I’m not sure if this catches it, but at one point the deputy was asking Fire Alarm for a rundown of companies on each alarm and she couldn’t answer him. It took at least 15 minutes for her to come up with who responded. Frightening.

You can’t be serious and have any experience. She had an incredible amount of information being thrown at her and did an incredible job handling a 3 alarm fire from multiple towns and handling other calls. Not a lot of people that could handle this.

@ David Canavan Yes the dispatcher did a fantastic job. It’s very easy for a key board warrior to critique someone that never did the job nor could they ever do it.

I think part of the problem is that it is not an integrated dispatch. They are requesting "Massport engine" and "Chelsea engine" rather than specific units, and so don't necessarily know the designation for the apparatus actually responding. Yeah, accountability en route would be nice, but accountability on scene is what really matters.

As a former dispatcher in the city adjacent to this, I can assure you there’s zero chance this dispatch center did not know what mutual aid apparatus were being sent by each city. One of three scenarios happened. She called on metro herself to each city, one of her colleagues in the dispatch center used metro to call for mutual aid ( most likely) or she could have asked metro to get her mutual aid. In any of those scenarios, they would have been told what apparatus was responding.
