I can see this tool becoming another in our line of “most used”. As renovations contractors we love the impact, oscillating saw, and this will likely fill the gap we have when some more powerful and quicker than the oscillating saw can do. For us the standard size circular is too large, the oscillating can be too slow, the reciprocating saw too rough, and the jig saw too delicate!

This would be too small to use as a framing saw.Wonder if the small motor would hold up in the tough world of framing.Could see this in a framers toolkit for cutting window openings.Don't know how well this machine would hold up on rip cuts on 2 by stock.You do hear the motor lug down in the 2 by cuts in the video.

At one time Rockwell made fine tooth woodcutting and a metal cut blades in that size.This machine would be a trim saw-finer tooth carbide and metal cut carbide blades should be made available for this machine.It would be a handy size-have a plug in Rockwell machine similar to this.

Nice review. It would really be helpful to know how long it lasts cutting through 2x or 3/4-in plywood. Also I highly recommend you lower the volume when firing up the saw, it's a little harsh on the ears.

Not long with standard batteries, I bet. It was already slowing down with this simple cut - for my nickel - for 100 I will get a good one someone wants to get rid of. That is my idea of a bargain.

That isn't a belt hook. Could you imagine DeWalt's lawyers actually giving the ok for them to suggest you hang a saw from your belt? It is a "hang" hook, or if you prefer, a rafter hook.

There isn't a safety factor when hanging it from your belt. You'll need to depress a blade release button first and then the trigger button to get it operational.

Correct. DeWalt sells separate belt hooks for their tools. It's completely differently. That would never stay on a belt.

This saw is designed to be used for cutting wood, fiber cement and similar materials. There's not a metal cutting blade currently available.

Many other blades that will fit it? I just came from HD and they didn’t have a single 4.5 blade. I think the lack of blades will limit its utility. I could see using it for trim and molding, but not with a 24-tooth blade. And if there aren’t any fine tooth blades for it.....then it’s not worth buying.

Lee B. Unfortunately a 4.5” blade is probably not a common size blade for HD, also due to the smaller diameter of the blade 24T would be considered more of a finish blade. We’d recommend using a miter saw for trim

I bought a 4 3/8” diablo finish blade, 36 tooth which is really fine on such a small blade, works great on hardwoods and trim.

@scott, we currently have the Diablo D0436X 4-3/8 In. 36-Tooth blade in stock. We are still waiting for product data from DeWALT for their blades, but those should be listed and available for purchase on our website in the coming days. Those blades will include a general purpose wood blade which comes with the saw, DWA412TCT, and a fiber cement blade, DWA412PCD. Otherwise, the saw will accept any 4-1/2" blade with a 3/8" arbor, regardless of manufacturer.
