The Claris and Clearyl filters are an ingenious combination of a charcoal water filter and a single use water softener. If you cut one open you will find about 50% water softener resin beads and 50% activated charcoal granules. The resin beads remove the calcium and the charcoal does the chemical and contaminant filtering. They do a fabulous job of preventing calcification scale, as well as cleaning up the water. I stick with Jura machines 100% because of this and have several, you can't go wrong. Occasionally you need to tear them down and overhaul the brew group, install a new membrane pressure regulator, and change out the grinder burrs. There's plenty of videos here on youtube. It's an easy afternoons work, just brew up an espresso or coffee to get you started!

Hi! Great video, very useful! May I ask you if the E8 worth the ~$700 CAD difference vs the E6. I love the taste of a good cup of coffee or espresso, I drink maybe 3-4 cups per day. I don’t drink as much cappuccino since I have a basic coffee maker and cappuccinos are quite expensive at places near me. I consider myself as a coffee lover but not a coffee expert.

Great review, Marc! I'm looking to purchase my first Super Automatic machine and give up my capsules. I've narrowed in on the Jura E8 but my only concern is the temperature of the milk. Does the milk get hot enough (within your recommended range) for a proper milk-based coffee drink? Also, I enjoy Americano's---does the water get hot enough to make an Americano. Last question, for some milk based drinks (i think a flat white), it adds steamed milk and finely foamed milk. The Z6 does this automatically. Can the E8 do it as well, or do you have to manually adjust the milk frother during the process of making the drink? Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, again!

Great review as always. This channel has really helped me understand the differences between the different brands as I try to make up my mind on what machine to invest in. The Jura E8 is definitely one of the contenders. I haven’t seen any reviews or mention in your channel of the saeco Xelsis. It seems to be a neat machine with a very intuitive interface. I’m a little worried about the maximum sprout height in this Jura machine as it won’t fit larger mugs. Any thoughts on the Saeco Xelsis versus this Jura E8?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Samer, Thanks for your comments and questions - always happy to help! We no longer carry the Xelsis but we do have the Gaggia Babila which is essentially the same machine as the Xelsis. Here's a link to a side by side comparison of the Jura E8 and the Gaggia Babila: www.wholelattelove.com/pages/compare?products=MjMxMDgwMjIxMDg3MCwxNTQ1OTcyODQyNTU1 I'll note that E8 cup clearance under the milk spout is 6.25 inches. When making a milk drink on the E8 espresso is delivered from a spout with that clearance as well. Clearance under the E8 coffee only spouts (center of machine) is 4.25 inches. Big differences in the machines: Babila uses a self-cleaning carafe for milk drinks. Push the spout over after use and steam is routed through milk components automatically so the carafe is ready to go back in the fridge for next time. The E8 uses a milk tube system which can be dropped in any milk source or attached to accessory milk container products. Cleaning that is a bit more involved. Hope that helps! Marc

Hi Marc, I have a new E8 with a milk system and have been playing with the various options. I can't seem to find a way to create my own special drink using milk. When I select Special Coffee on the machine or the app it just seems to be coffee only. So if I want to make a variant on a flat white (like a cortado) I can't do it. Am I missing something. The Jura docs got me up and running but they are very basic.

Hi Peter, I sure can! In general if doing shorter drinks like espresso tend toward the finer grind settings. For longer coffees tend toward the coarser settings. If doing a mix of long and short compromise with a setting in the middle. Whenever I start out with a new super-automatic machine I always set to the finest grind setting, highest strength and temperature settings. I then back off on grind and strength settings if needed - say if I was detecting bitter flavors. Hope that helps! Marc

Hi Marc - I am writing in this older video since this is the amazing unit I purchased. For the PEP I know I can click Espresso twice and the E8 will brew 2 shots of espresso using 1 grind cycle. If I use the Doppio setting it will grind 2 separate shots as an example 3 oz of espresso it will grind 2 shots at 1.5 oz each. I assume based on your recent review of the Gaggia machines if I use the Doppio setting for 2 shots I am getting a better extraction? Thank you.

I have a Gaggia Classic which I’ve done many upgrades to but I’m looking to get something new. How do the espresso shots from the Jura machines compare to what I’m used to with my Jura but also from a semi-auto in the same price range as the E8? I expect that I’d be giving up something for the convenience package but just how much is that?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, Thanks for the question. Quality difference is hard to quantify. If one is skilled at semi-auto then you can make better shots with the Classic. Jura super-autos and others are about the convenience and consistency. You give up some fine-tuning of extractions. With Jura's PEP extraction you get a very good espresso and it's quick and easy. Hi Adrian, Thanks for the question and your patronage! I always start at the finest grind setting and back off from there if needed. It's best to set that prior to putting beans in the hopper. No problem if you change grind setting after adding beans but the grinder should be running when adjusting to finer grind settings. Also I always start with highest temperature and coffee strength settings and back off on those as needed. Hope that helps and enjoy your new machine! Marc

Love Thank you for your quick response. I was using 2% milk - should I be using whole fat for all milk product drinks - I am fairly new to anything not straight coffee. I get good froth, I have only had the machine for 4 days now although have had allot of company and made maybe 40 drinks. I rinse the coffee and milk system everyday. Also, should the grinder be set to the finest setting for all coffee drinks (I like strong coffee). Cheers

No problem. You do not have to use whole milk. I just prefer its texture/creaminess. I’ve never had an issue getting the layers. You could try setting froth lever for steamed milk first then switch to a froth. If you like it strong go for a finer setting.

Hell yeah!🤙🏼 That is the secret right there, this was driving me crazy. Do steamed milk (lever down) for a bit, then switch to frothed milk (lever up) for the remainder of the drink process. It will give you good layers, just like Mark did in this video :)

We love hot coffee (I have a Jura F8 that just died after 14 yrs….my ONLY complaint was not quite "hot enough" coffee). I'm interested in this E8 because of the "warmed milk" feature. Wondering if you can use "creamer" in the milk container, to warm your creamer. I have a better half who loves a lot of cream in his coffee, and in doing so, it cools the coffee down.

I am trying to determine how much caffeine is being consumed with the milk drinks. For a flat white or latte etc after selecting the strength and the time of the milk, you can select the ounces of espresso and the default on my machine is 3 ounces. So would it be true that the default is 3 ounces (or 3 shots) of espresso? I’ve noticed that even if I increase it to 4.5 ounces that when emptying the coffee grounds that there is only 1 little hockey puck shaped thing of coffee grounds, so it appears like it only used a single serving of coffee grounds. Would 4.5 ounces equate 4.5 shots or espresso or would it be less? Thanks very much.
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Philip, Thanks for a great question. No matter how much brew water is used the amount of coffee will be the same. You can change the amount of coffee using the strength setting. Max coffee dose on most Jura machine is ~14g. You'll get that much when at the highest strength setting. The amount of caffeine in a beverage depends on a number of variables like brew water contact time, type of coffee and roast level of coffee. More contact time extracts more caffeine. There's usually more caffeine in Robusta than Arabica coffee. Lighter roasted coffee tends to have more caffeine than darker roast - roasting "cooks" off caffeine. A common misconception is espresso has more caffeine than drip/filter coffee. If one were to use the same whole bean coffee and brew as espresso and drip/filter coffee the drip/filter coffee will have more caffeine than the espresso due to the longer contact time with brew water. Brewing 4.5 ounces does not equate to 4.5 shots. The 4.5 ounces will have more caffeine due to the longer water contact time with the coffee. Hope that helps! Marc

Hey, I am looking at various super automatic machines from jura. The E8 seems like it makes great espresso and long coffee. However, the milk system seems like a pain to maintain. I saw on the jura website that you can remove and swap the frother if it wears out. Then i saw that the older jura steam wands you can order apparently fit. So do you know if i could remove the frother and attach the jura 2 stage bullet tip Nozzle steam wand? I had considered just getting the ena 4 and a separate frother but the max of 10g pucks seems like the longer coffees will be weak. Thanks, your videos are super helpful!

Additionally, for the pressure chamber in Jura machines by the portafilter. Are those parts that deal with the heat and pressure of brewing espresso metal? Hi Connor, Thanks for the questions. If you want a super-automatic machine with a manual frothing wand take a look at the Gaggia Cadorna Barista Plus: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-cadorna-barista-plus-automatic-espresso-machine-architectural-white-marble The Cadorna doses up to 11.5g per brew cycle and you can easily double that up by selecting to make 2 drinks and get a dose of up to 23g using 2 grind and brew cycles. The brewing chambers (brew units) in all super-automatic machines use plastics with a metal plate screen (filter basket). All plastics used in these machine are recognized as food safe in EU and US. Can you run just a regular coffee through the milk drink spout without milk? I am concerned that a travel mug will not fit under the coffee spouts.
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom, It is possible to brew up to 8oz of coffee through the coffee/milk spout combo with the higher cup clearance. You would have to program one of the milk-based espresso beverages on the machine to get the coffee coming out of the higher spouts. The machine will still want to do milk for a minimum set time of 3 seconds. If no milk tube is connected you'll just get steam from the spout. Maybe not the best option but it works. Personally, I'd have a look at a machines like the Gaggia Babila or Accademia. They have enough clearance under the spout for most travel mugs. Also do well switching between regular coffee and espresso beverages as they both have a flow control on the spout which allows for manual control of flow rate. You can restrict for espresso and let it flow faster for regular coffee to avoid over-extraction. If interested you can see the Babila and Accademia in action in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mX3Mk4lnmcyqn6c Hope that helps! Marc

Hi Naomi, Thanks for the question. I’m using Maromas Orphea: www.wholelattelove.com/products/maromas-orphea-whole-bean-espresso It’s an Italian style bean blend roasted in Italy which gets excellent customer reviews! We import on a regular basis. It’s the type of coffee which does not have to be incredibly fresh to produce excellent results. Marc

One thing I’m not quite understanding...on flat white and latte macchiato, if I want to increase the amount of coffee, is that determined by the amount of ‘water’? Or does that just make it weaker? I want say equivalent to 2 x Espresso shots in there not a single watered down. Or does the ‘strength’ determine the amount of actual coffee it grinds? In the app it’s referred to as ‘amount of water’ on the machine it’s referred to as ‘volume’ thanks!

Hello! When making a Latte Machhiato with my Jura E8 I can't get the layers to separate as defined as yours does. I have set my interval to 20 seconds and have even tried to momentarily switch it from foam to steam milk with the lever. Do you have any suggestions for me to be able to get that defined layering? What grind level do you have your coffee on? Thanks!
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Christian! Thanks for the question. At that interval you should get some separation. What type of milk are you using? I'm using whole fat. Are you getting a good froth when lever is set to foam position? If not it may need a cleaning. Any milk residue can reduce frothing performance. It helps to use a taller/skinnier glass to get more density layering of the milk. Also have the spout as close as possible to surface of frothed milk when the espresso is added. My grinder is set to its finest grind size position. Hope that helps! Marc

Hello i have other question, when you talk about not using oily grains, what do you mean with that? because as far as i know every good grains when grounded it liberates some oils ? sorry i am a starter here, would be great if you make some videos of tasting coffee and that kind of stuff to learn more :) also for the cappuccinos, i want them to have the layers really defined, but i have tried getting 20sec interval, 10 sec interval, stronger coffee or more soft, what configurations you recommend to get the perfect cappuccino in the machine? (in the classic cappuccino cup)
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ricardo, First no need to be sorry about anything! Always here to help anyone. When discussing oily beans I'm referring to beans with visible oils on the surface of the bean prior to grinding. I'm not concerned with oils withing the beans. Personally I do not like dark roasted coffee. With those, you are more likely to be tasting the roast (think the typical starbucks style coffee) than the flavor of the bean. It's fairly common practice to over roast poor quality beans to hide their inferior flavor. For a cappuccino on the E8 I'd start with the machines factory preset for milk and espresso volumes. They key to the milk is setting the lever on the frothing component to get the froth quality you want. For classic cappuccino set the lever to produce the airiest froth possible. Other than that I recommend setting the grind size to minimum for best espresso extraction. Hope that helps! Marc

I just purchased this machine from you guys and am wondering...since they did away with the lever to go from "froth to steamed" milk on the 2022 model, how do I get just "steamed" milk from the frother? Another video mentioned removing the frother, but did not explain how? Is it the "clear" piece at the end of the frothing component?

Marc - consider the Jura E8 and Gaggia Cadorna Prestige which do you prefer for overall quality of materials, coffee, features and customer support? Thank you.
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Brad, Thanks for the question. If you are in the US customer support is excellent for Jura and Gaggia products. Need help with a Gaggia and it comes directly from Whole Latte Love. Our tech support is staffed by coffee pros. For Jura it's similar through their customer support center based in NJ. Quality of materials is similar between the brands. IMO Gaggia machines like the Cadorna Prestige gets you Jura features like color screens at a better value. What you get with Jura is an upgrade in maintenance. For instance, use an in reservoir water filter in Jura machines as directed and you will never need to descale. Gaggia can use a water filter which significantly increases time between descalings but you will need to do it. The brew units in Gaggia machines are removable. They are not removable in Jura machines. Ability to remove the unit gives some more peace of mind. Coffee quality is similar between the brands. Jura uses a pulse extraction process PEP when making espresso. When making long coffees it does not. That allows for changing between espresso and regular long coffee without worrying too much about changing the grind size to match the beverage. For larger coffees on the Cadorna most will make an Americano which the machines does. No Amerciano on the E8. Cadorna Prestige has a true flat white on the menu made from a double espresso using a coffee dose of up to 23g. Make a double coffee beverage on the Cadorna and it will always use 2 grind cycles. The E8 does not - its max dose is ~14g. Hope that helps! Marc

If you were to choose between this E8 and Gaggia Cadorna Barista Milk, which would it be. I think this looks better, but the Cadorna seems to have almost the same functionality. All that aside, which one produces better espresso and milk based drinks?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick, thanks for the question. Just want to make sure we're talking the same thing... There's a Cadorna Milk with milk fed by tube from a carafe and the Cadorna Barista Plus (may be North America market only) which has a manual steam wand. If referring to the Barista Plus it can make better milk drinks with its manual frothing. But it's a manual process so takes more skill and effort to get better results. But if you have the skill you can go right to latte art quality frothing and also make milk as hot as you like. If you are referring to the Cadorna Milk, it does one type of froth but automatically. The Jura E8 has 2 milk froth levels so you can djust between airier froht and something closer to steamed milk with little to no added air. IMO The Cadorna machines are a tremendous value. More drink features like Americano etc than the Jura and a much lower price. Aesthetics are personal opinion but many due find the look of the Jura machines more appealing. I espresso quality Jura and Gaggia are similar with a key difference. Gaggia does stronger doubles using up to 23g coffee dose for a double. When requesting 2 of any coffee drinks on the gaggia the machine will run two individual grind cyles to make them. The Jura does a single grind cycle with a max coffee dose of 14g. Hope that helps. Hello, You're my final chance in achieving the correct answers. I've asked so many people, called so many services and read so many reviews that...I've got tired and still no answer. I'm the owner of a Jura E8 15336 model and there are a few unknowns while using this machine. 1. How many grams of coffee does the machine use for every level of strength? Maximum is 16g, is has 10 level of strength, but what is minimum and does every strength adds an equal amount of coffee to the final puck? 2. What's the water temperature used for brewing? The selection is low, medium, high, but how many degrees does the water have when starting brewing? Does this temperature applies also to the milk or only to the water used for brewing? The milk has the same temperature after frothing in each level of temperature? 3. When making a double espresso is the water divided for every single shot? What about the coffee used? If I set at maximum it will use 16g for every shot or will also divide the amount of coffee and water for each shot? 4. In the description it says that the machine can make double coffee, double macchiato, but there's no selection on the screen for that or it's a wrong description? 5. How many grams of coffee and how many ml of water is used for the espresso shot? Is an espresso shot a normal espresso and has the same quantities like an espresso? 6. What's the difference between a Jura E8 and E8 Touch? What should I check for? I already bought the machine, but I'm wondering what's the difference because the price is also different and the looks are the same. So I don't know what I own. Thank you for your time in providing me the information and answers requested. It will for sure help other users.

@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Vlad, I'm here to help with your questions! 1. Dose range is 5g to 16g. 1 step in strength setting will add about 1g of ground coffee. 2. Internal brewing temp ranges from ~195 to 205F. Changing between 3 temp setting will be split in that range. Variables like ambient temp, temp of water in reservoir and time since last brew cycle affect internal brewing temp. Temperature setting of coffee brewing does not affect milk temps. 3. According to our Jura expert coffee dose weight is not increased when making a double - just the amount of water. 4. here are the available drink selections on the E8: Ristretto, 2 x Ristretto, Espresso, 2 x Espresso, Espresso doppio, Macchiato, Coffee, 2 x Coffee, Special coffee, 2 x Special coffee, Cappuccino, Latte macchiato, Flat white, Portion of milk, Hot water, Hot water for green tea 5. Amounts of coffee and water used for an espresso are user programmable. Typical single espresso in classic Italian style uses 7g coffee and 30ml brew water. Double is 14g and 60ml brew water. 6. In the US Jura only sells the E8. I'm not familiar with the E8 touch. I checked for E8 Touch in other markets and I'm not turning anything up. Hope that helps! Marc

I already have this coffee machine and I'm thinking of switching to real Italian coffee machine most probably the Rocket Cinquantatto DB Touch. Reason for this is that I'm not able to make a REAL Italian espresso taste with the Jura E8. And I'm aiming on the espresso quality like I drink in Italy and nothing less. My expectation is that it should be possible to achieve that with a machine like the Rocket or am I wrong? Is it even possible to make real Italian espresso with a Jura E8 or is it always a matter of compromise when using fully automatic machines? What's your advise regarding real Italian espresso? Any better alternatives than the Rocket Cinquantatto? What kind of grinder? Rocket Faustino? I'm a starter with espresso machines but I'm more or less a perfectionist, so quality is key. Thanks.
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 2 жыл бұрын
Hi FP, Thanks for the question. Prosumer level machines like the Rocket Cinquantotto are capable of making a better espresso than super-automatics which do compromise a bit on the quality for higher convenience. With the right coffee and skill in using a machine like the Rocket you can make an even better espresso than what you'll get in most bars in Italy. However, espresso from the E8 is very close in quality. I've spent a fair amount of time in Italy and the range in espresso quality is huge so defining a real Italian espresso is difficult. I had wonderful classic Italian style espresso from a back alley bar in Venice and terrible espresso from rest stops on the Autostrada. If you still have the E8 and enjoy the convenience try this to get a better espresso. Set your grinder to it's finest setting, set drink temp to highest setting and espresso strength to highest. Then make a slightly shorter espresso than normal. No more than 30ml/1oz into a pre-heated cup. Beans used a very important. Use a classic Italian style blend like Lavazza Super Crema or similar beans from Illy or something like Filicori Zecchini Espresso Blend. If you do end up going to a semi-automatic machine like the Cinqantotto the Faustino grinder is a good pairing. As for better altrnatives, once you get to the level of prosumer machines with E61group, heat-exchange boilers and PID temp control most are equally capable. The dual boiler Cinquantotto is a high-end machine. I personally have a slight preference for dual boiler machines from Profitec and ECM over the Rocket. Hope that helps! Marc

Are saved recipes stored under the same type or in a custom category or folder? Such as if I customized a cappuccino, is it saved with the standard cappuccino or saved in custom drink section? 3. If it saves in a custom category, can there be more than one custom category - like multiple folders so I cam make a folder for Tom with Tom’s drinks, one for Barb with Barb’s drinks, etc? 4. Can custom drinks be shared if say my wife has a favorite recipe saved in her app, can she share it or airdrop it to my app? 5. So you could do "Tom's Cappuccino", "Barb's Cappuccino" and so on. 4. I do not believe recipes can be airdropped from device to device. 5. Any compatible device running the J.O.E. 3/22/22 Update.. very happy with our E8 EXCEPT for the cost of the filter. Its almost a monthly cost of $19 (price keeps creeping up). This year we’ll be spending almost $228 for filters. For some reason Jura isnt allowing off market manufacturing of the filter for the E8. Something to consider. The flat white is "warm". Not good it should be hot. I noticed that this unit DOES NOT heat plain water hotter than 170F. The expresso temp as it comes out is about 165F. According to all expresso 'how to' the temp for perfect extraction should be 198F-205F. Shouldn't a machine that costs over $1,800 do that? Why didn't this review cover the important aspect of temperature control?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard, Thanks for the comments. Not sure how/where you are measuring temp. The 195 - 205F brew temp for espresso (and all coffee brewing methods) is the temperature of water when it contacts coffee. Measuring exit or in cup temps does not represent brew temps. I understand some want their milk drinks hotter however the sweet point of milk is in the 140s. That's the temp well trained baristas froth to for best flavor.

Hi Dennis, Thanks for the question. I am not a medical researcher/scientist. I do however pay attention to medical studies as they are published. For the last few years what I have read suggests that coffee is beneficial. Those who drink coffee tend to live longer than those who do not. I did see some research a couple of days ago saying filtered coffee was better for those who have high cholesterol issues. The filter helps to remove oils/fats. I personally drink about 6 espresso or long coffees daily made from semi and/or super-automatic espresso machines and have done so for more than a decade. My cholesterol levels are fine. I am 55 and take the lowest dose statin that can be prescribed. According to my doc I'm in excellent health no high BP, good heart, good BMI and no chronic health issues. I do exercise daily and do cardio biking an average of 75 mi/wk as weather allows. But that's me and I'm not everyone. I would discuss any concerns with your doctor or other health care professional. if I have filtered water set up in my house do I need to use the filter? (reverse osmosis water filtration)
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Victoria, Thanks for the question. Answer depends on what type of RO system you have. Many RO systems have a bypass which adds back some water which was not treated by RO (may have had particle and carbon filtration) to maintain a mineral level to prevent metal corrosion and support good flavor. Others may not have that and produce pure zero TDS water. If your RO system does re-introduce minerals to water after treatment then you should use a filter. If your RO system outputs pure zero TDS (mineral free) water then you would set the machine at the lowest possible hardness level in the menu. You would not need to use a filter in that case. But, the machine may at some pointy alert you to descale even though it is not required. If/when it does, just go through the motions of descaling without using descaler to clear the descaling alert. Something to be aware of: We do not recommend using pure zero TDS RO or distilled water in any machine. Over time ultra-pure water can be corrosive to metals. This type of water also over-extracts coffee resulting in bitter flavors. Hope that helps! Marc

@@Wholelattelovepage just found out our RO system is NOT a pure zero TDS system, but we do not have any filters to add back any minerals, based on this information would you say that I do not have to use the filter? Or is this still close to a zero TDS? I went ahead and put in the unit ( just got it 2 days ago!) Now have to figure out how to make a 12 oz cup of coffee!!! :)

@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Diego, Bitter flavor is generally the result of over-extraction. First thing to try is adjusting the grind a little coarser and see if that helps. Can also try increasing the strength setting so your drink is brewing through more ground coffee. Marc

Marc, in your earlier videos you used to first brew the espresso, steam milk and then pour it into the espresso. These days I see a lot of people steaming the milk first and then brewing and pouring in the espresso. Is it just to get a layered effect or does it impact the flavor as well?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi KM, Thanks for the question. When brewing on a manual machine - semi-automatic espresso, Typical prep is to pour milk over espresso unless making a latte macchiato to get the layered affect. Most automatic machines prep the milk first then espresso. Jura is one of the few that have some machines at the higher-end of their line which vary the prep order based on the type of drink being made. In their S8 model and above www.wholelattelove.com/products/jura-s8-espresso-machine-in-moonlight-silver the flat white and cafe latte brew espresso first. Other drinks like latte macchiato and cappuccino do milk first then espresso. Marc

After any milk drink, there is little amount of milk remaining in the hose. When i rinse the milk system, that does not get cleaned. Is there an easy way to clean it automatically?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi BA, Thanks for the question. Probably the easiest thing to do is remove hose and rinse manually at sink. Could also let it soak in container of warm soapy water and then rinse. When you do cleaning of the fine foam frother as described on page 29 of this manual: us.jura.com/-/media/global/pdf/manuals-na/Home/E8/E8-v18/download_manual_e8_e80_na.pdf?la=en&hash=F608A07490C1D79246C6118D36A666D3B3CBCC99&em_force=true Use the milk hose to connect to the dual chamber container. This runs Jura milk system cleaner through the hose. Hope that helps! Marc

How do you clean the milk pipe?
@Wholelattelovepage

Hi Alan, Thanks for the question. The Jura E8 comes with a 2 chamber container for holding cleaning solution and used cleaning solution. It's a very nice setup - Jura is all about making maintenance easy. To clean the milk tube and frothing components the milk tube is attached to the 2 chamber container. Then cleaning solution runs through the milk pipe and machine frothing components. It's an automatic process. @Wholelattelovepage

Hi Daryl, The E8 we carry does not include the Smart Connect Bluetooth adapter: www.wholelattelove.com/products/jura-smart-connect-bluetooth-adapter But the E8 is compatible with it and Jura's J.O.E app. IMO Jura has good and proper milk temps for best flavor. I believe those complaining about milk temps expect a latte to have an in cup temp similar to a cup of regular drip coffee. Milk gains the most apparent sweetness from heating in the 130-150F range. @Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi SR, Thanks for the question. The difference is in the order of milk and espresso prep. Lower cost machines typically only do milk first then espresso. The E8 does make an espresso machiatto which does the espresso first then milk froth on top. Also does a latte machiatto which does milk froth first then espresso. On the S8 drinks like the cafe latte and flat white are made espresso first and then milk - same way a barista would make it. Main difference between E8 and S8 is the number of drinks which do espresso first then milk. More on the S8 and they can have larger volumes of espresso and milk in those drinks. Hope that helps! Hi v, Thanks for the question. Jura machines produce a hot cup. Internally they brew at 195-205F (90.5-96C). As the espresso/coffee travels to the cup it does cool. I understand some are seeking the hottest cup possible. Do know that professional tasters and roasters prefer tasting at much cooler temps typically in the 130-150F (54-66C). It’s near impossible to detect flavors in very hot or very cold beverages. One reason why poor quality coffee is served very hot and poor quality beer/wine is served cold. The closer a beverage is to body temp the easier it is to detect flavors. Marc

Hi z, Thanks for the comment. I look at the machines as an investment in savings and lifestyle. Long-term one can save money over coffee shop and/or capsule brewing. Also save time in trips to cafe and waiting in line. From a lifestyle perspective nothing finer than having a high quality beverage whenever you want! As to the filters… Jura is about convenience and quality. Filtered water protects a machine (kind of like changing oil in a car) and improves flavor. A lot of well intentioned owners skimp on descaling. With the smart filters one never has to think about the maintenance. Marc

@@Wholelattelovepage I agree with you about the machine being an investment and yes certainly better than capsule machines. i suppose the price of the machine is not bad, my Sage barista express cost £600, not that I pad that much for it. Well i do agree with you about the water filter, I still think it is over priced, Sage is the same with their new filters as well. It is like the printer manufactures with their ink, over priced. i descaled my machine a couple of weeks ago, but then I am lucky not to live in a hard water area, sadly unless filtered the water still taste awful. which is why I use a filter jug

Hi LC, Thanks for the question. Are you using the Jura E8 machine? If so, you can set a delay time in the macchiato programming. The delay allows less airy milk to settle to the bottom of the glass. Espresso then sits on top of this layer when brewed and under the less dense airy milk froth on top. Try increasing the delay time in programming. Also, The E8 fine foam frother has 2 positions. Us the position which produces an airier froth. Hope that helps! Marc
