Overview / Review / Demo: iLoud MTM and PreSonus Eris E66. (See below for clickable Video Index)
Intro to the MTM design and how its used in the iLoud and PreSonus models. Overview and comparison of iLoud MTM and PreSonus E66. A pair of matched Rode M5 mics were used to record the monitors in this video.
Keep in mind that while you'll be able to hear differences between these two sets of monitors, you won't hear the full capabilities on these using your current speakers (plus some loss of quality is there just by being on KZbin).
I sell PreSonus, iLoud and more at awesome prices! Be sure to check out my website at www.PianoManChuck.com

You really put every possible effort into that review, much thanks! I have given the little brother of the E44 a good, hard look, thinking about how fast, accurate and clear good 3.5" mid woofers usually sound! I wish I could ever find a review this good on the Presonus Sceptre S8 monitors

Hey sorry for the very late reply, but regarding the Screptre S8 monitors: They sound really good. I'm not a music producer or anything, but I can tell the sound quality, detail and stereo image is on point. I use them along with the Audient ID22 interface and a pair of Temblor T10 subwoofers, and it's awesome. Definitely worth the money.

@clydesandry5351

Firstly you zre the very best of the best when it comes to reviews. Honest, open and detailed. I bought my Kawaii MP 11SE primarily on your review. Now, i have been using a pair of Tannoy Reveal 502's with 5" woofer and tweeter. Each speaker bi-amped 75w per side. They cost me 260 euros for the pair. I purchased a pair of i loud mtm's to compare. They were going to cost me 670euros discounted. The truth was. To my ears, very little difference. I did a number blind tests with friends most could not say one was better. And often they prefered the Tannoys. Now they are amazing for the size, but your paying more than twice the price for a smaller design. My advice would be try them live against a high quality speaker with 5" bass and see how much difference there is for extra money. Especially if your using for home use. Ive returned the MTM's purely because there the difference was not noticable for twice the money. Sorry for the lenth of my comment. AND This is no reflection on Chuck. He's the best of the best.....😊

MTM speaker design is good for when you're sitting at a mixing console or your desk or other setup where you basically don't move much from the triangular position that's ideal for the setup between the two monitors and your ears. The included calibration mic also sets it up for optimal listening while in that position. The Tannoy monitors you're using are NOT of the MTM design, so you'll get a much wider dispersion that's better for moving around in the room. The narrow dispersion of the MTM design, again, is good for a fixed listening position - which is what mixing engineers will be doing anyway.

Thanks for the review. On the back of the PreSonus, they could have made the difference between the top two "Acoustic Space" desk diagrams a little more obvious! I guess in the first diagram, the desk is a little further away from the wall than in the second one. But at first glance, it's not all that clear that those lines are intended to represent the back wall.

Can you use both microphones in stereo for calibration. They could have used ASP instead of DSP would have been better Presonus better more detail seems to have a wider soundstage more controlled the iloud sound muddy and lost a bit. How much are the presonus.? I might consider them, I was looking at the new tannoy 8 in gold monitor concentric driver series any experience Don't forget the iloud are limited to how far they can go back with the presonus can go right against the wall and enhance the low to mid frequencies even further

LOL... it's funny how the mind works till you realize a few things. So I'm sitting over here "wowing" and "awing" at the sound the iLouds were putting out during his test... Got all excited and everything thinking of how well they were standing up to Eris E66 bully looking-ass until it downed on me that I was actually listening to the great sound of a Dell sound bar attached to the base of one of my work monitors... LMAO I do imagine that we can get a certain perception of quality drop-off (or not) when the speakers are A and B'd... still, GREAT job!

'Really appreciate the quality of your review, Chuck. Listened to your video using a pair of iLoud MMs (not MTMs) and unlike on my phone or home theater set-up, I could hear some background buzz/hum from both the MTMs and the PreSonus. Can you tell me if that buzz was coming from the monitors or from some other part of your setup? I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out and eliminate that exact sort of buzz or high noise floor from my own mixing set-up with only partial success. As far as MTMs vs. PreSonus speakers, I hear slightly richer lows and low mids from the PreSonus resulting in a greater clarity overall. But it could be that the PreSonus monitors are adding their own character to the sound which my ears may like better but at the expense of true "flatness". Very informative comparison, regardless! 'Love your channel - thanks for the effort and the attention you pay to the details! 👍

With most pro subs, they have left & right 1/4" line inputs and left &right 1/4" line outputs. You feed your source to those line inputs, and then the line outputs go to your regular studio monitors. The sub takes what it needs from there.

Hm, in an untreated room without any bass traps, I'm still pretty fine with my Presonus Eris E3.5 studio monitors + Fostex PM-SUBmini 2 subwoofer combo. No big unwanted room reflections or muddy bass waves overshadowing the rest of the frequencies, kinda flat frequency response, very low power usage, no unwanted inherent noises from the monitors, despite the smaller size a really roomfilling sound, you can also easily listen to your tracks from a close distance below 1 m and on lower volumes critically, very stylish design. And, for an additional critical listening option (especially for the sub bass area from 5 to 40 Hz, since my studio monitor system with the subwoofer only goes down to around 40 Hz) I've got a high-end studio headphones solution consisting of: - Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro studio headphones (pretty flat frequency response, frequency range from 5 to 35000 Hz, very analytic and with a very good audio resolution, you don't have any issues with room reflections or noise-sensitive neighbours as long as you are mixing via headphones) - Lake People G109-P headphone amp (high-end headphone amp for driving high-impedance headphones like Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro properly throughout the whole frequency range) Everything connected to my Steinberg UR44 audio interface with lots of different connection possibilities - and that's all I need. ))

💯 this would be a good advice for my home setup! Thanks a bunch! Now I can focus more on my commercial studio setup!
@Master.Mi.777
@Master.Mi.777 2 жыл бұрын
@@budakhutan6104 I you want to go for a commercial music production setup, go straight for the professional Yamaha MSP studio monitors (the smallest MSP 3 should be fine, if you keep the Fostex sub) - cause the MSP series are something like the professional versions of the Yamaha HS series. The Yamaha MSP 3 are about four times the price of the Presonus Eris E3.5 - but if you want to do mixing at a commercial level, they are definitely worth it. With these you have an even greater audio definition (one of the best audio definition I've ever experienced at studio monitors) and a pretty even frequency response from 65 to 22000 Hz. And they won't cause much trouble with nasty bass refelections in the room - even if the room isn't acoustically treated in a professional way (wallpaper, floor covering, couch and other furniture should be fine to absorb most of the bass reflections). So, these studio monitors are professional tools which really show you the weaknesses of your mix straight in your face. Your old mixings might sound a little bit duller and less spectacular on the MSP 3 in the first place - but if you mix your old tracks a second time on these babies and get them to sound good on these studio monitors, the tracks will sound really amazing on every other sound system after the mixing. Besides, my newest track (the Goldfinger remix) has been already mixed on my Yamaha MSP 3 + Fostex PM-SUBmini 2 subwoofer. The tracks I've uploaded before I have primarily mixed on my Presonus Eris E3.5 + Fostex PM-SUBmini 2 subwoofer. So you might check the differences of the mixing quality a little bit better by yourself. Good luck, dude.

actually the Presonus do loose something with the excentric tweeter placement. the iLoud is symmetrical while the Presonus is not. It will have worse dispersion on the side where the tweeter is the furthest. Also "MTM" is one thing but MTM array following the "D `Apollito" rules is what the interesting thing is. MTM by itself is not helpful if the design is "half baked" And this is where you need symmetry and the Presonus fails this with its design. But its a long story and anyone wanting to know more can look up "D`Apollito" principle in speakers . Btw i don`t understand the comparisson tbh. One has twin 6,5inch woofers and the other 3,5. One 6,5 inch has roughly the same cone area as two 3,5 drivers. The enclosure volume seems to be like at least 10 times times more on the presonus. Nonetheless , luxury problems we have now. So many grat speakers for affordable prices
