Lisa, thank you so much for these videos. I am a newbie who is looking to launch my business later this month and was looking for more well rounded information on Reverse Mortgages as I noticed that most Notaries seem to be scared of them. I was able to find some great information that deepened my understanding, and then I stumbled upon your video which truly has helped to further solidify my understanding. I also appreciate your explanation as to the fees for taking the Reverse Mortgage application vs the fees for the actual closing. It is imperative that as new Loan Signing Agents that we seek to have a fuller picture and not get caught up in negativity. Between my training with Loan Signing Systems, and additional reading, and your videos, I look forward to undertaking Reverse Mortgages. I further look forward to watching your other videos. It’s truly helpful to learn and get the perspective of a Signing Service.

Hi Grace! Im glad you like the training. To be a HECM counselor is a difficult process. I believe you have to work with a HUD agency and then they sponsor you to take the test. It is a difficult test, and most of the time you have to take a class to prepare you.

That is super helpful! I have done reverse mortgages before but I have not come across the trustee signature. When it request trustee verbiage with signature does that mean the signer is signing his name and trustee after each signature?

Not necessarily! Every lender is different so when you see trustee verbiage on the signature line, make sure to ask the contracting company how the borrower should be signing!

In my studying of documents I found info saying the HUD1 is only used for reverse mortgages But in my training course it says the HUD1 is still used on not only reverse mortgages but also HELOCS and refi's. Which is the correct answer??? I didn't plan to do reverse mortgages because many LSAs say they take too long and aren't worth it. I've decided I am going to do them. If a reverse mortgage helps seniors be able to live better and not struggle financially, then WE SHOULD ANSWER THE CALL TO HELP THEM... But again, when is the HUD1 still used because I've gotten conflicting info on this.
@coast2coast-notaryuniversity3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! So HUD1 is not used for HELOC'S or REFI's anymore. It has been replaced by the CLOSING DISCLOSURE. It is still used in Reverse Mortgages though. As for you taking reverse mortgages.. WOW! I love your attitude. That is how we feel too... they may take longer, but you really are performing a valuable service. Whenever I do them, I think of my grandparents who have a reverse mortgage and how fortunate a program like this is for her, they get to stay in their family home because of it. I am proud of you! If you need anything, feel free to reach out, my email is virginia@c2csignings.com.

I am confused about when people say that the signature needs to be signed exactly as the signature line shows. My signature is not readable, and I know many people who sign with a circle or another form which is not readable. Do the borrowers have to change their official signature (which is probably on their bank account and they sign their checks this same way) in order to sign any type of loan documents? I am in CA, if it makes any difference. And I love all the content that C2C has been putting out there! Thank you!
@coast2coast-notaryuniversity3 жыл бұрын
So glad you enjoy our videos. Great questions! If the signer's signature is a symbol or unreadable, they need to continue using their symbol, do not have them change their signature. However, if their signature is cursive and you can clearly see each name, they will need to sign the way the signature line dictates. So if my signature line reads Virginia A. Echiribel, that is how my signature needs to read. However, if they signature is a scribble, then I can continue to sign my scribble.

Yeah- Loan mods are cheap too! But at least they are a tiny package- unlike most reverse mortgage applications.
@susankievman6423 жыл бұрын
There is some misinformation in this video. Reverse Mortgages are not just for people who have mortgages to pay off and cant. Some people have NO mortgage and just want extra money to be able to access out of their homes. They want a line of credit to tap into in the future. I have been to hundreds of Reverse Mortgage loan signings and they can be quick, or they can be long depending on the clients. Dont assume that because they are 62 and older that they are slow in the head, or disabled in some way. These are all misconceptions. It takes about an hour in most cases to notarize.
@coast2coast-notaryuniversity3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for much for your feedback. You are absolutely right; there are various reasons why a signer may want a reverse mortgage. I totally agree that we cannot assume a signer will take longer because of their age, as I have had many reverse mortgage closings that sign rather quickly and are very comfortable with the docs. I, in no way, was insinuating that reverse mortgage signers are "slow or disabled," as I do not believe that is true. Many signing agents refuse to take these signings because some do take longer, so the purpose of this video is to explain why that might be so and encourage agents to accept these closings and have the patience required for all loan closings.
@susankievman6423 жыл бұрын
@@coast2coast-notaryuniversity Thank you for that reply. I do agree that patience is required with Reverse Mortgage clients. That is why it is a specialty. You are typically dealing with someone who is retired and no longer in a business mode. And this is the last really big decision that they will be making with their home on the line. So understanding is key to these.
