Nice review! I have that set but it didn't have the sponge or extra tray but I liked it so much that I bought the pastel one (there is a cocktail one too but all the colors in it are in the 42 and pastel sets so I passed on it) and the pastel one has the sponge and extra tray. I think the sponge might become more absorbent with use. I removed it to since and it cleaned really well tho. Im a sucker for cute palettes! Sorry about your video getting swiped. It happens a lot and companies are so bold, they will grab videos using products that are clearly not theirs and make a commwrcail. One of my paintings using this set ended up on aliexpress advertising this palette! It was from the same seller I purchased from on Amazon and I did post it with a review of the palette so I'm not really upset but it would be nice to be asked (and credited!) Loved your sketches btw:)

Wow Lindsay, I just did a quick search on alie express and sure enough they used a frame from your video to showcase the florals you did in your review. They didn't even bother covering your signature from. So sad that artists don't get credit for their work!

Lindsay, Amazon has the one you reviewed (or several, just like it, with the 42 colors but no sponge or extra tray) down to $15-$16 now, and if you search long enough you'll find the one Eve shows (or similar) with the same 42 colors and the sponge and extra palette as well ($16.99!) It takes a little digging. Thank you both for reviewing this. It really pushed me over the buying edge. I don't know if that's bad or good, but it's fun.

it's not nearly as versatile and it can get a bit streaky due to the opacifiers, I didn't love it like I did the 42 set.

This set was in my cart, but I had pass them up because they were to be delivered while we were on vacation lol! I can't believe they stole your video, that's so wrong! It's really sweet of you to try to work with them, they should have just done it that way in the first place 😉 Thanks Eve 😊👍

Thanks Michael Ann! :) I agree, if the companies wrote to us before stealing the videos, I'm sure we could collaborate. Most of us expect some sort of credit, somewhere in the video, it's the very least of things.

Thanks for this video. I am getting ready to buy a set like this and find there are at least 3 different 'brand' names on the labeling. I think the sponse is for wiping off the sponge tip of the pen. None of the sets I am now comparing mention a sponge; or, perhaps, people have talked their way out of it being included in these sets. Happy painting to all.

The cat cliiiiiiip!!! Cutest thing ever, I never noticed it. And I agree, if you can't fight them, join them. And they're very nice colors, good on the go but probably not for giftable projects or something you want to showcase at home. I'll have to reply to Mikki and see if she can send me the lightfastness test as well.

Nice little review. It bites that someone in the company took your footage previously then feigned that they had no idea. But at least they were willing to rectify the matter and work with you. If I hadn't just bought a mini porcelain palette via Amazon, I might buy this one just to try it out. The paints seem nice and transparent, and really worked well with your style! That black is rather sad and faded though. More like a dark payne's grey or something. Nice little review. Thanks for sharing :)

Nice review, sorry about the swipe. There are tons of the these sets that look to have exactly the same colors but have different branding and a broad range of prices. You mentioned this but do you know if they are all the same manufacture just with different labeling?

Eve Bolt - Bolt's Vault oh my goodness, it arrived and i love it!!!! I got it for about $17 i think, The colors are great, the brush is nice (i don’t often like waterbrushes), and the mixing palette area is really nice. I made a swatch card that i fit beneath the palette. Thank you!

Haven't started to watch the video, but I have to say that I'm looking forward to see what you make with these. I got the original 42 set also over a month ago (without the sponge and extra mixing area) and also bought the pastel set (18 paints with soft pink case) and the cocktail (25 with lilac case) set this last weekend. The pastel and cocktail sets have the sponge on the top and the white mixing area between the last tray and the casing and were released last weekend on Amazon (I know because I keep looking them up daily since I'm thinking of getting one for my niece) and I just couldn't resist even though I haven't even broken into the original 42 set! 😅 I know, I may or not may not have issues with collecting watercolor sets. 🤣😇 And sure enough you didn't disappoint! Those sketches were very nice!

So if you own the 42-colors and 18-colors pastel sets, you will actually get the cocktail set covered.

You are welcome. As this brand comes from China, so the information is all in Chinese. But I think you can more or less decipher the color based on the color-coding and the colors of the tins. However, if you need help, just let me know, I can help to translate.

Great review! I've been thinking of trying that set but I think the way it closes is a design flaw. The pieces should lock in place when closed. I'm also wondering if leaking would be an issue if the paints are still wet when you close it. I know you could dry it off yourself but I wonder if the company could come up with a better design fix.

Thank you! :) It is a design flaw, I agree. At least it's very easy to fix with a rubber band. My mailman leaves me with a few regularly. And I'm not sure about the paints leaking... When using the waterbrush, there's not enough water on a paint to pool, so I don't think it would roll off the trays. I would still carry it in a ziploc bag, to be safe.

It really depends on how you use them. If you paint smaller paintings with light colors, they will last you longer than if you paint large with vibrant colors :)

Oh, it’s interesting that there was a sponge on the top layer, and your thoughts that the paint was extruded. Mikki’s video was stolen as well-the people who were making those ads FOR SURE knew the footage was stolen, though a lot of the ads seemed to have been “purchased” by third party seller sites that were even further removed than places like wish and Ali express. I’m really annoyed that the advertisers took advantage of the hard work a lot of people put into their reviews. =-_-= without even giving credit!! So frustrating.

Extremely common in China. I know someone who went for a "job interview", where they asked him to demonstrate his ability. He never heard back about the "job", and later found the recording was not used for his "application", but was incorporated into training videos.
