Reverse stock splits are a nightmare for devalued shareholders it should be illegal for all etfs to function there proportionality off the value of shares. If you invest in a high number of shares then they devalue before a reverse split, all of your money goes right down the drain, after that you can either hold and see what happens or sell with no compensation. It's really a smoke and mirror trick but in all reality they should compensate you for the devaluation of the number of shares before the reverse split because what really comes into question is, what do you really own? This trick does not judge the value of your share but rather the proportion and it should be illegal the whole reason you invest is to make money not keep some fund or company afloat. You should have the right to keep the number of shares that you own, "you know buy low and sell high" the share itself is your only proof of ownership not the value of it but yet that is what they base your share size off of.

Im fairly new to stock I had 3 companies do a reverse split when I held under 20 shares. those being Rite Aid, Groupon, and office depot. when I held these stocks they were all valued at under 5 per share, now their value ranges from 13 to 27 dollars. and because i did not hold the number of stocks needed for the split I just got cashed out. Very discouraging for a new investor.

I don't understand how reverse splits aren't illegal. You buy shares fair and square and then they can just come along and take em? One of my stocks did a reverse split.I went from 2000 shares to 20.And I just really like to know how could this be legal? And I won't make any money off that stock until it reaches ten dollars when I bought it at ten cents a share.

I'm this market environment say CTRM where you have been acquiring new vessels left and right (a positive thing) and the future looks good but you split 10-1... wouldn't this be a good thing to reduce the float?

I had shares at $20 in SCO that i would sell at $23 or $24 and then wait until they go to $20 or $19 to buy and do it all again. Suddenly one day i see that my shares are worth $274 and i havent been able to sell them anymore otherwise i would lose like $2000. That was 2 years ago, and still waiting to see if they get to $274 (the max in 5 years was $243) to sell otherwise my money has been locked. Its very frustrating...

You left out the dilution part, where if they keep RSing and you don’t average down you eventually don’t have enough shares for the split and you get forced out your position losing everything.

How about the fact that the stock price will have to rise much much much more substantially for you to make the same amount with more shares.. Ghsi just did a reverse split I had 530 shares at .36, now I have 88 shares at 2.34. Say I still had my 530 shares. What have I made at $5? $2,650. What about my 88 shares at $5? Only $440. The stock isn't rising at a higher rate either. It's exactly the same or worse. And this is completely legal? It should be fucking illegal because when they reverse split again I won't have but what, 20 shares maybe? That will take even longer and longer. You mine as well sell your shares and go into another stock at that point because it just won't do anything for you unless you lower your average by selling then buying again low, or buy low and just keep pumping money into it

Can anyone further explain the after effects of a reverse split. Meaning my stock was $8 per and is now $60. And the current stock price is now $7. Does that mean now that the stock must raise above $60 in order for me to turn a profit? Will a reverse split reverse itself if the company ends up improving?

If you have ACB stock you have to risk it to get the biscuit. Assess your yield to loss before buying more shares. With people leaving the company. They are leaving with buy out as well as your cash. For me ACB has to show me more than smoke & mirrors. .....

i got 250k shares of a company that is trading at 0.01$. in switzerland we delist stuff under 0.01$. they want make a 750:1 split. would put the share price to 7.50$ but i think they only do that because price iwll go down much more.
