REVIEW: JHS PG-14 - A Paul Gilbert Fans Opinion

at 7:20. the MID FREQ doesn't do anything because the top knob MID is flat (at noon), you have to either cut (left) or boost (right) the MID knob in order for the MID FREQ to do something. THis is like the Metal Zone Mid concentric Knob, and also like the Haunting Mids from JHS (which is a pedal with these 2 knobs only). I guess they just put that circuit (from MT2, and Haunting Mids) into this PG14. I think its awesome, so versatile.

9:30 to get chugging, you had to move both MID knobs to the left (MID to Cut, and MID FREQUE to low freqs). Drive around 2oclock, play with tone to hear what you need, keep push very low (9 oclock), only use push if you want the fuzz-getting-stuck effect. Can you give this a try?

I think you are right about the flubby low end. Maybe that's why PG always pairs it with MojoMojo, AC booster or JHS Bonzai.

might be! An OD ifront that cuts out some low end to tighten it up might be smart to try =)

It’s definitely flubby, but kinda in the same way that a lot of unboosted amps tend to be. I tried the PG-14 boosted by a TS-9 and it tightened up a lot. But this was just a quick test. I don’t own the pedal.

oh yeah, nice review, probably one of the bests on youtube about this pedal. Awesome guitar, amp and playing. I just ordered mine can't wait to have it. This is an OD pedal so the gain won't tighten the low and mids like a metal pedal. You can always stack it ... i.e. use a metal pedal for tone, and this one for leads. Or scoop the mids (MID left, and MID FREQ between 9o clock somewhree)
