If had a 2013 AWD Acura TL for the past 5 years. Absolutely the greatest car I’ve ever owned. The all wheel drive in the snow is amazing. Nothing ever goes wrong with the car, and it’s really cheap to maintain. I am really I happy customer.

surprisingly, as a TL owner, I totally disagree each and every point you guys made. it handles great in snow. fuel economy is great, at low 20s. the backseat has tons of space. but the trunk space is very limited.

@alt98745 жыл бұрын
I usually like Dave's reviews, but in this one I disagree with a lot of the points the guys made. I have a 2012 SH-AWD with the 3.7, and with true snow tires mounted it's excellent in the snow. It pulls like a train, handles very predictably and hooks-up very well on icy/snowy roads here in Canada. No spinning and slipping when you leave a stop light, it puts the power to the wheels with grip and also mitigates tire spin so you can easily accelerate away. The engine is very powerful, and for a full size car it's quick. As far as the dash buttons, yes there are quite a few, but once you drive the car for a week you get accustomed to the ones you use most and it's really a non-issue. Overall this is the best car I've ever owned personally, and I would recommend it without reservation.

This car is awesome in every respect! They fail as reviewers. The head cushions actually lean forward to support you during normal driving and will prevent whiplash by leaning forward more just before a rearend collision. As a TL owner, I wonder if these guys even paid any attention to this car. They said so many things I had to disagree with. It's great for Winter. I always feel very safe driving it when the roads are bad and the SH-AWD handles well even when I purposefully make it loose traction. The trunk space is not spacious, it's rather small due to the AWD system. Fuel economy does suck though.

Then you knocked it for MPG, and EVERY other competitor you mentioned gets the SAME MPG w/in 1 or 2mpg from it's 3.6 or 3.7 engine. Knock them too? and WOW....not a good winter car? My wife drives a 2012 Advanced FWD which I drive on holiday trips. I returned 29mpg at 85-90 on our last outing. Great car, maybe a little firm for some but handles with excellent manners on the open road. If anyone has converted a FWD to SHAWD please let me know. I have a 2010 MDX that convinced me it's worth a few mpg's. Safer for my wife in ice and snow as well as torque steer elimination. I found a rear diff for it(MDX) costing $200.00 with 29,000 miles. Used also in the TL SHAWD. Very Cool. MDX has 264,000 miles, love it.

As an owner of Acura automobiles, I can assure you that within a few days all the perceived "clutter" on the dash and steering wheel, falls into place and operating everything becomes 2nd nature. Takes a little getting used to if you're coming from a different make of car but I promise you with just a little time everything seems to make sense. I actually love the look and function of the interior and dash.

Ok guys I have the 2012 version of this car in Portland Oregon and this review has thrown me completely off. You gave it a negative on winter and wet driving and that's what sold me on this car. On a wet day I have to go extremely hard to break the tires out of control. Its the first car to ever grow on me even more after owning it for awhile. "it (Acura TL) has that import feel as opposed to that german luxury feel." If anything this acura tl is made in THE USA and i believe that german cars also have an import feel? Also whats wrong with having more buttons? When you pay for a luxury car you should expect that it will have a lot of options and thus should have more buttons which btw the acura tl's interior console buttons are nicely laid out and legible.

Come out to VIR with one of these, by the way, if you really want to see what SH-AWD can do. This huge car's exit out of Oak Tree will be a real surprise to you. Listening to your comments, in the video, I am surprised by quite a few of them. I am astonished that you can criticize the fuel economy or the handling in any way, considering the car's market segment. My B odo is lifetime at 23 mpg, and it's not uncommon for me to get around 30 on a trip. The design *is* about end of life, though

everyone says the dash is "busy"... with too many buttons.. nonsense. Once you drive the car for a few days.. you figure out all the buttons and they all work. much better than a touch screen that tries to cram a lot of buttons/controls into an LCD that gets all dirty and scuffed up over time. I was recently in a brand new G37 and it's dash looked plain and boring... everyone likes something differnt but I think the Acura interiors are just phenomenal. very high tech and classy.

I think it was come down to the type of driving dynamic you prefer. The tl has a more sophisticated gearbox, the shifts are buttery smooth, plus Awd if you get the SH-AWD edition. The infinity has blistering acceleration in comparison, and is much louder. Personally, I love the speed of the G, not to mention the sound. Also, the Tl has VERY light steering, a little too light for my preference. The G has a sportier feel, please drive both b/c its just gonna be based on your preference.

It's unfortunate that you got your hands on this car after its day was done. The appearance redesign was a cop out. Unfortunately, the 2009 model year introduction came right after the economic crash, and the people in general really didn't "get it" as far as the looks go. In December 2009 I bought a 2010 model year SH-AWD 6-6. 66,000 trouble free miles so far, and still going strong. ZERO money spent except regular maint. That's probably Acura's strong point.

For some reason, some automatics have better fuel economy than manuals. I think the Acura TL with the 6-speed automatic with SH-AWD, has the EPA rating of 18 city/26 highway. I'll look at Acura's site on that. The biggest one is the Subaru BRZ/ Scion FRS -- their automatic is more fuel efficient than the manual. Any rationale?
@Jedi_Order8111 жыл бұрын
When you were doing the test drive, did the TL SH-AWC have Summer only tires on? That could explain why the all wheel drive system didn't perform well.

But yes interior has a ton of buttons and is very busy, but driving my mother's a lot of times, u tend to just start using the voice active system. @Dave: Your comments on trunk space is totally inaccurate. 2009-13 Acura TL only gives an illusion of great trunk space. Try fitting 2 standard check-in luggage on its back and then review. The V-shape of the trunk's interior is the problem. There is nothing new on this review which is any different from the other TL reviews. Especially on your comments on the tech package. Pls try navigating with acura's map and check if you reach correct destination. Did you try their voice based commands?
