Some really nice basis. Might have to to try the raglan top and dress.

3/8" seams are the industrial standard. At least that is what people say who started in manufacturing of clothing. Also they often have us trim to 3/8". Supposedly the big 4 started the 5/8" seam allowance to allow more fitting or easier sewing at home.

Ahh. That makes sense!

Just a fyi: the long cardigan pattern that you were surprised when it didn’t come in the larger size range was simply labeled wrong! Just like all her other patterns, the smaller range was on the left side while the bigger sizes were on the right. They had just forgotten to put the correct size labels above the measurements!

The larger sizes are there- they are right below the smaller range.

The Kimball Bomer Jacket from Cashmerette has a set in sleeve but it zips. You also have to join the one year subscription to the club to get the pattern.

Atelier Scämmit has the bomber jacket you’re looking for! It’s the Solstice Jacket…I think you’ve done a FIF video on that pattern company.

I have! How did I miss that one?

I’ve made the Cozi Jacket from pattern scout a number of times - it’s one of my tnt patterns. She has an extension to the pattern which includes a full collar and buttons or snaps. I highly recommend it - can be made in knit or woven fabrics

I've had the Highland dress on my wishlist for years now so maybe it's time now 😊 I also only have seen beautiful versions so far of it!

Couldn't you lay another jacket pattern out and draft the set in sleeve from that-making an all new pattern piece?? That way-voila-you can have both!

I could…but I’m lazy. Haha!

I’ve never bought a pattern from this company despite being aware of them for years. I really like almost all of the patterns. I wonder if I’ve never been moved to purchase because the designs are for basics. That being said there’s a place for really good basics so I might give them a try.

Why not standardized seam allowances?
@danieallen56092 жыл бұрын
On indie patterns knits are usually 1/4 to reduce bulk and because of the stretch you don't need the room for error or taking in. For wovens it is also usually 3/8 for indie because 5/8 is a waste. Their measurements are more precise than the big 4 companies. The patterns are more boxy so the fit just doesn't need it. Wovens need to be bigger for allowances for specialized seam finishes like French or Hong Kong. Knits are usually just serged.

The website is a great resource for sure. Thanks for reviewing these patterns. You did a sew along for M8020 (which I did with you!) and it had the elastic in the neckline. I need to wear that dress more often! 😊

Never heard of this company and I’ve been sewing for 34 years. So strange.
