The problem with the powder check die is that when you have to return the rode to use it with e.g. 308 Win bottleneck cases, there is no more any plastic tip. The rode is too thin plain metal. So, sometimes it remains on the top of the powder, whereas some other times, it goes a little bit too deep. It is then quite impossible to maintain a consistent depth set up, and it keeps ringing with no reason. But, as long as you can use the side of the rode with the plastic tip, it just works fine.

Thanks for watching and thanks for your input! That's interesting, I have not used the powder check for rifle cases, only 9mm and 40 cal, so that's good to know. Maybe Saul from DAA could figure out a fix to make it work more consistently.

Thanks for watching! That is a great question that no one has asked before. No, I do not have any issues with it even being anywhere close to hitting the powder bar. I have the UniqueTech micrometer on my powder bars as well, which stick out further and everything clears perfectly. I know it looks close on the video, but it's not.

@@docgsreloading7985 that's weird, you are using xl750 right? I ask because I just tried to install my DAA powder check on my xl750 and its magnet hits the powder bar. Can't seem to rotate the powder drop assembly out of the way as it just rotates back when I start the press again.

@@arnold-moger That is weird. Do you lock your powder measure down with the die lock-ring? I just rotated my powder dispenser as you can see in the video where the powder measure reset arm that attaches to the ram head lines up perfectly. I just double checked mine and I have plenty of clearance. You could email Saul at Double Alpha Academy and ask him about it. He's a great guy and always gets back to me right away with answers. @@docgsreloading7985 yeah my lock ring is tightened down all the way. Only difference is I have the quick disconnect for my powder measure from Entirely Crimson. But I'll shoot him and email and see what he has to say!

just got one yesterday the new 2.0 ,,so far not a fan I set it just like double alpha says to where the alarm stops, run the press alarm go's off ,re-set and run press alarm go's off,, no matter where I set the magnet the alarm go's off and of course todays Saturday and there closed ,,O ya and the new 2.0 dont have the sensitivity adjustment

Thanks for watching! Hey, are you loading pistol or rifle cartridges? Both Saul, the owner of DAA and I agree that it won't work with rifle cases because of the way the powder goes into the bottlenecked case. I can't use it for 223 Remington. I do use it for 9mm and 40 S&W and I have had no real problems with it. Occasionally, I'll get an alarm if the powder isn't flat in the case and once I give it a visual, I just keep going. That only happens once per several hundred loads, so much less than 1% of the time. If you're having problems, get a hold of Saul at Double Alpha, here's his email: [e-mail] I know it says "info" but that's the email I use to get a hold of him with questions.

@@docgsreloading7985 yep thats exactly what im loading rifle 223, I'm going to call them Monday figure I would get this over the Dillon, ive watched his video he said just flip it over so the foot is on top I watched yours and any other video I could find thinking I was doing something wrong, none of them said anything about it don't work in rifle, thanks for the heads up, I guess I can quit throwing stuff across the room cause I couldn't fig it out ,,,lol

@@masterlordking YES!! So for sure, it will not work with any rifle case and especially 223--that's straight from Saul! I just took it off and put a bullet feeder there. Check out my video on the bullet feeder: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZzFlZatm9yomJo It works great and there is really no way that you'd ever get a failure of the powder measure to throw a charge. I don't gauge my 223 rounds, but every 300 I do check the primers on every one (about 1 will have a primer in sideways and another one will have a primer that fell out because the primer pocket is too stretched-out) and I toss those.

How do you keep powder from sticking to it and spilling. Mine is new and powder sticks to it or flings up on it and spills when the case is lowered. Thanks

Thanks for watching. I have not had that issue--but I use Vihtavuori N320 powder which is an extruded non-perforated grain powder, so I'm sure if you're using a flake or ball type powder it may stick more. I'm sorry that I don't have a solution for that problem.

Upgraded version An additional improvement to the DAA Magnetic Powder Check 2.0 is that the polymer shoe on the end of the plunger rod (which contacts the powder) has now been replaced with a brass CNC machined part, which helps to reduce the static electricity which could cause some powder to be lifted out of the case.
