Texas Shaz I agree this is a great civic! I just bought the civic si 17 and The quality is so good! Especially for the price! I owned three different civic Si s before I bought my 17! Gabriel Fuoco The new Si was more quite on the inside and knowing it's a Honda, this car will outlast the GTI by about 100k miles. The only downside that I feel that may be a deal breaker is that the Si does not have HID headlamps like the GTI. Other than that... I felt more connected with the Si than the GTI.

Great review, as always, especially your reaction flooring the real fast cars. Lol The Si is an awesome car, especially fir the price. I like the sedan,but prefer an automatic, but would consider the 6 Speed manual for the Si Sedan or Fit Sport HFP. I will most likely get a Civic Sport Hatchback CVT, but like many say, it is would be great if the Si equipment were offered in the Civic Sport Hatchback. The option and performance mix would be the best thing, as an alternative to the Sport Touring Hatchback. I thought the Continental tires on the Sport Hatchback was the same All Season tires on the Si, and the Goodyear Sport tires shown on your videos were the optional summer performance tires, unless that was mistakenly a video of another vehicle. Boomba Racing has a lower torque dampener engine mount that helps address the engine flex and wheel hop, and Hondata has engine tuning for even more power for the Si, Sport Hatchback, and other Civics. Overall, you can't lose with the Civic Sport Hatchback, Si, or Type R, plus the available simple aftermarket parts mods, tuning and accessories.

I Loved the Si up until 2015, after they've removed VTEC, I can't appreciate Honda anymore that much, VTEC was what made those cars excellent. I'd probably go with a Accord 2.0T 2018 which has a Down Tuned Type R engine in there with VTEC for God's sake !
@skifree07 жыл бұрын
I think you are overhyping VTEC a bit much. It's not important on Turbo cars. For a long response, remember VTEC was a system to adjust valve lift at high engine RPM to attain higher volumetric efficiency. Basically you creating a bigger opening for the air to be sucked in by the piston. a more specialized version of this called i-VTEC was this system and with VTC (variable timing). In the Si, there really is no point with opening valve larger, it's force induction, volumetric efficiency is already over 100% at WOT. making the intake opening bigger doesn't make a large difference when the air coming in is already under 15psi. Also the VTC part is still included in the current motor. as for the type-R motor and why that one has VTEC. It's not even the same system. the K20C vtec works on the EXHAUST CAM ONLY. it's also an inverted cam, where it switches on at lower rpm and shuts off at higher rpm. They do this, as this allows more flow out the exhaust manifold to help spool the turbo. And they chose not to do this on the 1.5L because physically the TD03 turbo is so tiny, that it doesn't really need this system. I can understand if you miss the high revving soul of old honda, but shoehorning in VTEC in these motors isn't going to fix that.
@admirkaralic72097 жыл бұрын
I understand, but VTEC gave a character to these cars, until someone puts a fart can as an exhaust, but that's a different matter. Every car in the industry had something and Honda had VTEC on High Revving Engines. I love the look of the New cars, but I don't understand what is special about them now, other than being Turbo charged Honda's ? They've lost that character feel to the car, that meaning to purchase a Civic, but also they've lost their Fun factor, I had a old Honda Civic 2000, not very powerful, but man does that thing drive nice. The newer ones, just feel like toys full of Useless Tech ( at last useless to me )

Great review Matt! Seems like the Si every gen gets a little more mature. I just sold my 8th gen Si and bought a 9th. Softer suspension, lower redline, etc... I love the 2.4L. this 10th gen just gets more appealing to a broader crowd but I'm sure enthusiasts will disagree
@iheartgs4007 жыл бұрын

Monopoly well considering the Si means "sport injected" it would seem logical to give it stiffer suspension & a higher redline. I think the "broader crowd" you're referring to should maybe look toward the civic hatch 6 speed sport. The Si has always been about it's high spirit, so going in the opposite direction just doesn't make much sense.

Nothing about the new civics feels like a civic. It looks like an accord. I don’t mind the turbo, but it not having vtec bothers me. I have to agree with matt. I prefer the older SI models. I’m a 99 SI owner and I still hold that car in high regard.

Sedan looks starting to grow on me but I'd still probably get the hatch turbo and mod it. Don't understand why they didn't go with at least a 2.0T.
