My dealer had a Colorado ZR2 with the Desert Boss special edition package. $62,000 MSRP which is pricey but that thing looked like you could drive through anything.

I think GM should be brave, and make an RST version of the Colorado and Canyon. There is a fan base for street trucks, and not everyone does off roading. They were smart to go with one body configuration (the take-rate of the long box or extended cab was so low), and also smart to use a field-tested powertrain from their full-size trucks. I think they are going to rethink making so much of the vehicle settings (like lights) through the infotainment system in the next couple of years (put physical switches or a stalk back!), and it will be interesting to see what all of the touch screens are like in places with harsh winters (like most of up here in Canada). These trucks are still on my shirt list for next vehicle, but I agree with others that the price is brutal (even worse in Canada, where an optioned Z71 will have you spending $60K all day long). Great review as always Matt, we love how honest you are, and that you aren't afraid to point out flaws or corner-cutting.

nice review! im so gald you touched on the interior part with the armrest , since i havent been able to test drive any yet but it def looks more like a rough material in the pics , not many reviewers have ever mentioned it but thank you! def makes my decision between AT4 and Chevy slightly easier

When I was shopping for a midsize truck in 2019 number one on my list was the crew cab long bed option. I love many of the changes on the new Colorado but sadly I'm one of the people Chevy stopped making midsize trucks for now that they only offer the mini bed. While their explanation is a low number of sales percentage of the long bed, strange since many are on the road around where I live, I suspect it has more to do with profits. Why would the regular every day truck buyer spend the big bucks on a full size truck when you can get a very nice midsize truck with much the same bed capacity. I moved from a full size truck to a Colorado crew cab long bed and haven't lost a thing in bed capacity and usefulness. All at a cheaper price, better fuel economy and pretty nice luxury. Looks like it's a Tacoma for me at the next trade in.

I had a 2017 Z71 Colorado crew cab 4X4 with the direct injected 3.6 and 8 speed auto, 3.73 gears. Commuting 60 miles round trip for work on country back roads and going easy on the throttle, I averaged 21-23 mpg in the winter and 24-26 mpg in the spring/summer/fall. I was wondering if I could beat that with the 2.7T 🤔

I believe in order to get the 7700lb towing you have to buy the advance towing package. The best is a 17” spare for 20” wheels.

The line between midsize and full size trucks seems to become more blurred with every generation. I miss when the colorados were significantly smaller and more maneuverable than the Silverados. Bring back the S10!

That mileage is terrible! I have a Jeep Cherokee with the 3.2 V6 that gets between 19 and 20 mpg around town and 26 to 28 on the highway.

I ordered a Z71 last May, not here yet but Chevy put 20 inch rims on it, wanted the 18 inch, and did not install the spray on bed liner. So, I'm not buying it. Dealer said Okay.

I vote for Toyota Tacoma 2024 TRD because of the best in class exterior and interior design for the asked price plus deadly reliable. This Chevrolet Colorado will be fine in few years but not on par with japanese quality at the same time.

lol the new Tacoma and Tundra are in a lot of trouble. Idk where you heard they’re reliable from. Mine tundra been in the shop 3 times already and it’s a TRD Pro. TFL truck broke their Tacoma.

Chevy has always had cheap crappy interiors and 4 cylinder engines are loud and noisy and will not lat as long as a v6 or v8 or a Diesel engine
