Wonderful review! I have been comparing several study Bibles over the past few months and have pretty much settled on Ryrie as my primary one. He was just a great conservative scholar.

I've had this in different translations, but I have the study notes at least. The Book outline is really nice. This review highlighted some of the great things about the Ryrie Study Bible. Like how you say, eat the food, spit out the sticks. I'm not cracked with all his perspectives, like dispensationalism. About the rapture...Matthew 13, what does Messiah say about some being taken and some remaining? Who is taken and who remains? When does a separation occur? The Parable of the Weeds Mat 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: Mat 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. Mat 13:26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. Mat 13:27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? Mat 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? Mat 13:29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Mat 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. I’m looking for a replacement for my ESV study Bible. Are the Ryrie notes staunchly pre-Trib? I’m post Trib but I don’t think that would bother me since I’m pretty used to it. :) Up until this point I mainly use study bibles for the OT context/outlines or if I have a question. I’m not sure if I want to spend the money on the genuine leather edition or if I should get an older used one. I was disappointed in the notes in the KJV study Bible, they weren’t as thorough as the ESV. Thanks for the good review!

Do you happen to know the main differences between this new revised edition and the original 1978 edition? I have a chance to get the 1978 covered in goatskin and just wonder if it has sufficient study notes. I don't really care about extra maps...

I am disappointed with this Bible because Charles Ryrie tends to correct the King James wording to line up with modern translations in the footnotes.

Boo...I am a Scofield bible reader and have been for years. I am looking for a new study bible for that very reason. Scofield from time to time had to show his 'smarts' by 'correcting' the Bible from time to time and I can't take it anymore...the bible is perfect the way it is....and anyone that thinks they are smart enough to correct God's words........other than that it looks like a good study bible but I won't buy one that tries to 'correct' God. Thank you for saving me money.

Idt think we should get to invested in whether we believe we are predestined or not. It is not necessary to try to split hairs between the two. It doesn't change that we should do God's will. I side more on the side of calvinism in regards to predestination

I have purchased the keyword study bible and i find the strongs numbering system does not align with The complete word study dictionary by Spiros Zodhiates. If i look up repent in Luke 13 :3 it gives me the strongs number 3566 and it corresponds with the back of the bible but when i turn to spiros dictionary it gives me something entirely different .Why ???

Odd that the KJV of Ryrie has many more Messianic prophecies than the NAS. Also, the KJV has a sewn binding (in all formats), while the NASB bindings are all glued.
