Or in two years has your wife spit out 8 kids and you’re stuck to the mini van life? People saying it’s too late have no clue what they are talking about and probably drive Corollas. From 2021 sales numbers. I was somewhat surprised that Supra sales were only 6830 in the US. Considering pricing of $43,290 for the base 255 horsepower turbo 4 cylinder up to $54,790 for the 382 horsepower 6 cylinder premium trim. That may be the reason for the low sales numbers since the 300 horsepower EcoBoost Mustang falls at or below the base Supra price while the V8 powered Mustang GT and Dodge Challenger RT falls around the premium Supra price range.

Hmm, tiny bit of me is a little remorseful that I didn't wait until the manual (although it wasn't announced at the time), but I have enough manuals to enjoy, and that cup-holder thing would annoy the shit out of me. Still sounds good rowing through the gears. The auto needs a transmission setting between sport mode and normal mode. Sport mode holds gears too long, normal mode is in like 5th gear by 18mph, it's ridiculous, needs something between the two. So you never hear the engine unless you're cruising in sport, at which point the revs are usually wrong (too high) or are cruising in manual, or you're romping on it. Would be nice to hear that engine more with the manual, but w/e, not going to sell it and buy a new one just for that. The GR Corolla isn't a good benchmark for the adaptive cruise since it's BMW adaptive cruise. Whether the Z4/M manual has it or not is a better benchmark. Same sorta applies for the infotainment. It's a BMW CAN with BMW ECU and BMW infotainment computer, the amount of work required to get the Toyota infotainment SW to work on that is going to be a pretty large effort - it would have to be a 1-off version of the software, lots of man-hours required, and this isn't exactly a lot of car they want to invest a lot in.

@@seanbrewer1232 🤣, Well they may be onto something this time around! I'm planing on buying a Base Z and giving it the full track day treatment, but I have to admit there is no denying this GR tuner version of the new BMW clown shoe isn't fast.

@@anydaynow01 0-60 in 3.9 sec seems pretty fast to me 🤷

@@anydaynow01 you said base and track and I’m thinking… no LSD and bad brakes… by the time you have everything updated you pretty much pay the price of the performance and that’s not modifying suspension and you’re still slower than a Supra… yeah idk man the new Z is cool but the Supra is a way better track car. There’s a reason people are doing amazing things with new chassis at the track. The Z is more of a GT

I wonder if the manual can hold more power?
@MattMaranMotoring2 жыл бұрын
My guess would be that the manual can probably hold less power than the auto since that's typically the case, but I have no info one way or the other regarding Supra.
@davothegreat99902 жыл бұрын
Going by manual supra owners on forums the manual to great stock need upgrade clutch for mods. Since mods respond so well with the b58. Even simple mods with e50 tune and downpipe the zf8 slips after a few runs.

Why they don't have adaptive cruise control in Supra while they have it in Corolla? I don't know, maybe because -- and this is a well-know fact at this point -- it's not a Toyota?
@MattMaranMotoring2 жыл бұрын
Except the auto Supra has it, and in case you were unaware, BMW (and everyone else) also does adaptive cruise…

@@MattMaranMotoring There you go. I just pointed out that a comparison to Toyota Corolla is pointless, 'sall.
@beexiong29952 жыл бұрын
GR86 also does not have adaptive cruise. It is a manual mechanical shifter. I would not want the electronics ripping the shifter out of gear using adaptive cruise. I suspect the manual corolla does not have adaptive cruise? You would have to add an additional mechanical lever and computer to handle all of that on a manual transmission.

This car has to be better than a Z with the manual. Is it as good as a Cayman though? That is more an equal comparison based on performance, in my opinion.

Usually enjoy your videos, but I was really hoping for more talk about how this manual Supra compares to the new Z (and maybe even to your Bullitt Mustang) and less talk about the “crackles and pops”. Personally, maybe it’s just me, but I feel a lot of enthusiasts care way too much about the aural experience. I care more about performance even if the vehicle is a quiet EV.

I think the crackle and pop thing is getting a little old now too every manufacturer is dialing in overrun to give it that off throttle crackle and pop.

Is this more fun than your Bullitt?
@MattMaranMotoring2 жыл бұрын
It depends on what your definition of fun is. It definitely is sportier than the Bullitt and has better handling. Acceleration-wise they're pretty equal, but the Bullitt has more wheelspin which can make it more exciting. All things considered I'd say that yeah it's probably a little more fun than the Bullitt. The gearing is definitely better than the Bullitt because it's shorter.
