Reverses Banded Hack Squat Vs Regular Hack for Hypertrophy. Strength vs Resistance Profile/curve
The second experiment we have done on N1 comparing these two exercises involves looking at the actual strength curve/profile for the hack squat, versus the actual resistance curve/profile Kassem uses for his hack squat.
We construct a strength profile constructed from 5 positional isometrics, and compare it to the resistance profile of Kassem's 4 rep top set with reverse bands.
The results will surprise may of you that think reverse banding makes the lengthened position easier or takes away from the load in the lengthened position.

Is the internal moment arm for the quads greatest near the lengthened position? Because I heard you say the resistance profile matches almost well to the strength curve on the bottom position of the hack

What band resistance do u recommend? Slack at stop? Thickest band possible?

Prime fitness should make a leg extension where you can put the torso pad all the way back like a lying leg curl, that way you could work the rec fem at long muscle lengths with good stabality. What do you think of this?

Unfortunately my gym has a cringe hack squat, the Precor one that has no shoulder pads, almost like a downward incline leg press.

I called these the "hip squat machine". so stupid. I belong to two gyms and they both have these hip ones that arent shoulder loaded. I cant get stable on it - ive tried everything. but once I get to the heavier weight I keep sliding up on the pad. drives me crazy the equipment that these corporations think are good for their gyms. they really have no idea what theyre doing.

@@ronaldmcdonald3528 Agree, as the load gets heavier it becomes very easy to slip off the pad at the bottom. Is it because the Precor one is cheaper maybe? For a while my gym had no hack squat at all and I put in a request in the equipment request box they put out. Yeah they got the Great Value "hack squat machine" I guess lol. Better than nothing I suppose. I try to do them with Oly shoes, feet lower on the platform to emphasize quads. Might not bother with them at all but I throw them in for the novelty.

To clarify: reverse banded means banded from the bottom? Or from the top portion? I guess banded from the bottom because Kassem said the tension at the bottom is similar without band so we wanna make the top portion harder as we lose tension?

it's from the top. The added weight is was makes the bottom position relatively the same load.

but don't we want more tension at the top portion of the hack squat. If banded makes the bottom similar (but with more loading)what's the point of using it

@@Mohamed-dz1sn I think, as you go down it gets easier because of the band, as you rise up, the band tension reduces and the true weight returns to the top portion of the lift making it “harder” in theory where it usually would be “easier”
