Review and Demo - AI Prime Freshwater Lights on African Cichlid Waterbox Tank!

In this video I give a brief review/demonstration of the AI Prime Freshwater lights I have on my 6ft Lake Malawi African Cichlid Waterbox Tank (that was a mouthful). The main points I cover are:
1. Why I chose these lights (customisability, ease of use, bluetooth, fitting on 19mm glass/suit a rimless tank, aesthetic).
2. Mounting.
3. Bluetooth/App.
4. Customisable Colours.
Throughout the video I show footage of the lights to try to give the best depiction of what these lights look like. Let me know what you think!

Love your content Kaity, finding it super helpful. Got my first tank with a whole batch of 14 Yellow Lab fry. 2 weeks old now and their swimming around like little champs. Also 3 Blue Dolphins and 2 Bristlenose catfish. Im hooked on fishkeeping now as a hobby and researching my next tank. Id like to get the 6ft and go all out. Very nice....I've been looking at lighting for my 100.3 setup and like you will have Cichlids. Thanks for showing all the customization features, that is exactly what I want to do with mine. Do you feel I would need 1 or 2 of these for my tank? I'm thinking 2 of them?

Hi Kaity! i have a question about this light mounting opcions. i can’t see in the video execly im looking for. so in your lid, u have space for the brackets and for the screws. 3 screws of yours are in the inside of the tank. my question is, can u swich the lower part of the mounting arm to make the screws facing to the wall? so the screws will be outside of the edge of the tank on the back side. i need to know becouse i have the 6ft waterbox having the overflow box in the middle, and my lid doesn’t have the space like u do. i planning to get 3 lights like this, but i want to keep my lid on, and to make holes on edge of the lid is not opcion. i hope i was able to explain what i need to know 😃. thank u! nice tank

How much algae do you get from these lights? I switched from old T8s and even on my planted tank it grows tons of algae now. I run the lights with pretty low settings too.

I did get pretty bad algae initially even on a low setting, but I got some bristlenose catfish that took care of it

Do you know if cichlids like a specific color or do they get stress over a certain light color?

No that I'm aware of, but when I was first deciding on my lights/colour I took into consideration that in the wild they come from a lake that has a lot of sun on it all day with minimal foliage coverage so I opted for quite a bright white/blue tinge

You could get away with 1, but I would probably go with 2 if you can

Of course! The lights come on at 11 and are fully on by 12pm, then they dim down again at 10pm, and turn off by 11pm. I have the colour intensity all on around 10-15% I believe, they are super strong lights

@@Kaityscichlids Are you just running based on the the K level and intensity or do you have actual % of each color set? It's hard to find something that fits just right on these.

@@KoiBoy6 I just had a proper look and I've them on 64% blue, 36% red and cool white, and 13% warm white. And it's running at 15W altogether. I don't know a lot about lights, that's pretty much the extent of what I understand 😂

Hi Spiro! It won't let me add a photo, but if you go to 3:15 on the video and pause it you can see the % I have each colour set on. They are on 1pm till 10pm with an hour sunrise and sunset

Yes, they are super pricey!! They were all I could get, so I had to bite the bullet. The only other pendant lights I could get were Bioscape ones, and they were like $100 less per light, but didn't have a full colour spectrum/couldn't be dimmed. But I definitely would have liked to go for a cheaper option if I could have. I looked at DIY stuff too but didn't trust myself in that domain haha
