for this. How important is the room in this setup? My room sounds awful but perhaps close mic-ing like this could alleviate that?

Seems like a lot of work to get a pretty standard drum sound. 😬 🤷🏻♂️ Great job on the recording, but the processing seems a bit overkill.

Love the video, but pretty sure the 30ms gate delay did not make the groove or song. No one is going to hear that.
@NZsaltz5 ай бұрын
That's not the point... most of the individual decisions or plugins he mentions didn't "make" the groove, but they all contributed. Anderson .Paak probably didn't do it, but to get a more similar sound on this kit with their setup, it probably helped. It's a cool trick to have up your sleeve, anyways and this is meant to be an educational series, right?

They usually play a "sound alike" for the other instruments in these videos, I assume so that the videos don't get picked up by the copyright bots
